Good Ol Van Horn! When I first started driving trucks for a living I blew out my rear differential near there and fortunately was able to hobble into town. Found a mechanic shop (next to loves), parked in their lot and ended up changing the differential myself. .....Long story but they couldn't get to it so I started in on it. The next thing you know it was out, they then had their parts runner pick up a new diff in El Paso($200 for parts run fee), he got back the next day so I installed it with the help of one mechanic on a forklift. Those sobs had the balls to double to he part cost plus add the $200 parts run fee) totalling $1800. I did have to use their air for MY air tools, their parking lot, along with their forklift and driver for ten minutes. Ugh. ...ahhh, the good ol days.
El Capitan is the hotel that Ben Hogan stayed in the night before his auto accident in 1949. He almost died and both his legs were crushed b/c to save his wife, he dove in front of her. A passenger bus was in the wrong lane when it collided w/the Hogan’s. Mr Hogan recovered and won 3 US Opens and several other tournaments. It was an amazing come back.
West Phoenix ( generally around the i17 and west is pretty sketchy ). If you head up north a bit there are a bunch of really good RV parks / State and National Parks.

There is also the inflation side where we pass multi trillion dollar programs paid for 100% printed money. Hey there Bobby. I was in Van Horn myself Oct 29 and 30. I was hiking in Guadalupe Mountains National Park for the weekend. I stop in Van Horn both going and coming as I live East of Houston.
After following you for years I can tell your heart is not in this RV lifestyle. I understand wanting to expand into other opportunities hopefully you find someone or somebody’s that have the same compassion as you you do for sailing or motor boating or life in the water as you do!!!!! When your on the water you are happy (we all have our down times) and that’s what makes your channel explode lol Hang in there! Either way you are persistent and very smart you will be successful behind what your expectations predicted.
Van Horne was an Army Air Corps training base for bomber pilots during WWII. The remnant of the airfield is still there. The current airport only maintains one runway.
I can relate to the gunshots. I've been set up over here off Chef Highway 12 miles from Bourbon Street since 9/6/21 and there are multiple shoot outs every night, mostly semi-automatics but some full autos also. Due to Hurricane Ida the park is full of insurance adjusters and we are all working. On weekends usually there are a group of us that patrol the park and Yes, we are carrying. Stay safe, my friends, lock and load.
Van Horn, now you're close to me. I've been through that check point a few times. Maybe your channel can make it down to Davis Mountains and Big Bend sometime!

I live in Phoenix and the area definitely has both good and sketchy parts. My neighborhood is pretty quiet, in my 11 years here I think I have heard a gunshot once.
I guess the real story is that it's not Bobby that brings in the ladies for these adventures... it's the boats and water.. ;) Glad you are safe, next time have some kevlar handy.
I lost my hubcaps too and ended up painting them white (original color underneath the plastic chrome hubcaps) and they look fine. Saved $250 and lots of frustration of losing them.
I'm curious if most of the RV parks you stop at are really devoid of any kind of fun amenities. I don't think we've seen you really hang out at one in your videos since the first 2-3 episodes.
There’s parts of Phoenix you just don’t stay at. You must have been in ghetto central. Lock’n Load. Congratulations on season 1. Next season try out northern Arizona. It’s beautiful up there.

$2.89 per gallon? So ready to move to Texas! These CA prices suck. We did an amazing road trip last month from Sacramento to LA, then San Diego, then to Pahrump, NV to stomp in Death Valley. I paid about $4.50 a gallon in San Diego, crossed into Pahrump, NV(pretty remote) and gas was $3.17 per gallon. Such BS. We are already looking, just waiting for a few other things but gonna hit Montgomery County soon! Fuck CA(aside from the beautiful coast)!
Van Horn! I think you probably saw the best of Van Horn. I remember a good bud got a gelogist job there in 1978. A reopening of a Silver Mine. A couple weeks later, I got a call from our former receptionist. A gorgeous blond. She asked if I could pick her up at her house and give her a ride to the airport. I got tbere, she runs out to the car, throws her bags in tbe back seat, jumps in and says Let's go! As we drive off, her husband and 3 kids are standing in tbe driveway looking shocked. On tbe way I asked what's up. Well, she just left and was headed to Van Hodn to be with my dirt bag geologist friend. I got a call from her husband a few days later asking where did she go? She didn't even tell him. She just called him at wodk. Told him to come home and take care of tbe kids 'cause she was leaving. A few years later, I spent a night with my geo bud and her in Albuquerque. They both said Van Horn was a real tough place to live. Especially being in a 12 x 60 trailer house... Last I heard, she had left my geologist bud and married a submarine captain.
Nobody wants to glamp around in that old RV, especially nowadays. Look at all the reservation problems Bobby had. Maybe a more experienced RV'er will have more luck.

It seems reasonable to me. El Paso is over 120 miles one way. They lost the 200 in the cost of fuel and the truck. It was pretty much the whole day for the driver. Given all the expenses, it was not excessive. About the standard pricing it seems to me. But hey, it’s just my opinion - and we all know what they say about opinions.
Only a suggestion that would help your algorithms... Speed it up. It's a crazy age, we feed quickly. I'd bet your stats agree if you are looking at them.

Hahaha.. only 5 bucks per gallon, here in The Netherlands, a gallon of regular gas costs $ 8,60!! Almost 2 euro’s per liter. Crazy!

The reason gas is so expensive in California is to get the people to move to Texas. Unfortunately it doesn't work.
Just put good looking chrome wheels on it and forget the hub caps.
