- A look at BMD's entry level ATEM production studio 4K - I'll clear up some things that might not be clear in the specs about this unit as well take a look at it in general

I recently pulled an old ATEM Studio 4k out of retirement to use in making a secondary live switcher in its own flypack for smaller events. Also as a backup to my Main ATEM setup for larger events.
I tried to make the new flypack as versatile as possible. A 2ru rack case containing the ATEM, 2 Hyperdeck Mini's, and a Web Presenter. Complete with a small 5 port network switch tying them all together.
The aux port feeds the second Hyperdeck and the Program out feeds the first. Both Hyperdecks feed back into two HDMI inputs on the switcher for visual confirmation of what they are getting, as well as if I need to use one or both for playback through the switsher.
I had the same thought about using the aux out as a quick and dirty cuts switcher in the event of a computer or network fail.
I am almost complete on the build. Just working out final placement of the cooling fan. Otherwise the flypack has tested great.
What's the audiible noise like from this box - any fans? - I've had hit and miss results with blackmagic gear - the hyperdeck had these screaming fans in it - making it useless and unuseable in an msuic studio environment.
Hi - yes the fans were a bit loud. I replaced them with quieter ones which was not a big deal. Given how you can remote control these, and they really are intended to be run that way, stick the unit in a closest or another room and problem solved. They simply aren't designed to be used in the same room a shoot is going on.

My SDI inputs are not working. I don't know if I need to do an extra configuration. Meanwhile, the HDMI inputs work perfect.
the SDI signals have to match the same format as the HDMI ones do.thats the #1 reason an input doesn't work.
Thanks for that lovely video. I have an issue with mixing the HDMI and SDI inputs. When I use SDI they are interlaced signals and when I record the program output I get to notice interlaced lines.With HDMI inputs I have no issue. is there anyway to fix this? I use cameras with hdmi outputs and convert them to SDI Signals using a DataVideo converter.
its not a HDMI or SDI issue as both can carry interlace or progressive. I would set the ATEM up to progressive at whatever frame rate & res you need, and set the datavideo to output progressive as well. its set to interlace, as is the ATEM, so thats whats coming out. if you have problems with signal not being accepted due to mismatch of interlace and progress, get appropriate converters to get them into progress, or set cameras to progressive including outputs. failing all else, decimators to the rescue
@@thedp Thank you so much for your quick reply. Let me go and check out the settings again. From what I remember I couldnt change the settings to either 1080p or 1080i. However my Datavideo doesnt have a selection for p or i. Once I set to 1080p out on my camera i dont see a display on my multiview. I only see it if i set it to 1080i. let me go and try again. Its been a few months before my previous multicam live edit job.

A QUESTION FOR SO LONG AND SEARCHED HOW TO PUT BLACK MAJIC 4 K IN ATM HOW CAN I PUT TWO CAMERAS IN A SINGLE IMAGE AND WE NEED IT, COULD YOU MAKE A TUTORIAL OR EXPLAIN ME BY TEXT THANKS.
you can do a vertical wipe + graphic overlay. this requires framing each image in camera where it needs to be on the screen. this particular unit does NOT have a DVE to scale and position shots where ever you want, which is what I think you are trying to do. the next model up has DVE.
Why is my atem 4k studio production not seen by my propresenter 7
because its not seen as a USB "camera" or video device. The USB on it is just for control and firmware updates.
