I've got one of these boats, and you've given me a couple of cool tips I hadn't thought about, thanks from NZ!

Which one is the wide one in the background, is that a current model? That may be just what I am looking for! Thanks for the great video!

    Hello,
Thank you for your video and for the reference of the battery-operated pump (Takacat Volume Inflator).
I have a question. I would like to buy a Takacat 260 or 300 LX and equip it with an electric motor (ePropulsion spirit 1.0).
Can you please tell me what shaft length is needed? Long, short or ultra short?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jef

The Takacat boats are best used with the short shaft ePropulsion Spirit 1.0.
I’ve seen some use the extra short shaft, but it will ventilate in choppy conditions.
Some use a spirit 1.0 as a backup outboard for their larger daysailer, those larger boats typically require a long shaft. You’ll have slightly lower speeds with a long shaft, but otherwise no adverse effects.

I have the same question, what kind of pump is that?

That pump is a TVI (Takacat Volume Inflator) and can be purchased on Amazon or from your local Takacat dealer!

My transom keeps "walking" sideways. Any tips on stopping transom migration?

The transom board shouldn't move at all if you have an outboard mounted. The outboard clamps squeeze the transom boards together and allow the tab on the upper transom bar to dig in. If your outboard is moving sideways when installed, you need to tighten the clamps more.
If you don't have an outboard mounted, you don't even need to install the top bar or the boards, if you didn't want. The boat is perfectly happy with only the bottom bar installed.

And rowing is what I do most. My outboard is on the main boat most of the time. During the night the wave motion walks the transom. Sounds like I need c-clamps that replace the outboard. I love this boat just trying to make it better.

Use the seat for rowing. This boat rows easily. I use oars most of the time.
