How To Set Up a Takacat T300LX
Takacat Inflatable boats are very portable and versatile. The one thing about portable boats.... they need to be set up on location. Whether that location is the foredeck of your boat, a pier, a beach or from the bridge of your luxury helicopter.
Here is a step-by-step video of how to set up a Takacat T300LX. These steps will work for any LX model Takacat and is pretty applicable to a Sport model Takacat as well.

Does water enter the transom when you stop? 340LX w/ 4hp
มุมมอง 38K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Max from Great Lakes Watercraft spent a few days videoing with us in Maryland and he was able to put together some great footage to show that water does not just rush into the boat when you stop... Also, I wish we had a speedo, that seemed pretty fast for a 4 hp! Learn more at www.takacat.us.

I have a takacat 340. I just replaced a hard bottom zodiac of about the same size. The takacat is a drier ride in forward or reverse. If any water does Splash in, it just runs out the sides between the tubes and the inflatable floorboard
True kit way better build
Let’s agree to disagree! There are 10+ year old Takacats still in service, I’ve never seen a 6 year old TK 👀
My mayor concern dropped and losing my gears by the transom
Simple answer, No
I hate boats that don't lean into turns (stay flat) ....my bigger hand might get flung out
Hallo, wie heist die kleine elektrische Pumpe? Von welcher Firma?
Hi there! Which Takacat model is the one leaned to the wall on left of orange striped SUP? The one with a wide floor?
...if you're on lakes, but seas, no!
Nice boat 👍👍Australia 🇦🇺
Good video. Where is your particular shop located?
Use the seat for rowing. This boat rows easily. I use oars most of the time.
My transom keeps "walking" sideways. Any tips on stopping transom migration?
The transom board shouldn't move at all if you have an outboard mounted. The outboard clamps squeeze the transom boards together and allow the tab on the upper transom bar to dig in. If your outboard is moving sideways when installed, you need to tighten the clamps more. If you don't have an outboard mounted, you don't even need to install the top bar or the boards, if you didn't want. The boat is perfectly happy with only the bottom bar installed.
And rowing is what I do most. My outboard is on the main boat most of the time. During the night the wave motion walks the transom. Sounds like I need c-clamps that replace the outboard. I love this boat just trying to make it better.
That was very impressive! I use my electric pump to deflate the hulls and the floor, but packing it away is really very quick and no trouble.
I've got one of these boats, and you've given me a couple of cool tips I hadn't thought about, thanks from NZ!
Since that 4 hp can't get you up on a plane..... a 2.5 would be better. Lighter to mount, remove, less fuel and same speed. This boat should have a 6 or 2.5. A 6 hp would get on plane. A 4 hp is the worse of both worlds instead of the best of both worlds. Glad to see water in the transom isn't an issue.
it looked on plane to me
My Takacat is rusting! The transom tubes of the open transom are made of stainless steel 304 (V2A) (also for cost reasons). The tubes show ugly rust after a short time in a salt water environment. From my point of view, the maintenance is very time-consuming and is not reasonable for me. Unfortunately, I only found out about this disadvantage of the high maintenance effort after the purchase. For me, this product is not recommended for salt water environments. I am very dissatisfied and disappointed with the Takacat 340 LS for the above reasons. It does not meet my expectations and, in my opinion, is only partially suitable for my application as a full time yacht tender. I quote from Takacat's care instructions: 1. A first care step when driving in salt water is washing the transom tubes at the end of a trip with fresh water (fresh water) including thorough drying. 2. The insides of the transom tubes can be pulled through with an extra-long bottle brush. 3. If corrosion has formed, it can be removed with a stainless steel cleaner. 4. If you drive permanently in salt water, it is advisable to spray the transom tubes and optional slip wheels with a seawater-resistant stainless steel protector. Did you experience similar issues? Best regards Xaver
Hi Xaver, your experience is definitely not the norm. We don’t sell the 340LS in the American market, so your experiences are different than the normal Takacat models. If your transom is rusting, after proper care, you should likely file a warranty claim. That would be something we would cover in the USA.
Hello, Thank you for your video and for the reference of the battery-operated pump (Takacat Volume Inflator). I have a question. I would like to buy a Takacat 260 or 300 LX and equip it with an electric motor (ePropulsion spirit 1.0). Can you please tell me what shaft length is needed? Long, short or ultra short? Thanks in advance, Jef
The Takacat boats are best used with the short shaft ePropulsion Spirit 1.0. I’ve seen some use the extra short shaft, but it will ventilate in choppy conditions. Some use a spirit 1.0 as a backup outboard for their larger daysailer, those larger boats typically require a long shaft. You’ll have slightly lower speeds with a long shaft, but otherwise no adverse effects.
@@takacatamericas Thanks a lot !
Which one is the wide one in the background, is that a current model? That may be just what I am looking for! Thanks for the great video!
Which model is the wider boat you have in the back at the center?
The wide one is a special boat we designed for NOAA, it is used for sea turtle research and rescue. We can special order one for you, if that fits your needs!
@@takacatamericasthanks but I just got my red 460, can’t wait to get my 20hp and use it,
What brand is that little air pump? Thanks
I have the same question, what kind of pump is that?
That pump is a TVI (Takacat Volume Inflator) and can be purchased on Amazon or from your local Takacat dealer!
What a P.I.T.A. Was interested in one for my RV Travels but after video..no thankyou. Think I will trailer a tinnie instead 😂
that's amazing, great design!
Fantastic demo.
Thanks. Mine comes in 4 days. Cant wait. S/V Kota
I have got a place on Dundee creek can you stop by and give me a test drive . I am thinking about getting one of these .
I have a 420 LX with a 20 HP motor and no water comes in either. The boat is very buoyant.
It certainly comes in when you back up
😒
Dam that is very slow. Really needs to be able to handle more power.
It does handle more power, up to 20HP. In this video we just decided to use a more common and portable motor.
thank you man!
Why no splash, like the 380 etc? Is there a modification on this model?
permatrim (big cavitation plate)
Please how much does the 430 cost?
Put equipment and peeps in it, then get back to us.
What's the maximum speed you can reach with this 4hp on the Takacat?
Was this question answered?
I’m curious also
NICE!!!!! I want one. Thanks
I couldn't find the 460 on your website. What's the difference between that and the 420?
Driving with the wrong hand
Nope. Correct hand. He's just holding it palm up instead of palm down.
How about when it's put in reverse?
I only idle in reverse. Any speed at all and you’ll get soaked.
Does all your stuff go sliding out the back is my concern!!!
If that's really your worry, use a net across the back or secure your gear?
What about when you take it through waves to a beach???
Didn't you mean LX 420?
We don’t! The 460LX is a new model for 2021.
@@takacatamericas Ahh… o.k. Didn´t kwow this
@@takacatamericas that looks a lot smaller than 15'
Thanks for this. It answered a question I had about this very thing. Cheers.
Too much flex in that non transom
nope. Fcken incredible. Stay inside and keep your mask on.
