So you made a whole Eiht interview about Pac and Deathrow.. Eiht was never on DR…. You keep asking Eiht about Suge Knight, 2 Pac, and Deathrow when his career had nothing to do with them .. Eiht’s career had nothing to do with Deathrow other than a little bit of the beef with Quik. Eiht was one of the only artist back in the day to come out of Compton and not be associated with Eazy E or Deathrow…. He made into the game without being with either. The interview should have been more about Eiht and CMW’s career… He never ran with DR, Eazy, or Pac…. But you made 90% of this interview about those entities…

he’s absolutely correct about a majority of hip-hop labels that size. Usually when the label first starts they’ve got one or two really hot acts and then they’ve got a couple of bags on a tear just below them and then there might be one or two below that. The dudes on top especially back in the 90s would probably go anywhere from 4 to 6 times platinum, every now and then you get an Eminem or a Tupac that’ll go diamond, then the next level guys would go double or a test triple platinum and then the guys at the very bottom would go platinum or gold. But when the top guys are no longer the fresh new thing anymore even if the label keeps signing artist the label starts losing interest.
It kills me when people make these TH-cam videos about “the rise and fall of (insert hip-hop label name here)” usually made by someone who has a dislike for one of the main artist on the label.
It’s happened to Ruthless, Death Row, No Limit, Doggy Style Records, Murder Inc. Shady, G-Unit, Bad Boy…… it happens to all the labels. Aftermath seems to be the only one that can still put out a top album of the year but that’s because aftermath we’ll go for five years without releasing an album it feels like. But yeah the other labels, hip-hop has been conditioned not to like anything more than a few years old. It’s the same reason why we have no classic hip hop stations on FM radio. The most popular genre of music in America but it’s the only genre that FM radio doesn’t have a classic station of in major cities. And that’s no one holding hip-hop fact that hip-hop holding hip-hop back. Those same cities will have three hip-hop stations all playing the same current songs. So after the top artist on a hip-hop label have been out for 4 to 6 years that labels going to start dying down in popularity.

He was a mediocre MC compared to Nas, Big Daddy Kane, Redman, KRS1, Biggie Smalls, Kool Keith, Mobb Deep, Guru (Gangstarr), CL Smooth and many more talented Mc’s. 2pac freestyles were crappy big time...but apparently mediocre ones sell really well.
He could act and dance very good but he had the mindset of a 15year old child who, out of insecurity, wanted to prove himself on the streets even though he was already successfull at that time. The ultimate example of self-destruction of a wannabe thug.

I Like MC Eicht. But again I have to comment that "He said the downfall of Deathrow is what happens to ALL labels that have that status" ,meaning the gang or hood status", First of all no other American Label has had a Gang status like Deathrow. He mentioned Murder Inc.. That's actually incorrect and I'll tell you why. The Feds came down on Murder Inc. Because of Irv' Gotti's association with "SUPREME" a drug dealer from his hood of Queens New York. The Feds thought that MurderInc.
must be financed by drug money because how could a young black man build this Label worth millions of dollars. Which was NOT true. Irv was smart, he knew the streets and a lot of artists and he was a producer of the music.
He borrowed money from his sister to get started. Later he worked for Def Jam he put DMX on and Jay Z and then Sony gave him a multi- million dollar deal. Irv has legit money. They went to court and Irv Gotti was found innocent in the end . And Murder Inc was vindicated !!!! They won that court case ultimately!
Check out The Murder Inc Story on B.E.T. it's a 5 part series if you have not seen it yet. It tells the whole story and about Irv and Ashanti's secret relationship. As for Suge it's a case of you can take the man out the hood but you can't take the hood out of the man and that was his DOWNFALL! He even had LAPD policemen in his pocket who were under cover blood gang members that did security for him.
And everyone he hired was blood gang members to work at the office. It was a recipe for disaster and that's exactly what happen . The whole shit came tumbling down like a house of cards!
A lot of rappers came from the hood but they elevated themselves out of the hood . Look at 50 cent. he's from the hood but have a clothing line, tennis shoes line, vitamin water, etc... Same with Puffy. So your mind set has to change before you can change for the better.
