Godzilla is one of them
king kong, godzilla, the 50 foot woman and the colossal man
Attack of the 50ft Woman and The Blob (1958) were the first classic monster movies I ever saw. Thank you Monsters vs Aliens
Godzille and king Kong 😛
The King of the Kaiju 😎
Godzilla is and forever “The Number One, Giant Movie Monster of All Time” all hail to the King 👑
On your knees to the king, the king of the monsters, there can be only one.
@@dellyortega2416 All Hail Gojira 👑✊
Long live the King!
For me it's king Kong
@@nbagod21james11 You don’t belong here then!
Number 1 is a no brainer. He is LEGENDARY and you'd be a fool to say he's nothing short of the absolute best kaiju that has ever existed.
Number 1 and 2 were pretty obvious, so it was trying to place the others
BTW, anybody else notice that Space Godzilla had a mohawk?
Nigga just be quiet
@@seanbigay1042well, the 80's hadn't been gone that long.. 😂
He is called the King of the Monsters after all.
Not a giant in the scale of Godzilla or King Kong, but the Xenomorph Queen from Aliens is just plain awesome.
Yes, she's absolutely amazing.
The Garthog from "Coneheads" should be on the list too.
Some of these monsters are smaller than both Godzilla and King Kong, and there’s even some smaller than the queen Xenomorph
Okay, say it with me now: "Get away from her, you BITCH!!!"
Yep, and Clover should have been a LOT higher on the list.
No one can top the pinnacle of iconic monsters than the king of monsters himself!
There’s a reason why Godzilla holds the title in being the King of All Monsters.
Excited for *”Godzilla: -1.0”* ?

Godzilla is King! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
... king of the monsters
Second 🏆
How do we know Godzilla is a ‘ he’
It’s a she
Or maybe it turned to they/them😂😂
Loved that the Balrog made the list , think Smaug should've got a Honorable Mention
same with destroyah should've got a honorable metion
No Giant Movie Monster can ever Dethrone Godzilla!
Honorable mentions, The Dune Sandworm, Karathen, Cthulhu (Underwater 2020). Exogorth, Summa-verminoth, Krayt Dragon, Sarlacc, The Meg, Giant humanoids (Attack of the Titans), Smaug and the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park universe.
Unicron, Devastator and the Mega Elemental as well
And the giant praying mantis. If you have the ants and tarantula you can’t forget the 1957 Deadly Mantis
Good list. Smaug especially should have been on Mojo's list.
Would you really count the dinosaurs from Jurassic park as monsters? Sure in the book they are but the movies make them just like animals in the way they act and hunt.
Don’t forget the Venusian Ymir from 29 Million Miles to Earth. Another Ray Harryhausen creation from 1957
Im 38 and when I was a little kid i had all the Godzilla VHS tapes and i loved him and i still get excited to this day when a new Godzilla movie comes out. Godzilla, Aliens, and The Predator were my favorites.
Same❤!
Godzilla is the true king of the monsters, and truly the hero to us all.
P.S. My other favorites are
1. Gamera
2. Mothra
3. King Kong
4. The 50 Foot Woman
5. Rodan
6. King Ghidorah
You said it.
Excited for *”Godzilla: -1.0”* ?
Yeah... If you've watched Minus One you might drop the last part of your statement lol
Just today I saw Godzilla Minus One (2023). The makers loved the original and this movie brought me right back to watching it as a child. SO well done, including even using music from the original Godzilla movie. See it if you're a fan of the original. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Minus one is the Mater Class for making a Godzilla movie.
My son is crazy about Godzilla. So of course, we had to see Godzilla -1. It was amazingly well done, and it reminded me of the great enjoyment I had watching all the older movies with my dad. We will be buying it as soon as it becomes available.
Edited for typos.
I enjoyed it because they didn’t have to create another devastating weapon to defeat him.
King Kong is #2... that's great. Love the original 1933 film and the 2005 remake.
I'm glad that Godzilla took number 1 spot. I'm always team Godzilla all the way, I do like King Kong too but I love Godzilla more!
Mothra has always been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. Creature Double Feature every Saturday afternoon on a local channel was and is a fond memory of mine and my husband's.
There was literally no doubt that Godzilla is number 1 on the list of giant monsters, what else is there to say but Long Live The King
Over half of the list is from older movies and I agree wholeheartedly with it. They really knew how to make giant monsters back then.
Absolutely solid list. Even as time goes on, Ray Harryhausen's work will always be legendary.
Solid list. I especially liked the props for Cyclops at number 3. Harryhausen deserved that.
Glad you gave Gamera some time in the spotight!
Nice work!
But of course, fans like me must find nit to pick...just a little:
What about the Ymir from "20 Million Miles to Earth"? Another Harryhausen masterpiece!
Or "Gwangi" from the same great animator?
The obvious solution: Make another video with even more awesome giant monsters!
Thanks for the great fun!
20 Million Miles to Earth kinda gets a shoutout with the number 3 position of the Cyclops. Harryhausen reused the metal armature of the Ymir, chopped the tail off, give it a new skin and the Cyclops was born.
Love The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.
I'm sorry but I cannot stand for this continued Slander against Anguirus. He was the First monster to fight Godzilla (inventing the Kaiju Battle), he is one of Godzilla's oldest allies, and he's one of the most underrated Kaiju in Toho's line-up.
My favorite is Mothra, especially her son Mothra Leo from the Rebirth of Mothra Trilogy.
Very glad to see Trollhunters get a shoutout on this list. Fantastic (yet underappreciated) movie, especially if you like the found footage genre. "Why you problem make, when you no problem have that you no want to make?" Kills me every time.
Honestly, having done VFX for a long time for major studios, I have to say, when I look at Jason and The Argonauts, remembering watching these movies as a kid, and now seeing them, especially the Talos iron golem sequence.. I am more blown away the older and more experienced i get...
I mean, what is staggering to me is not just the absolutely groundbreaking animation, nor the amazing quality of details on his models that he is generally acknowledged for, but it is also the lighting and compositing when those things were much harder...
He had to light these models so that they fit into the scenes/film plates, and he does such an amazing job, I mean better than many modern films where they have advanced compositing tools, and rendering software, etc. He had to do with with old school negative film projection, and even more amazingly, match the plate's lighting environment using only small lighting rigs to balance lighting levels, quality, etc.. It is such an incredible show of craftsmanship by one guy, a guy who so much of how far we have come is owed to the generations of future vfx people he inspired.. Ie the Dykstra, Ken Ralston's, Dennis Muren, etc ie the founders of ILM, and the first gen of the age of computers vfx gurus, etc..
It was great to see not just one, but multiple entries in this list of his creations... I commend this list for what so many other lists on the internet don't pay homage too... only listing modern monsters.. when his monsters really started it all... not to mention the other greats like Godzilla rubber suit amazingness, and movies like Ants, the Blob... all great to see here..

I cannot believe that I only have seen *four* of these flicks. 🤦🏾♀️
Oddly enough the thumbnail is from monarch an Apple TV exclusive
I maybe the only person who prefers King Kong over Godzilla but at the end of the day I love both of them
I agree. Without Kong, you would have never had Godzilla.
I think there's quite a lot of people that like Kong more than Godzilla. And I agree all credit is due to Kong. But I still thing that Godzilla deserves the number one spot. He's always been:
1) A bigger threat.
2) A more terrible and haunting force of nature.
3) A more famous and widely exposed cinema image.
4) A more unique and visceral experience.
5) A deeper and more tragic narrative meaning.
King King is a Giant Gorilla, and his stories have always played to both the fearsome nature of that, but also the sympathetic angle, the humanity behind it. King Kong is ultimate an outsider, an animal whose feelings and tragedy invite the audience to empathize with the situations he finds himself in. Godzilla, though, is the very price of the hubris of humanity itself. He is all our worst natures, invoked and punished in the most raw and visceral retribution. He is destruction incarnate, the unstoppable wrath of a world that's simply too big for any of us. Be it the unfathomable oblivion of the Nuclear Bomb itself, the haunting will of the souls of war's tolls, nature's balance personified, or the will of the people of Earth to resist the strange and alien... almost every incarnation of Godzilla is emblematic of a force, a concept, hell-bent around its indomitablility, the stark reality of its being. Where Godzilla dwells, the nightmares of humanity have been realized, and man must either suffer its consequence, or cower and pray for its protection.
Godzilla isn't simply The King of Monsters because he's big or bad... he's the King of Monsters, because he embodies the most Monstrous of ideas. He transcends his physical threat, and roars from the fathoms of true existential terror.
I know Mothra came in at #5, but she's still my favorite.
Although I would agree to the number one great movie monster on this list.....there are plenty more great scary monsters that could replace the puff Marshmellow Man...or...The 50 ft Woman which i dont think are neither monsters nor scary.....Scary monsters such as the mother Xenomorph from 'Aliens' or that giant badass squid monster from 'Deep Rising'...they deserved to be on this list.
Freaking _KNEW_ the King of the Monsters was gonna get #1
So did I.
My favorite is Shin Godzilla. Minus One was amazingly awesome, but Shin just has that horror factor the other versions lack. Plus we never got to see just how far "Evolution Incarnate" could go...
One of My all time Favs when I was a kid was The Valley of Gwangi, Another Ray Harryhausen Classic!
Donald Trump in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Has to be the biggest monster in any film 😂😂😂
I have no problem with Kong and Godzilla being #2 and #1. It’s apples and oranges between those two. Kong came first, which is important, but Godzilla has more films. If two could share a #1, all is fair in Godzilla and Kong!
Whats cool about Trollhunter (2010) is that the secretary general of NATO and former prime minister of Norway Jens Stoltenberg has a cameo at the end of the movie saying that "Norway has trolls" 🤣
Good times when he still was prime minister. Now not so much.
@@vladdracul5072 Are you from Norway like me? 😁
@@metern I wish I were, but I have only been visiting Norway for the last two decades.
@@vladdracul5072 Well, you are welcome when you want to come again 😉.
War of the Gargantuas has the most amazing battle. The military sets up a defense to take out the Gargantua and it works, until another one shows up. Plus the maser cannons had just wonderful animation, with the drawn-in beams seeming to cut down trees due to carefully timed squib detonations.
I was hoping Hedora (the Smog Monster) would have been on this list. That one absolutely terrified me when I was a kid.
Given the name of this list, Dune's Sandworms should have merited a spot in there and a good case could be made for the T-Rex (and pals) from Jurassic Park
I love Godzilla, but my favorite movie monster is a tie between The Monster from The Id and Kothoga. I wish someone would remake Forbidden Planet, Relic is fine. 😉
Perfect timing, considering the newest Toho Godzilla Movie, Godzilla: Minus One, is coming to American theaters December 1st. WHOO!!!!
LONG LIVE THE KING OF THE MONSTERS AT #1! 👑🎌🏯🗽🏢🎬🎥☝
A giant beast I think is missing from this list is the Original and only male dragon from the 2002 film Reign of Fire. A truly fearsome beast.
I felt like Bruce the shark should have been on this list
Godzilla is my favorite monster out of them all I do love the other giant monsters like Mothra, King Kong, Gamera, behemoth, Troll, Space Godzilla, etc. But King that ranks beyond all of them is definitely Godzilla. Nobody will never dethrone him not in 30 years not even a 100 years.
I feel like you could've done an honorable mention for the octopus from It Came from Beneath the Sea
I do wish they would make more Godzilla with Mothra and King Caesar fighting bad monsters(maybe like Cloverfield big guy?)movies!!!Maybe just me,but that sounds kick butt!!!lol, hope and pray that you are all blessed and happy out there!!!❤😂🌈🥀🏵🌺🌻🌼⚘🌹❤
Awesome list, I think that the main big bad kaiju from pacific rim uprising should’ve at least made it to the honorable mentions list
Speaking of the 50 Foot Woman, that's who Ginormica, the protagonist from Monsters vs. Aliens was inspired by, since both of them get turned into giant womans due to extraterrestrial substances that mutated them.
After watching Return of the Jedi I had to sleep with the light on ,the Rancor scared the crap outta me(still does to this day)😮😮
I'd rather attempt to vanquish a Rancor then attempt to narful a Garthog.
It is always refreshing to watch these videos and read the comments and see no one arguing about the number 1 spot. Godzilla is right up there with #1 Movie composer and #1 video game composer.
My favorite giant monster is King Kong. I like apes and I liked how the monster-verse made him a good monster protecting his home and allies.
Before I even press play, if Godzilla ain't 1 this WHOLE list whack!!!!!
BIG G is the real deal no 🧢
He can take on anyone, anytime in an one on one battle and will come victorious no matter what kaiju he's facing
A few monsters I would include:
Super8's alien
Xenomorph Queen
Sandworm
Chtulu
The one the guardians of the galaxy battled at the beginning of the second movie
Damn right Godzilla is #1, he is called King of the Monsters for a reason after all. Just a quick note about Kong though, he has never actually beaten Godzilla. They have fought twice with the first battle ending in a draw and Godzilla winning in the last movie only for the human protaganists to revive Kong later so that he could help take down Mechagodzilla. The two left with mutual respect for each other afterwords which is good because considering what they will be up against in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire they may need to put their differences aside and team up again.
Godzilla will always be the king of the monsters. Having said that, he, Kong and Gamera make up what I like to call the Trinity of Kaiju.
What about T-Rex or any dinosaurs from Jurassic Park franchise
It bothered me as a kid the Cyclops killing the Dragon. I liked the dragon.
The giant mantis from The Deadly Mantis should have been included in my opinion. Not as #1, but someplace on the list anyway.
How about the cat from The Incredible Shrinking Man?
Once Godzilla, ALWAYS GODZILLA🀄️🀄️🔥🔥🔥
Lol,I have got to say King Caesar from Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla movies is the most adorable (besides Mothra),giant monster/puppy looking, lol,in the Godzilla movies, lol!!!😂I truly hope and pray that you are all blessed out there!!!❤😂
After Godzilla, Gamara was the best.
Yes, it is, I love gamera even more.
My only quarrel with this lair is Ghidorah being so high up on the list. He should be top 5 easily and I would have put him at #2 and Kong as #3
Kronos, The Thing (giant vulture not shape changer), spiders from Eight-Legged Freaks, Celestial from "Eternals", Batra and the Giant Octopus from "It Came From Beneath The Sea"
Surprised that Might Joe Young wasn't on here.
Surprised the Sandworms from the Dune movies aren't on the list. Great movies and great monsters
I personally love Gor Gor who is known to the fans of the band GWAR...
'Them' is one of the best monster movies ever made! I loved it as a kid! 'Creature Double Feature' anyone? There is, of course only one king and that will always be Godzilla!!!! Too bad that Smaug and 'The Smog Monster' didn't make the list, though. I also love Gamera and Mothra but my favorite will always be Rodan!
Despite Gamera is my favorite monster... the throne is for Godzilla, no doubt.
I saw the original Mothra as a child on an old black and white TV set and she is my favorite, along with the story itself. I also love the Mothra song.🦋🎶
Can you top 10 decepticon transformers pretty please?
Impossible, you can not gush over Ray Harryhausen enough!
Thanks for another good shift watchmojo!
Godzilla, of course, is my fave. But I've had a soft spot in my hear for Gamera since I was a kid...so close second.
That's awesome! Godzilla is indeed iconic.
Did I doze off during this video, or did you fail to mention Reptillicus...?
Next year marks Big G's 70th birthday. Just as iconic as Mickey Mouse, Mario and The Rock.
Kong didn't beat godzilla, their original fight ended in a stalemate after they both fell off a cliff
LETS GO GODZILLA!!!!!!
You missed out the creature from Deep Rising.
I rather enjoyed this list and I always love the call backs to the old classics especially when it comes to their special effects ♥
I did kinda miss an Alien Queen, the Meg and Smaug on this list? I mean I realise one is 'just an extinct animal' and the other is quite smart, but I'd definitely still put them on a monster list. Also an Alien Queen isn't like building size but still pretty damn big and definitely a monster.
I can't be the only one surprised that the amazing designs of any of the Mutos were in this list
Awsome list but the sandworms of Dune are massive compared to those of Tremors. Also, one of the biggest monsters on screen that's rarely talked about is the giant meteor dwelling monster that almost at the Millennium Falcon.
Very entertaining list.
6:28 note: this colossal 300ft horrifying abomination was just a BABY!!!!
You should have played the Godzilla song, Go go Godzilla. Brandon Tenold has taught me on his TH-cam channel that the scariest thing in a Kaiju movie is the Kenny from the Gamera movies.
The kraken from pirates is and was sooooooo scary … like omg !!! That’s what made me love movie monsters
I think you've missed the Harvester Queen alien from Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) and even if not from a movie, I think one mention is needed for the Mind Flyer from the tv series Stranger Things
He's the king of monsters for an obvious reason! ❤❤❤
You showed him in Godzilla vs. the Cosmic Monster but I wish you had mentioned him at least by name: King Caesar
Clover? Again? Both the monster and film were terrible.
There's also Smaug, The Meg, the Alien Queen, Indominus Rex, Hulk, Exogorth and Lizzie from Rampage.
Do you remember the white buffalo from the movie with Charles Bronson "The White Buffalo"? Was a great monster in its own right and a fantastic movie by Dino De Laurentiis
@G0Chiefs Haven't seen that one yet but just looked it up and the White Buffalo monster is pretty impressive! Will have to add this movie to my watch list.
The Garthog from "Coneheads" should be on the list too.
Guess they can't squeeze in every monster.
Dont think its bad list but feel like some movie monsters are missing from this list that should definitely be here.
Let's be honest, we all knew who number one was gonna be. Hail to the King, baby. SKREEEOOONK!!!
My favorite part of the battle with the Balrog is the falling and Gandalf continuing the fight, as if to say "You wanted this A$$***le, I'm not finished with you yet!"
The sand worms from Dune, they may not get many scenes but they were very impressive. To bad rhey didn't make the list though.
Maybe in a top Sci-Fi monster list, they'll get another chance.
This might be obscure to most, and I'm sorta not surprised it isn't on here, but there was a movie that haunted my childhood, and from what I have seen, a lot of other people's childhoods, but the giant turtle from The Bermuda Depths should be on this list somewhere. I remember seeing the only Rankin-Bass live action movie on late night TV when I was a kid, and it scared the hell out of me at the time! For years afterward, I scoured the internet just trying to find the name of the movie so I could watch it again as an adult. The only thing I could remember from it to identify it was that Burl Ives was in it and Connie Selleca. So thank God I discovered IMDB! I did end up finding it online and watching it again, as well as other rare and hard to find movies from my childhood.
Carl Weathers never stood a chance!
Godzilla Legacy Speaks for itself, But I was Always A Kong & Gamera Fan
Godzilla of course
Can't wait for the next Godzilla /Kong movie
I'm worship Godzilla only
Godzilla, my spirit animal, Titan as well.
And a God
Same, he is my true god.
@@G1Grimlock94 Don't forget Top Predator, I didn't want to say "Apex" because of what happened in Godzilla vs Kong. 😒
@@alphagojira5647 Godzilla only King of Kaiju
I am surprised that Slattern and Otachi got on but the Mega-kaiju from the same movie line (pacific rim) didn't (Mega-kaiju was in the second movie, Pacific Rim Uprising)
Godzilla is king now and forever. Hail to the king baby and long may he reign lmao 😅😂❤😅😊😂
