For real Cetaphil is revolutionary to me! Non-scented, gentle, works for every skin type, affordable + it removes ALL my makeup (including mascara). It gets no recognition but it's perfect! (who needs an expensive, over-prices and over-complicated formulation for a product that stays on your face 30 seconds max?)

@@user7l947Jh2 Same for me! I use Cetaphil face & body cream only at night preceded by retinol. I have hyperhidrosis and my face would look like a sauna bath during daytime. But it works great and it’s cheap.
My derm doesn't go for either, because she thinks that you could get better "bang for buck" with La Roche Posay, Avene or Uriage (the latter you can get from iherb). I agree with her that Cetaphil & CeraVe might not irritate sensitive skin, but that's about it...
I understand that you are not a Cetaphil fan but I used it for years and personally I do not care if a cleanser is innovative as long as it cleans my skin and does not strip my skin, which Cetaphil does. I still use Pond's unscented cold cream to take off my waterproof sunscreen and it works like a dream and I would assume is not innovative and is cheap.
A lot of people don’t like cetaphil. Everyone raves over cerave and idk why cause cerave burns my rosacea and cetaphil never does and I love their products! I’m a cetaphil girl so your not alone! It’s cheap effective and good. Good enough for me.

I don't think Cassandra was saying that Cetaphil needs to be revolutionary to be good, but more that it's a product thats been around for almost 2 decades so she was confused about why it was winning an award this year since it's not new and/or "revolutionary". She said it's a good, basic product, but that she doesn't use it because it's not cruelty free
Not the cetaphil slander. That cleanser is more gentle ( to me ) than the alternatives you mentioned and is very no frills which I think is the point and that's why so many tret or strong active ingredient users use the gentle skin cleanser.
I wouldn’t personally buy Perricone MD at $8 cheaper than Skinceuticals when it doesn’t have the same scientific basis but Timeless and Geek & Gorgeous both do very similar formulas to C E Ferulic for a LOT less and I believe both are cruelty free
I use the geek and gorgeous and the Perricone they both are great there is definitely something about the Perricone not to sleep on the glow and hydration from the serum is great I get the price is high and the geek and gorgeous works well alone too but when I need that something extra Perricone serums definitely deliver
@@ninar7040 you get the same result but what I noticed at least for me is whenever I put on an eye cream, concealers just glide on smoothly under the eyes and I find there's less crease within the day than those days that I just use my daily moisturizer. ☺️

Exactly about the eczema. My son has it and Cetaphil is absolutely the only thing I use to clean him. This product might be one of the few that needs some animal testing for the sake of individuals with real skin conditions like eczema.
@@Lulu-xl5cm I understand where you are coming from, but the people I am talking about are THE most sensitive and severe eczema and allergy patients. The only people who could volunteer to test for such patients would need to be just as severely sensitive and risk irrevocable damage from a monstrous flare. Some people spend years trying to clear a fkare like this. For those patients, though few, we need that one animal-tested product.
@@Lulu-xl5cm there might be volunteers. But depending on what product/medical stuff we are talking about, u would need volunteers, with very special/rare deceases/illnesses/Disorders, wich can be A to risky for them to test, and or B, they are not enough/able to stay in certain clinical enviroments. A classical more extreme example would be cancer. We can produce, 1000 mice with lung cancer + a certain imune decease, and hold them at extremely supervised standards. Something like that is not not possible with humans. I know ita an extreme example a bit a far from skin care. But like another comment speaking about people with severe excema, we arent talking about "normal" skin care here, but about products working for severe conditions.
It’s great it works for you @tofu. I didn’t get that vibe from the review - her main complaint was it’s not cruelty free. I’ve used it and am sensitive skinned with psoriasis on my face and at the time oily to combo skin. It hurt my face and stripped it severely. A no for me. Keep on using what works for you.
It’s really funny when I see skincare becoming a thing now, especially korean beauty, and as a korean who has experienced the “phases” with the trend in korea, people hyping over some things that were a trend a long time ago, especially overhyped products, really bring me back memories. It’s like the reaction I had when I first saw them, and kind of knowing how people are going to move on the same, if not similar, pattern as I/lots of Koreans did. On top of that, kind of sad that people are not experiencing the better and improved skincare and beauty products in Korea now. I guess it is kind of hard because it is an entirely different country, and Koreans tend to move on very, very quickly, it is going to be hard to get all of the products here. ;-; (sorry for the bad english, this is not my first language)
Agreed. I always assumed that they got kickbacks for awarding certain products. I don’t believe for one minute that Allure is independent from the brands they write about. I’ve been a subscriber ever since they started the magazine; I enjoy the articles, but for all the recommendations I assume they’re done in lockstep with the brand paying them.
I’m 55 and have been using Cetaphil products (at my dermatologist’s recommendation) since I was a child. I was born with horrible atopic eczema, and soap was always WAY too harsh for me. Their cleanser was always really gentle on my skin, and, even though my eczema is long gone, I still use their cleansers and lotions for temporarily dry skin.
Yes, please critique everything on that list! Also, I really appreciate the content you put out. I love that you show us affordable skincare that doesn't break the bank! You have helped me save a lot of money. And also, I appreciate the education you provide for us! I love to learn so I eat your content up!! #Skintellectual Thank you for all you do, cyster!!
I’ve been using Cetaphil for 30 years. My former dermatologist recommended it along with 2x weekly pea sized application of Retin-A, wash your face gently at night and rise/pat dry with water in the am and put on more Cetaphil. At 54, I get lots of compliments on my skin and when I tell folks what I do they don’t believe it can be that simple.
I would really like to try Ceramedx because its cruelty free status, but pretty much everything has shea butter. And my skin absolutely abhors shea butter. Allegedly a low comedogenic rating, but my skin wholeheartedly disagrees. Some of us with very allergic/reactive skin who have to be picky with ingredients can't always choose the cruelty free version :(
When I was like 15 the makeup lady at Nordstroms used a clairisonic on me and the next day my face swelled up to the point I couldn't see, not sure why but I've never had a reaction to any skin care product like it before or since that 😬
Oh no that’s terrible! It likely held bacteria and old product. No matter how well they tried to clean it they don’t come clean. Who knows how many people they used it on before you.
I can’t believe she was allowed to do that! I’m glad it cleared up and wasn’t a long term issue. My bestie got staph from the Clinique counter using makeup brushes on her. It was scary and I felt so bad for her!
The Laneige sleep mask is really a great product. And yes, you do get the little applicator which is more like a spoon. It’s nice to get the product out without putting your fingers in there and getting whatever bacteria, etc.
It makes me happy to see so much free knowledge on the net now..when I was younger and had horrible breakouts my fam couldn't afford a dermatologist and my skin suffers now for it with acne scaring.
Ikr? The internet is literally a lifesaver. I've learned SO much just in the last year alone that I've made almost a complete 180 with my health. Just have a few more issues that need ironing out but they're more complex so I'm seeing a professional for that.

Haha I laughed when you said 24 years and then corrected it on screen to 74 years. 😂😝 Laneige lip sleeping mask is great. But I'm biased because it... Is one of those products that lasts a LONG TIME. It looks like a small container but you don't need a lot. Hell no am I getting the peppermint eww. I am fine with the classic strawberry scent/flavor. But something about the way this works, it's like it goes on, and then melts and EXPANDS?! Somehow... It's really hard to use up. I use it as lip balm though, not as a thick mask, because I find I don't need to. A little goes a long way and it nearly lasts forever. My little 0.7 oz jar has lasted more than 9 months.. Maybe almost a year.. Idk how.
The First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream ended up being a body moisturizer for me. Too greasy feeling to me and there are other thick moisturizers I love! The Langiege lip mask smells and feels amazing. Perfect over chapstick and I never have dry lips! Definitely interested in a video on the rest of the products!
The laneige is absolute holy grail. I keep one in my car, one in my bedroom, and one in my living room. I use it as a normal balm and love it. My runner up is the bite beauty agave lip mask.
Beagles! As a beagle mom, knowing people are willing to only support CF brands makes me so happy! My bubs is such a love and I can’t imagine what test beagles goes through. Beagles are so loving and caring and smart. They aren’t lab dummies. We have male politicians for that….
Sadly, that's exactly why Beagles are used so frequently in animal testing labs. They're so friendly and trusting that anything can be done to them and they'll come out of it with a smile on their face and a desire to please. It's heartbreaking. I can't say much due to privacy agreements, but I used to work at a pharmaceutical company that utilized animal testing. I mistakenly opened up an SOP once that laid out how the testing was done. My curiosity got the best of me so I read on. I understand why it was being done, but seeing diagrams of how to hook things up was just disturbing, to say the least. These poor animals. Hopefully, industries can start moving away from it and find another effective manner to test products.
Loved my sweet beagle so much…she passed at 16 a few years ago. There is a disgusting lab that uses them for research here. We’ve (through protests) have gotten them to stop for the most part but even one beagle used is too many! Keeping my eyes open to adopt a beagle freed from lab
Hey, I’d love to hear your thoughts on accessibility to cruelty free and or vegan skincare products for those of us with low income. I just personally haven’t seen many people talk about it, and since it is a privilege to be able to have access to those kinds of products I think its an important convo to have. While there are more budget friendly CF products nowadays, I feel like quite a few of us still struggle to access them.
in my country the only good cruelty free brand is The Ordinary:) everything else I need to buy online. so it is a huge struggle and we should definitely talk about it more

Oh god I never noticed the comments on this one damn people chill she is just giving her opinions, feels like cerave and cetaphil have a cult following or something, if you like it just keep using it I don’t get this rage
I was gifted a set of the laneige lip masks, and though I’m vegan, I refuse to waste them, so I’ve been using them. They’re fantastic. BUT so are my holy grail lip balms from burts bees (pomegranate one is the ABSOLUTE BEST I will fight to the death on this 💀🤣). I get angular cheilitis (not bacteria caused, it’s stress induced for me so I can’t even get a doctor to treat it 😩) and the lip masks have absolutely gotten rid of it within HOURS. I’ll be on the hunt for something similar! I’m a lip balm freak, since I obviously tend to have issues with my lips, and rarely find one I feel is worth using up because it’s so great. Bummed that they’re not cruelty free, but they’re an Asian brand if I’m not mistaken, so it makes sense. Hope China readdresses the issues of animal testing/animal welfare (also human welfare because good grief).
I got one of the laneige lip mask as one of those gifts that Sephora gives you and I wasn’t impressed. I get really dry lips and nothing soaks in except for burts bees. I’ll have to try the pomegranate one though!
Hi, not sure if a Walmart near you carries this, Chap Stick, Total hydration lip scrub. I got some for Christmas last year, I’m a mature lady but it works great, I have dry lips during the winter, not sure if will help you but thought I let some viewers know if they didn’t already know about the product.Have a great day 🤗👋🏻❤️🇨🇦.
The FAB ultra repair cream is amazing for my dry sensitive skin! I love it! It also has colloidal oatmeal that I’ve discovered is great for my skin. It’s very hydrating and calming, it helps with mask wearing irritation and excessive dry skin in winter
I love the FAB cream. I've been using for two years now. Started using it after my sister suggested it to me for excessive dry skin around my mouth due to jet lag and winter weather.
I would totally watch an additional review of the other products in the Clean and Sensitive section. Thanks for providing all this information and the research you do. Still trying to figure out my skin and this information is helpful!
For me you should get an award for being so honest and so “normal” , no extreme expensive products that you rave, but just your honest and real opinion with actually products that work. Love love love you!
Oh while the Skinceuticals C E Ferulic is expensive, it is worth every penny. Its the product i'd bring to a deserted island. I have hyperpigmentation/sun damage, and seriously, it has literally lighten them by like 60%. I use it every morning before my sunscreen. Whilst the smell is like raw meat, i dont mind it because its so magical.
I agree with you. I start saving as soon as I buy a new bottle so when it runs out I can justify repurchashing. I wish they would put it in a pump, but its done wonders for my hyperpigmentation.
@@luckyDancer100 I keep mine in its box in the fridge. That helps. My last bottle lasted me about 8 months with everyday use. By the time it was oxidizing, I was almost done the bottle. Keeping it cold and in a dark area really helps
Dude, no respect for Thanksgiving. Stores near me have been stocking Christmas stuff for weeks. ITS NOT EVEN HALLOWEEN YET. Thanksgiving has no chance.
I've used both Cetaphil and Cerave and I prefer Cerave. Their face moisturizer is the only product so far that doesn't clog my pores or make my face super greasy. I've tried two or three of their cleansers and I like the foaming one best. Cetaphil didn't bother my skin but I feel like it didn't really do much to help it either.
I wanted to love cerave because of the beneficial ingredients, but cetaphil just works better for my skin (even with the harsher surfactant). I have been using a combination of cetaphil gentle cleanser and cerave moisturizing cream for years with success; I definitely get acne still (I have treatment products for that, and it's probably more due to my diet tbh) but my skin isn't irritated and feels balanced (not dry, not super oily).
I have rosacea and Cetaphil is the only thing my skin can handle when it's angry. This is exactly why I take people like you and hyrum with a grain of salt.
I still have a Clarisonic. I'm keeping it, as long as it stays clean and mold free. It makes my skin look amazing. I use it once a day. I have severly dry skin, so I can't follow the average skin care routine. It doesn't spin, it vibrates. The brush hairs are just so fine, you cannot get that from the thicker silicone bristles. Until I can find a silicone brush with finer bristles, I'm not going to purchase the silicone face brush. They do look like they would feel really nice though!
I love the FAB cream, but I totally agree it’s for dry skin and will do not so great things to those with oily skin. I have severe eczema and my flare ups can be so painful. Their oatmeal products have done wonders for me.
OMG I love the FAB Ultra Repair Cream. I have dry acne prone skin and I use Differin and this does wonders for me. The cream is thick and rich but does not feel greasy at all and it does not break me out. Plus, you can use it on the face and body so for the price it is great!
I'm kinda in the same boat with FAB. I have very sensitive rosacea skin and it's one of the few brands that doesn't make my skin angry but it also doesn't really do anything for me.
Part of the foreo mention should have also touched on that you can get a similar non-electronic cleansing tool for super cheap. Sephora has a “facial cleansing tool” for $8; it’s fantastic, made me stop wanting a foreo, and I find that I need less cleanser when I use it.
I use the basic Laneige Lip Mask & absolutely love it. It actually stays on my lips all night & is extremely hydrating which is what I care about. It does come with a small applicator spatula type thing (it’s not a shadow brush) for hygiene.
I am 59 years old and have sensitive, dry skin. Need good eye cream that doesn't irritate my eyes and give moisture in that area. I have been using day and night Hada Labo eye cream, and it is great.
I’m actually on the side that likes and sees the effectiveness of a sonic cleansing device. I use the Spa Sciences Nova from Target and it’s well made. The bristles are antibacterial and as long as you keep it clean and wash it before each use you should not have issues if you use it gently. Let it glide over your skin without pressure and just use at night to remove makeup and sunscreen very well. I definitely notice the difference when I stopped using Clarisonic and tried only hands and even tried the PMD Clean (waste of money for me). The silicone ones just don’t really clean that well either. Spa Sciences and their brush heads are more affordable than Clarisonic ever was. Just my personal likes 😄
Color me surprised is Cassandra for once recommending and not trashing a Foreo device 😮😂 I love their Luna brush! Yep a silicone applicator comes with the Laneige lip balms, it's great because you don't want to be digging into it with your fingers.
Edited to say the Klavuu is apparently cruelty free and vegan!! Just looked it up. Have to say as a dry skin queen the Laneige lip mask is one of the only things that has ever worked to stop my lips being cracked through winter. The other is the Klavuu lip mask which I’m pretty sure was made as a dupe.
I've heard a lot of people rave about the Laneige, but it didn't actually help my chapping at all for some reason. It felt soothing when I applied it but wore off quickly. Glad it works for you, though! Mamonde makes a lip product that's similar to Laneige that works better for me (and it's cheaper). I use it more during the summer, though, because it still doesn't cut it for my winter skin. The CeraVe Healing Ointment at night (or, really, anything with a petrolatum base) is still the only thing that does the job for me.
The LA Neige lip mask is DA BEST lip mask ever. Some people say it's overpriced Glycerin, which I respect to be honest. But this product feels perfect, makes ur lips feel PLUSH, got me through many Canadian Winter without cracking. ALSO as per Dr. Shereen idress mentioned in her video, this product has Beta-Glucan, which even in the smallest amount, has a very similar effect to Hyaluronic Acid, without the downsides. Also it isn't cruelty free because China has been buying LA Neige, as well as every Amore pacific brands from the 90s. No excuse tho. But they do not test on Animals themselves. If Charlotte Tillbury can be bought by Estee Lauder, who tests on animal point blank, yet get a leaping bunny label for Chalotte tilbury, Aveda & so on, Common now 🙄
It's funny you mentioned about the low rise jeans, they are in style again!I'm not on the train either but it's crazy how some things come back in style!lol
Last week, I went to my dermatologist to freeze some moles that are bothering me and also to check on my progress since starting retinol. She agreed with you Cass, and said; "Unless you're a teenager, both Cetaphil & Cerave are useless! They may not irritate your skin but they'll do NOTHING for you. You're better off with La Roche Posay or Avene to treat sensitive, acne-prone, itchy/flaky or dry skin, at a similar price point".
The Laneige lip sleeping mask really worked and it saved my lips when I got bad reactions from the eos lip balm, which dried my lips rather than moisturizing.
I tried the dollar store version of the blemish dots with zero expectations and a smidge of worry during a breakout and they actually seemed to work! I would love to see a review of those kind of cheapies and their ingredients.

You did Cetaphil pretty dirty. For people with eczema like me, i still go back on Cetaphil because it's the only cleanser that is really gentle.
Exactly about the eczema. My son has it and Cetaphil is absolutely the only thing I use to clean him. This product might be one of the few that needs some animal testing for the sake of individuals with real skin conditions like eczema.
@@JuniperLynn789 Surely some people would test volunteer. There's no excuse for animal testing.
Readers choice is the best picked via polls from the readers. Best of beauty is determined by a lot of trials and testing by staff
Came here to write the same thing. Cassandra should have looked into that very easy-to-find fact😒
@@allisonwebb4278 it’s pretty self explanatory too! It’s the readers choice! Hence they aren’t experts lol
Cetaphil is fine imo. I prefer Cerve but I think they’re effective and safe for the price.
I have the laneige and that is actually a silicone applicator that is shaped like an eyeshadow brush.
No no! You’re English was very very good! Thanks for the comment ! That’s very interesting to know hehe I feel the same (о´∀`о)
Can you say more about the newer beauty products and trends in Korea?
I've been using Cetaphil for 24 years now. And my 53 year old asian and sensitive skin love this product. ❤
Always take award winning products with a grain of salt. You just don't know till you try or use them personally
Cetaphil doesn't have to be 'revolutionary' - it works & has stood the test of time.
I love cetaphil honestly, the cleanser and moisturizer changed me entire life
I’m 55 and have been using Cetaphil products (at my dermatologist’s recommendation) since I was a child.
Cetaphil is one of the only face washes that doesn’t break me out. Love how clean my face feels afterwards
Some of us with very allergic/reactive skin who have to be picky with ingredients can't always choose the cruelty free version :(
Shea butter is an acne trigger:(
I refuse to believe this is really the readers choice
I think it’s the beauty editor’s choice according to how much the brand pays them
@@ALT-vz3jn I thought the same haha
When I was like 15 the makeup lady at Nordstroms used a clairisonic on me and the next day my face swelled up to the point I couldn't see, not sure why but I've never had a reaction to any skin care product like it before or since that 😬
Oh wow I’m so sorry you went through that at only 15 😣
Oh no that’s terrible!

I started dying when she said you could make a horror movie out of the cleansing brush, st ive’s scrub and Nivea plus seaweed 😂
17:16 I'd love to see you try the Timeless vitamin C serums (they have a 10% and a 20%)! They're cruelty free, contain ferulic acid and vitamin E, and are incredibly affordable.
Yes! I use the 10% and love it!
I love the First Aid Beauty moisturizer! Highly recommend! I hate those Wander Beauty eye patches and $5 for one use isn't worth it. Save your money.

@@tomcoward16 Like what?
Idk how.
Lol only 50 years off 😂 I cracked up too!
SAMEEE The Ordinary peeling solutiin is like my babyyyy using it for 2 years it is so akazing i don't care of people saying it's overhyped
I honestly prefer the CerVe cleanser to Cetaphil. I feel like Cetaphil always left a film on my skin and didn't always do the job.
Male politicians 🤣🤣🤣
And female politicians, if anything some of them might be even worse lol
Beagles are the best...I have one...so sad.

Honestly I have bags from my thyroid disease and hereditary dark circles. Anytime someone gifts or gives me samples of eye masks or eye cream, I get majorly offended. That’s just me though
I always ignore the Allure stamp. Seems like companies just pay to get on the list.
Same. I always assumed there were kickbacks involved.
Waaaait does Burt's bees have vegan options?? I assumed bees were their thing so I haven't read any ingredients lists 😅

The FAB ultra repair cream is amazing for my dry sensitive skin! I love it! It also has colloidal oatmeal that I’ve discovered is great for my skin. It’s very hydrating and calming, it helps with mask wearing irritation and excessive dry skin in winter
For me 2! I have exzema and this is about the only cream that seems to improve my skin

I haven’t tried it yet but heard great things. I just wish it wasn’t in a dropper, since vitamin c degrades with sunlight/air exposure.
@@luckyDancer100 I keep mine in its box in the fridge. That helps. My last bottle lasted me about 8 months with everyday use. By the time it was oxidizing, I was almost done the bottle. Keeping it cold and in a dark area really helps
It is so worth it ! Plus the brand has peer reviewed clinical studies to back up the efficacy of the product.
Dude, no respect for Thanksgiving. Stores near me have been stocking Christmas stuff for weeks. ITS NOT EVEN HALLOWEEN YET. Thanksgiving has no chance.

Cetaphil has Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate - a type of detergent. Cerave is much better, plus it has ceramides.
Apparently cetaphil recently reformulated but neither of those are cruelty free
I wanted to love cerave because of the beneficial ingredients, but cetaphil just works better for my skin (even with the harsher surfactant). I have been using a combination of cetaphil gentle cleanser and cerave moisturizing cream for years with success; I definitely get acne still (I have treatment products for that, and it's probably more due to my diet tbh) but my skin isn't irritated and feels balanced (not dry, not super oily).
Ceramedx is the cruelty free version of CeraVe.
I appreciate that you give us cruekry free options but aren't making people feel like villians if that is not for them . 💜
So glad you highlight if a brand is anti-cruelty or not. This is becoming a major factor for me in deciding if I am going to purchase a product.
We can tell Cassandra is having a good hair day when she keeps flipping them so joyfully!!
I have rosacea and Cetaphil is the only thing my skin can handle when it's angry. This is exactly why I take people like you and hyrum with a grain of salt.
The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is literally the best, most hydrating lip balm I have ever used!
Yasssss 🤟🏻😄🌟
I agree. I’ve been using it more than 2 years and it literally hydrate and smooth my lips.
Thank Dr. Dray. U have helped me sooooooooooo much, and now ppl r watching u bcz of me and Cass. We always tell ppl about. It's wonderful.
I agree, Cassandra! That list is Yawn City for the most part. I love the Wander under eye patches and the Ordinary peel, too! ❤️
Also a Cetaphil lover over here! Using tretinoin on a daily basis, and this cleanser keeps my skin calm. And I tried A LOT of cleansers!
Sounds good! I'll look into it as a cruelty free option.
If Charlotte Tillbury can be bought by Estee Lauder, who tests on animal point blank, yet get a leaping bunny label for Chalotte tilbury, Aveda & so on, Common now 🙄
FYI Costco has the Perricone Vitamin C for $54.99 and it’s on special now for $18.00 off.
There is another Vitamin C Serum, with E and Ferulic acid for about $20. It's Dr. Brenner Vitamin C Serum.
Can add Geek & Gorgeous C-glow to the list, as well as the Lacura dupe for Drunk Elephant.
My favorite is Beautystat C skin refiner. It’s strong as hell, formulated by a well known cosmetic chemist. His probiotic cream is also amazing.
Florence By Mills lip mask is the best lip mask I highly recomend it!
I tried the dollar store version of the blemish dots with zero expectations and a smidge of worry during a breakout and they actually seemed to work! I would love to see a review of those kind of cheapies and their ingredients.

It is clear brands buy the Allure Readers Choice. These are just ads.
The FDA or these who regulate advertisements should crack down on this. It is misleading and deceitful. If content creators have to disclose everything, this magazine should be held to the exact same standards.
