I did not like "Mine" at the first listen. Now it is one of my favorites. Sleep Token makes music. It is art. You have to reflect yourself on the piece. Mine is phenomenal.
Sleep Token is not a metal band, they have Metal songs. I think people expect them to make “The Offering” 12 times over, and that’s just not who they seem to be. Creatively, and talent wise they can literally make whatever they want, and they do. That’s very hard to come by, to me as artists I see a lot of similarities between them and “a thousand suns” era Linkin Park. Very much paving their own lane and you can’t really compare it to anything else, ...their genre is Sleep Token haha. Personally I loved everything about this record, but you are right it’s a grower, and I think it takes getting over the initial shock of being so different. Give it time mate
Yup, they do their own thing whether its pop, dark ambient, metal, or heart wrenching stripped down pieces. This is why I love them so much is for their diversity. As far as the similarity between sugar and mine, I don't particularly see it. They're different songs with a different message
@@ZodionComstockBassist me too! Absolutely love everything they do and I don’t see that comparison either, this whole album is completely different, which is hard for an artist to do which just shows you how talented they are. Creatively and artistically they are just miles above anyone one else in the rock/metal scene
@@MrJdub322 yup like in TLYW they used millennial pop elements like the clapping to signal a big part was coming and it worked, and it's so good. Then they go full on vocoder for Fall for me and that song is powerful, these guys are masters right now.
We do indeed like that, very much ST ride this weird parallel of being the perfect gateway band for metal and also being the biggest breath of fresh air for tackling the genre as a whole, perfect for old heads and new blood alike
I never really watch reaction videos, but this band is my favorite of all time so far, so thank you for being one of the few who react to them. For those of us who don't have others to share this underground type of music with, it's wonderful watching someone else enjoy this so thoroughly as well. Please keep it up and continue to react to them simply so their community has a place to go to enjoy them together. Thank you and my recommendation on the album is Fall for me.
They're truly one of a kind. I'm not as thrilled about this album compared to their last one but it's beautiful nonetheless. You didn't do a video on it but I'm sure you've encountered it, but their blood sport song from the room below version, it would've been cool to see your reaction to that as first listen, but what did you think of it? Just curious, with you being into heavier elements, did that song version still work it's way onto your playlist?
You ever heard of Polyphia, Drew? Super dope instrumental group with influences in prog, metal/jazz, and hip hop. Think you'd love them, INCREDIBLE guitar work. They are extremely popular too, so you'd probably do some great numbers on a reaction. "O.D." and "G.O.A.T." by them are great starting points. Cheers
Sup Drewski! Glad to see you're still going strong my man. I've been extremely busy lately and currently recovering from the bs rona, but all is well on my end. This track starts out a bit slow. A little underwhelming at first but definitely not a bad song. Anyway, take care and keep pumping them videos out! Wish you and your family nothing but the best! If you can, react to Baard Kolstad's MOON drum playthrough (Leprous) Trust...
it is impossible to rate this album. he is unique. there is nothing like this in the world. this is new. there is still no point from which to evaluate them. no. there is . this is sleep token
I respect your appreciation and how much this album means to you, but this is their most inconsistent and generic album. Still better than a lot of pop in terms of lyrics and musical talent, but they kinda went autopilot halfway through this particular album.
“Altcore” is my go-to for anything pop/rock/electronic that incorporates core elements. Also I definitely didn’t click with Mine either, I’ve warmed up to it more but it should have been swapped with Like That to keep the flow of the album up
Mine is so emotional it's amde me cry, but you need to have something in your life have the lyrics mean something to you as well. It kind of annoyrs me people expect all their tracks be heavy tbh, I love their variety.
The tracks on this album are so varied. I can’t get behind missing limbs, it feels too much like a different genre. Like That is a great track though, Do You Like That? Yes I do.
Alright drew, what in the fuck have you composed that gives you passage to shit on that first song? Please link me to your perfect music you have created. I can link you to all of my music.
100 likes on this video and I’ll drop my ‘High Water’ reaction!🔥
I love all the songs, sometimes they take a couple listens to really absorb it all, but each track is top tier
I love both of them, Like That is this album's version of Sugar for me. And Sugar is probably my favorite song ever

I don’t even try to pigeonhole Sleep Token into a genre. 😆 They just do whatever they want and the end result is just great music. 😊
Deep aggressive Hozier🤣

It definitely wasn't my top pick when it first came out but goddamn hearing the first verse again at the end gave me goosebumps... man is so emotional

I totally agree and I must also offer up my sins unto Sleep, I do wish they made The Offering 12 times lol. It is that good of a song.
"Mine" is my favorite from the album at the moment. But, my favorite has been changing rapidly, so many stand out tracks!
I felt the same about several songs, but they grew on me and I love the whole album so much, got it on repeat since the release 😁
I always describe the music as "atmospheric djenty dark pop"
We do indeed like that, very much

I’m just a fan like you man. I’m always looking for people to react to them as well, they get very little acknowledgment unfortunately..

Baard himself has commented on every reaction to this video btw, so if you do decide to react to this, sneak some questions in there for him haha 🤞🏼
Hope you're getting better Drew! Keep up the good work 👍🏼
We're just gonna call the genre "Drewcore"
I'm digging your reaction videos so far, probably the best reaction videos on youtube. You just earned a subscriber.

What’s the song from the intro?
Don't hear on Spotify. It normalizes the sound, what is most time not good :/
