His mind was already set. Even after getting kidnapped by Jukebox Tariq still wanted to be with the shits. The legit path in his bias eyes was just a form of control from his hated dad, and he wouldn't have listened to it from Tasha either cuz he saw her as Ghost's lying puppet too. Tasha practically saved his life by teaching him the game, cuz he was gonna trial & error it till he ended up dead thinking he knows more than he does. She kept his head above water while Ghost was being delusional thinking he still had his son's trust in doing what he says. Like Ghost told his son, he'd rather him dead than be in the game. He wasn’t lost in a fantasy, he was making it his top priority. Countless time in Omari’s chapter of power you can see Ghost attempting to transition from a Kingpin to a legitimate business man. In the first episode when he was speaking with tasha he reveals he wanted more than just the game; tasha disagreed with him and that’s where she lost him. Had it not been him choosing tommy over going legit he would’ve actually been legitimate business man but like tommy said in the new episode of book 2. You’re either fully in or fully out no in-between.
