Hi dear Kat and Marc, I’m Aydin, originally from Iran. I was born in Tabriz, a city in northwest Iran ,and educated in Tehran. For 14 years, I worked as an Ear, Nose, and Throat surgeon, subspecializing in Rhinology since 2019. I’ve performed over 2,000 surgeries, particularly Rhinoplasty. Recently, I’ve embarked on a new chapter in my life by immigrating to Canada and settling in Vancouver. I’m currently dedicating my time to improving my English language skills for the CELPIP exam and preparing for the medical MCCQ1 exam. I’m married and have a ten-year-old son. I am a big fan of football and In my free time, I enjoy watching the Premier League and bundesliga, movies, series and listening to podcasts
Wow thanks for sharing such a detailed and interesting introduction! It sounds like you're a very accomplished professional who should do well in Vancouver! Best of luck with your exams as well!
Hi I am Bea! I’m from the Philippines. I was born and raised in Bulacan. Its about 45 mins north of Manila. I worked as a school nurse and made the jump working in a hospital a while ago. In my free time, I am into traveling and camping which sometimes go hand in hand.
Hi, I'm from Italy, from a small village 40 km from a city known for things like the Palio, Cantuccini - biscuits with nuts-, and other stuff. It's called Siena. I have worked as a teacher for 7 years. Among my hobbies and passions I am going to mention reading books of various genres, binge watching TV series from sci-fi to detective stories, fantasy, historical ones, mostly based on English History. Travelling is another hobby of mine. I have been to English speaking countries like Wales, England, Ireland. I have visited other European countries like Greece, Spain, and Switzerland. Interesting what you highlighted, I didn't know what to do with my working life either. I wanted to do a career shift, too. And here I am. I had a mind shift, a career shift. I realized I was much more passionate about being with children, playing with them among other things. Even though at times I feel overwhelmed, on the other hand I haven't experienced anything more fulfilling.
Thanks so much for sharing and introducing yourself! You've visited lots of places I've never been to, including Wales 😅 Do you teach English in Italy as well? Your English is very good!
Thank you. I teach here in my home country. Let me tell you I do envy you a little bit because you've been so courageous to teach English abroad. Anyway, different stories indeed. That's it. I love your lessons!
Hi! My name is Zhaina and 22y.o I am from Kazakhstan and I live in Astana I work as a teacher for year and I like your podcasts . Every day I listen your podcasts and it helps me improve my English skills.Thank you ❤️
Hi my dear teachers. I learn a lot from you. I'm from Brazil and I'm a teacher like you. I'm here to improve my listening skills and learn new words.😅 👏🏼 Teacher, Kat, these flowers are for you. 💐
I love your English Channel so much. With many super useful videos, especially this podcast, it is both wonderful and unique. The coordination, expression and humor of the two teachers (Kat and Mark) are the best. Knowledge is easily absorbed and remembered quickly. Season 1 and season 2 are the best English lessons I have ever learned even though I am 28 years old and have studied English for many many years. Luckily, I know this channel and I am really addicted to this. Thank you very much, teachers and producers. ❤❤❤
Thanks for the video. It's very helpful. I really like your way of teaching, especially when you act. Indeed you're great actors. And a good teacher should be a good actor as well. I think, that's why you are brilliant teachers. I wish you all the best. We are always here to learn from you.
Aw thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, we want to make things feel "life like" even if we are just sitting in front of a computer screen, so happy you enjoy it, thanks for joining us!

Thanks again for such a good video ! I’d like to say that if you’re an EFL teacher you teach the language in a country where English is not the official language …an ESL teacher teaches English to non native English speakers in the USA, the Uk, Australia ..so I’m from Venezuela and I’ve been an EFL teacher for a long time …
Fair point! I have definitely heard both, and I've seen job advertisements asking for US and UK EFL teachers and ESL teachers, so it seems like the phrases are used interchangeably.
Listening and surrounding yourself with English means you will learn a little bit each day, step by step, practicing and repeating will help you continue to learn! Good luck!
Hi, I'm Sychanh I'm original from the country have many spicy food, we call Lao I'm a student i study at Xaysomboun high school in Xaysomboun province i live in Pha Xa ngob village and surround by mountains and hills i have much passionate about English, so i wish i can go to travel in another country ❤️
I changed my career= I made the jump ( challenging, a little bit scary, risky). Oh, I like it! How would you put "made the jump" in a sentence having to do with a career shift ? Sometimes I get stuck because I don' t know which preposition goes after such expressions
I suppose the prepositons would mainly be only these two: - I made the jump [to] teaching. - I made the jump [from] marketing [to] teaching. I'm trying to think of others but these are really the only options that come to mind!
We always think that grammar is a wonderful base in English, but learning complicated rules can make learning feel boring or tiring, and we want you to enjoy communicating and using English to talk to people, so we hope that we can give you a mix of both grammar and commonly spoken sentences to help you feel excited about learning!
I am from Houston Texas. I want to talk to you for learning English.because English is my second language.I want to you as a teacher.. How can i contact with you please tell me
hi, I want to tell a litle bit about me. where do i stat it? hmm.. my name siwi from Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta is one of part Indonesia Country. I have been a Vet since 20 years. i am interistiing in travelling, teaching and waching your podcast and stuff like that. i addited to your podcast. i am 47 years old, i hope it is not to late for me to learning english languages. my big goal is I can Speak English well.. love you kat and mark.
Hi, my great teachers, greetings from Brazil. I would like to ask you if both of theses sentences have the same meaning: I’ve worked as a teacher… I’ve been working as a teacher…
Yes they have the same meaning! In both you can also include how long you have been doing it. - I have worked as a teacher [for 12 years]. - I have been working as a teacher [for 12 years]. We might make a video in the future about the grammar differences between the Present perfect and the continuous in the future because we know it's tricky
- Present Perfect Tense: "I have worked" This means I started work *and* I still work there now. To make this clear we also add some extra time information, such as how long we have worked. "I have worked as an ESL teacher [for 12 years]." (and I still work as one now). - Past Simple Tense: "I worked." This means I stopped / I finished work. I don't do it anymore. We can also add extra time information, like how long ago. For example: "I worked in a school in South Korea 10 years ago." We can also add time information like how long we worked there. "I worked in a school in South Korea for 3 years." ... but remember that we STOPPED this work. Hope that makes sense!
Hi everyone 🤗 I've a question for you guys if you don't mind 🙏 Can I say ( I was born and fed in Ireland, instead of bien and raised or Born and grew up in...x?
Interesting question! I can't say I've ever heard [born and fed] before. If someone said it to me I would understand them and assume they are making a little joke or trying to use a funny alternative. :)
It's very commonly used in spoken English to say "If I was..." instead of the proper grammar we learn in textbooks "If I were..." both are used and both are acceptable!
@@highlevellistening thank you so much, I really didnt know. you know I've learnt english from the books. 🤣 that s why I think my english is a bit classical, or even archaic if I may say so. hhhh many thanks again.
I've never seen anyone make an English teaching video that good.
Wow thank you! 😊
Thank you very much, teachers. I like your channel. ❤

I changed my career= I made the jump ( challenging, a little bit scary, risky). Oh, I like it!
How would you put "made the jump" in a sentence having to do with a career shift ? Sometimes I get stuck because I don' t know which preposition goes after such expressions
I suppose the prepositons would mainly be only these two:
- I made the jump [to] teaching.
- I made the jump [from] marketing [to] teaching.
I'm trying to think of others but these are really the only options that come to mind!

Hello dear teacher for learning english is garmmer more important or speak ing?
We always think that grammar is a wonderful base in English, but learning complicated rules can make learning feel boring or tiring, and we want you to enjoy communicating and using English to talk to people, so we hope that we can give you a mix of both grammar and commonly spoken sentences to help you feel excited about learning!

Thanks for studying with us! Unfortunately we don't offer 1-on-1 classes at the moment, but if that changes we'll be sure to let you know!

Hi, my great teachers, greetings from Brazil. I would like to ask you if both of theses sentences have the same meaning:
I’ve worked as a teacher…
I’ve been working as a teacher…
Yes they have the same meaning!
In both you can also include how long you have been doing it.
- I have worked as a teacher [for 12 years].
- I have been working as a teacher [for 12 years].
We might make a video in the future about the grammar differences between the Present perfect and the continuous in the future because we know it's tricky
the defence between ( I worked , I have worked ) 15:00
- Present Perfect Tense: "I have worked"
This means I started work *and* I still work there now.
To make this clear we also add some extra time information, such as how long we have worked. "I have worked as an ESL teacher [for 12 years]." (and I still work as one now).
- Past Simple Tense: "I worked."
This means I stopped / I finished work. I don't do it anymore.
We can also add extra time information, like how long ago.
For example: "I worked in a school in South Korea 10 years ago."
We can also add time information like how long we worked there.
"I worked in a school in South Korea for 3 years." ... but remember that we STOPPED this work.
Hope that makes sense!
Hi i am Aman from India.

Hello to you both i liké born and rise
Me too! It's a special phrase for me as an American and it's a nice way to talk about our childhood and our hometown. Thanks for joining us!
Hi everyone 🤗 I've a question for you guys if you don't mind 🙏
Can I say ( I was born and fed in Ireland, instead of bien and raised or Born and grew up in...x?
Interesting question! I can't say I've ever heard [born and fed] before. If someone said it to me I would understand them and assume they are making a little joke or trying to use a funny alternative. :)
grammar is necessary for language ?
Grammar helps you learn rules that are commonly used and can help you express yourself more clearly, so it is a good base to learn more and more.
👍👍👍✨✨✨🙏🙏🙏
Thank you so much for joining us!
hi, thanks, but can we say:"If I was..." as you Mark ve said.?
It's very commonly used in spoken English to say "If I was..." instead of the proper grammar we learn in textbooks "If I were..." both are used and both are acceptable!
@@highlevellistening only in spoken, or even in written?
In speaking and writing we often say this too.
- If I was you, I wouldn't do it.
- If I wasn't already working, I would offer to help.
@@highlevellistening thank you so much, I really didnt know. you know I've learnt english from the books. 🤣 that s why I think my english is a bit classical, or even archaic if I may say so. hhhh
many thanks again.
Haha, it’s common! Honestly don’t worry too much about it but we are here to help when we can ☺️
