  • Please join me and Reese Townes as we travel from Meadview Arizona down to see the Colorado river and explore the very exposed banks. We also drive to Peirces Ferry which is nearby.
You can check out Reese's TH-cam channel "Gold Seeker Adventures" here.

    About Aquachigger:
I enjoy metal detecting for historical items like gold coins, relics, silver coins, and other buried treasures. I also metal detect for gold and silver nuggets and even meteorites. I like to make videos that promote my choice of lifestyle that includes outdoor adventure,
metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed by most people who are not familiar with outdoor adventures and nature. I keep my TH-cam "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
BTW, you can also catch me here, / chiggsarmy ,but I may get a little edgier there. FB isn't a place for kids anyway...lol.

I was born in Vegas and would go fishing in Lake Meade , 1961-1966 . It brakes my heart to see it today . There is something about the desert mysterious and deadly .

I worked at a marina when it started dropping. We had one of the bigger marinas on the lake . We had to move the marinas every two to three days to keep up with the drop in the water. All the marinas were doing whatever they could to keep up with it. Boat ramps were closing all around us. It is a sad site to see what the lake looks like now and knowing that it will never be the same again.

Thats South Cove on Lake Mead. The boat ramp was extended a couple of times with Pipe Mat -the last section before the drop off. Then the NPS closed that ramp for a while. You could try to launch kayak or small boat just north of the ramp, where you were in the beginning of the video but its rough going now. When the lake was higher a couple years ago I kayaked out of South Cove and went upstream (out to the right) a few miles. There were some great little coves with small sandy beaches hidden away. One spot looked like the Caribbean the water was so blue . Beautiful days camping with plenty of driftwood for a fire believe it or not ! Now that spot is 50-60 ft above the waterline.
Pearce Ferry is the pullout for a few River Outfitters that run the Colorado thru the Lower Grand Canyon hence that ramp. There is one major rapid downstream before the river empties into Lake Mead proper- was called Superimposition Rapid later renamed Pearce Ferry Rapid AND it has been un-runnable because of its incredible power and dangerous Hydraulics- you heard it in your video. The lake used to be navigable up into the river towards Pearce til just below tha rapid. Now the sediment has piled up so much, it a miles long slog of inches deep water impossible to get thru to get into the shallow canyon. Sadly the ramp closures have affected Meadview and Dolan Springs areas economically since fewer tourists, boaters and rafters come thru there now.

I worked in the movie biz for a few years. Enough to learn that any commercial use of federal lands requires a permit. Has been that way since the mid-70s. Videos/photos for personal use are not commercial photography/film. Chigg is not charging a fee for us to watch his videos and he's not selling prints of his photos. His videos are "non-commercial" use, even though he has sponsors and can monetize. He's not selling anything to us. Hope that helps. - Muddypaw 🐾
