    Thanks for the pointer. I just ordered and built my pilot watch with a blue dial and Seagull movement. But you do have to be careful with the Miuksi shop. They mix up movements with the second hand at 6 with a dial with the seconds at 9. Some casings don't match the dial. You have to check a few measurements. Well, I got nearly everything right, except the second hand that was too long for the dial. I used the hand that came with the movement. Still 130.- Euro including tools.

    People will pay more for a hand holding experience. It’s not the restaurant analogy, it’s the food box analogy. You can buy produce and make a meal cheaper than Factor or those other companies but if you are nervous about it or don’t care, getting the hand holding experience is worth it.
    It also helps people who want to gift something without having to become an expert themselves.
    I am interested to make a hobby of this so I have taken time to learn what tools I need and what parts I need. Buying from a US website (not being entirely convinced about buying directly from China without protection) my tools and parts are not much less than DWC who are a company who offers a service and makes a profit.

    You are partially correct, but those tool kits on Amazon don’t have many of the tools to assemble the watch. They usually contain only enough tools to install/adjust straps and change batteries, not much more. Tools for removing and installing hands, loup, blower, pad, etc. are not included. I agree the watch only kits are far more expensive then they should be but the price with the pro tool kit is a much better deal. Generally, you’d buy only once and take the course along the way. Then you go to other sources for DIY parts.

    I decided to buy a seiko 5 on sale from Amazon to mod instead of a diy kit. Also bought tools from Amazon.

    Just found your videos on this subject after thinking that DIY watch club might be overpriced knowing that most companies are usually get their supplies from China (especially for watches). So thank you for these details, I'll start making watches without overspending now xD.

    Ok, not gonna lie, I was going to comment on your other video with an analogy about how DIY watch club is like going to a restaurant vs buying the ingredients yourself, but....damn, DIY watch club is a rip-off.

    you are not adding the cost or running a business selling a product to consumers. those companies selling parts buy them from China in bulk and sell them to you that's it; you have a question about putting the thing together, good luck. The DIY CLUB had to spend money and hire people to do customer service, answer questions, do marketing, make those tutorial videos, source and package everything for you, make the packaging, boxes, etc, etc , all that cost money! you can't possibly compare some store in China selling individual parts to a company selling kits with customer service, they are completely different types of businesses. Are their prices a bit high? sure, but if some people prefer the convenience of buying the complete kits from them then they are doing something right. Like someone in the comments said, you can buy the ingredients and cook a nice dinner for $50 or go to a fancy restaurant and get charged four times that for less quality ingredients and nobody is calling them a scam, its just not the same thing...

    • @NotAnotherWatchChannel
      @NotAnotherWatchChannel  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sure, except they are literally the same company as the ones selling the parts and just rebranding them to charge more. It’s just a Chinese parts kit coming from the same literal factories. This isn’t some hip American company buying the parts and paying import taxes and putting a nice package together, it’s the same people just upcharging you. Be less blind.
