@@andrewmeri4211 i think it had to do with the aniversary of the communist party in China... the popularity of fantasy dramas didn't leave much room for republic / ming guo period dramas ( these are almost always kinda "Mello" - in the Kdrama sense - as they have to do with the traumatic events which marked the era ). Also there seems to me a lot more "youth + international compitition" tropes that were released this year - which carries the message of national pride and highlighting the success of chinese advancements in multiple fields ( in fact a lot of "added scenes" to IP dramas were added to include this " criteria" for airing.
So I found Meng Yao/Jin Guangyao's face/demeanor unsettling BEFORE I finished the original series, and seeing him behind Nie Huaisang knowing what's going to happen is just...no.

I came here bc I can't move on with the normal version of the drama. I just have to say that the way WWX react when LWJ put silencing charm on him is way too adorable. And I yelled everytime LXC shows his WangXian shipping nature as in 26:28 he understands his brother well
I've missed their days attending lectures at the Cloud Recesses. Times were much simpler and we could still see that beautiful smiling face of Wei WuXian's.
I just finished watching and I loved Lan Zhan and Wei Ying all over again. This special edition focuses on them, back and side stories are omitted. In this version I found Lan Zhan smiles more, their gazes at times are more intense or gives off the special feels. Loved it again 1/21, 9/22❤

Yanlii I liked too...she is such a tender character who is loving of her two brothers no matter how different their personalities are. In fact, she is so accepting of everyone including Wen Ning. Wen Ning is so loyal to those who are kind to him and has a unique look that makes him stand out amongst the crowd.

Okay, as someone who did not read the book or watch the animation and was confused as hell by the original version - THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER! This version makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE than the original because it is prioritizing explaining the metaphysics and character relationships over overemphasizing the plot. The political situation, the presence at Lan Zhan's school, the whole magic situation all makes so much more sense presented this way, and without that super confusing flash-forward in medias res in the original version, the characters feel more authentic for their approximate age and the chemistry feels a lot stronger in this cinematography. I actually get it this time. THANK YOU EDITORS!

I think the special edition helps newbies understand the storyline more. I mean when I first watched the 50 episode series and Wei Wuxian died I was wildly confused haha. So this special edition starts off perfectly with the flashback at Cloud Recess for fans to gain a better understanding. Also, I will never ever get over Lan Wangji's entrance, ever. That is how he entered Wei Wuxian and our lives! Dang it Wang Yibo!
I really wish there was a dvd box set for us international fans of either the normal or special edition. This show is a masterpiece and I love it so much
One detail that I appreciate is what they did with their hair. Pretty much all the boys during their time at Cloud Recesses have those little bangs framing their face to show that they're youthful and innocent. After they grow up, like when Jiang Cheng became clan leader, those bangs get pulled back and tucked away neatly with the rest of their hair.

Okay, as someone who did not read the book or watch the animation and was confused as hell by the original version - THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER! This version makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE than the original because it is prioritizing explaining the metaphysics and character relationships over overemphasizing the plot. The political situation, the presence at Lan Zhan's school, the whole magic situation all makes so much more sense presented this way, and without that super confusing flash-forward in medias res in the original version, the characters feel more authentic for their approximate age and the chemistry feels a lot stronger in this cinematography. I actually get it this time. THANK YOU EDITORS!

Vi la versión original (de 50 capítulos), después leí la novela, vi la versión chibi, estoy escuchando el audio drama, volví a ver la versión original y cuando encontré el "Speical Edition" me dije a mi misma que no iba a verlo porque acababa de terminar la serie de nuevo, además que todo lo anterior lo vi en menos de un mes y aquí estoy, comenzando la edición especial, solo porque leí que tenía escenas extendidas que mostraba más del WangXian. Cada versión vale totalmente la pena, la historia es demasiado hermosa 🥺🥺❤❤❤

I think the special edition helps newbies understand the storyline more. I mean when I first watched the 50 episode series and Wei Wuxian died I was wildly confused haha. So this special edition starts off perfectly with the flashback at Cloud Recess for fans to gain a better understanding.
Also, I will never ever get over Lan Wangji's entrance, ever. That is how he entered Wei Wuxian and our lives! Dang it Wang Yibo!

One detail that I appreciate is what they did with their hair. Pretty much all the boys during their time at Cloud Recesses have those little bangs framing their face to show that they're youthful and innocent. After they grow up, like when Jiang Cheng became clan leader, those bangs get pulled back and tucked away neatly with the rest of their hair.
