Awesome to hear Katina!! Congrats on the new to you Jeep!! Look us up on Facebook, our group is Pirate Off-Road Nation, we welcome everyone and all makes and models!! :) Cheers!! Jeff
I have a 03 liberty limited with traclock and was pleasantly surprised how much toyo open country at tires helped. Some mud tires would help even more. I also have a 84 cj7 so I know what true offroading is all about. I have had my( cj7 on 33's with 6 inches total lift) over on its side and mud coming over the hood a few times. The liberty is a tough offroad vehicle.
Libertys are great for off roading and daily driving, I own a liberty and I only have good things to say with the expection that I bought it old and it had some minor problems
The 02 - 05 kjs liberty's are brilliant and when it comes to climbing hills their as good as anything else mine gets anywhere n all its got is tyres so far
I miss my liberty but love my jk. Sad to see the liberty didn't have a long production run. Hope they get rid of the compass, patriot and the new "Cherokee "
How's the jeep doin' nowadays? I still have my 2003 and it's a great vehicle. It really works well with all the varying - sometimes extreme - weather we have up here in the Endless Mountains.
ive been researching suvs for months and I have had my eye on a jeep liberty for years only ever owned 2 older trucks I tell you this video has made my mind up I want a liberty lol the one im looking at is a 2007
That liberty seems to be doing good since you said it has street tires in this clip. I've been thinking about getting a Wrangler, from the late 90's or early 2000's. Looks like all those wranglers behind you were modified.
I have a 02 Liberty (Limited Edition) myself hopeing to take the thing 4x4ing here with the Alberta 4WD club all i need is tow hooks and a CB and im good to go taking it in with no add ons (lift kits stuff like that) glad to see im not the only one proving that the Liberty can 4x4 Peter
Hey Jeff This is identical to my Liberty but mine is an 06 and the only1 on the west coast with the Rubicon package.... The first owners before us stuck a airlift adjustable air suspension system and 6 sizes bigger tires then stock... Hope to come do this trail with you's... It looks like fun and possible for me in 2x... My liberty barely ever see's 4 wheel unless it's really sketchy.... Cheers hope to see you's soon...... Brent
@Twitchy380Magnum No actually we have a 2" drop front end and 1.5 - 7" inch above stock height airbag system running on 285's or the equivalant to 32's....
I have a 2001 that's in amazing shape and I put some meaty bf Goodrich tires and the thing is unstoppable I get mine int much deeper situations ...all around great buggy..only drawback is if I are a 6 + foot person it is going to feel cramped
I was the one who added you last night!! Welcome to the Pirate Off-Road Nation. We have a great krew and lots of knowledge of your Jeep if you ever have any questions!! Cheers!! Jeff
@troyatl68 In stock form the Liberty isn't that great for technical trails, but with a bit of fine tuning they'd be great for light wheeling duty; and if a person is ambitious they could take the time and do a SAS and have a vehicle comparable to the XJ...
Interesting, perhaps with a 2inch lift, this could be an alternative to the Landrover Defender. My concern is the paintwork, I do not think it would last long, green laning in the UK, listening to branches and twigs scratching down the sides.
I'm trying to make a choice between getting a liberty jeep or a Toyota Camry. Still researching...found a 2004 liberty not too far from home, some surface rust on the exterior, a few body trimmings missing, engine sounds good, underneath is relatively rust free, needs AC gas and regulator, interior is okay.......it's a used one imported here from the US. Price could be better however, knowing spare parts on American vehicles is usually costly in my part of the globe!
@farmerjonjd It'd actually be a little better. I took my stock 03 liberty out with a bunch of modified 4x4s including a 5 spd cherokee with a 4 inch lift with 31x10.50s and had no trouble what so ever on some things that they had a good bit of trouble on. The liberty's stock airbox being at the top of the core support actually made me the guinea pig for crossing creeks due to the high placement of it.
@Bentsford Sweet I would love to see some pictures of the setup, are you from the Maritimes? My 04' KJ Limited is getting close to done now with the Solid Axle Swap 6" of lift and 35's. I have never seen a Libby with an AirBag setup I think that sounds pretty cool, you can find my Build on the NS Jeep Club site under Jeep Builds. I was running a pretty custom OME Setup @ 5.5" lift with the IFS and 33" X-Terrains with some rubbing issues and alot of CV shaft replacing before the big swap began.
The stock Liberty tires were NOT good off road. Most people were just using them to get through light snow so Chrysler decided to put quieter tires on instead of the more aggressive tires that were noisy. I swapped mine at 25000 for General AT and those things bite.......
its better than a more capable vehicle leads the other cars , if you have a stock liberty leading everybody loses a lot of time and could be difficult to winch it if the trail is narrow
alright well i admit i didnt really watch the whole video lol but still older jeeps had so much more capability than the new ones i have an 81 cj7 and i wouldnt take anything for it
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty 4x4 limited edition and it’s expensive to fix 😩 -bought it for $3700 -$1200 to fix ac -bought a new engine $2080 -$1080 to put the engine -new starter $155 -new radiator $140 -new radiator fan $122 And still no fixed 🤷🏻♂️
@@ericschwan7353 Though since posting this 7 years ago I bought a Wrangler MOAB, had it for 5 years now own a RAM Laramie and I'm NEVER going back to Jeep again after owning 5 of them.......
@bouchanda joy , I wouldn't define Liberty as a SUV, I think it's more than that. It's not a M G, it's not a Patrol or a Toyota FJ...but definitely it's not a SUV either. I think that was a good work, the car hasn't any differential lock and if it was lifted 5/6cm up, its performance would be much better. Anyway, well done and nice video. @Victor Ruiz , a piece of advise? if you are looking for your first car....honestly, I think you should go for a different one...KJ has poor steering and maneuverability, and it can be annoying for an inexperienced driver... and fun for a senior one
@Twitchy380Magnum I've been trying to upload a pic to my channel but it keeps cutting off the bottom of them...lol I was living on the other coast but moved to the prairies for better work and better pay.... I will be doing another Video. If you'd like to see the before the Winch bumper and after pics you could always add me to Facebook and you'll see the Libby on my profile pic.... Brent Cornish Check out my pic's and i've put a couple vids of me being crazy on my channel...
@Wafflegame I don't see where anyone specifically called it "mudding". What I see on the video is trail riding. In fact, being the Liberty in the vid is stock, it did quite well. Looks like everything else there was modified. Oh, and stopped producing quality the '90s? BS. Early Wranglers had such a sorry manual transmission that junkyard replacements were hard to find. Later Wranglers actually had better quality and manual transmissions, including the current Wrangler. You are clueless.
people like this are a burden on a trail ride though ,no tellin what the hell they might tear up ,like the libertys though I think theyr nice little all weather vehicles but I dont think chrysler had this in mind for em,thats a wranglers place.
Take notice on every video on TH-cam concerning off roading , two tracking, mudding, etc... there are ALLWAYS 2/3+ people trying to one up each other about what they know or think they know via text comments. Just watch the vid! Or don't watch them at all. Its kind of sad and pathetic.
@Wafflegame the liberty is supposed to appeal to grocery getter moms, so adding it was actually pretty smart. and that mid 90s fact is BS, my 98 wrangler is a tank. get your facts straight.
I just bought a 2006 Jeep Liberty Limited 4x4 with sunroof; I'm a happy man!
I just remember the old days with my Libby...., nice compact capable machine, KJ's rocks!!
I had the option to get a 2003 Jeep Liberty & ain't sure until I watched this video now she's mine I love her thank u for posting
Awesome to hear Katina!! Congrats on the new to you Jeep!!

Just got a used 03 KJ, love it. Planning to raise it 2.5", cold air intake by KN, adding Jet Performance chip. Flowmaster exhaust. " Black Sheep"

Holy crap!!! Did I make a great buying decision 💪!!! thank you for this video👍
Not bad right out from factory. Just little modifed here and there, then already to go. Very cool video and five stars rated!
Libertys are great for off roading and daily driving, I own a liberty and I only have good things to say with the expection that I bought it old and it had some minor problems
I'm impressed that Liberty got through there. Nice.
Wow, that Liberty did much better than I thought it would. Thanks for the vid!
I want a jeep liberty now after seeing this video
The 02 - 05 kjs liberty's are brilliant and when it comes to climbing hills their as good as anything else mine gets anywhere n all its got is tyres so far
awsome great video can't wait to get my Libby off road thanks for posting !
Awsome video and I was really impressed at what a stock liberty can do! Oh and I LOVED the beautiful shepherd in the begining of the vid!
Well this video convinced me I will look into some Jeep Liberties
Same I am definitely getting a liberty now
I ended up getting an Xterra and I love it
They are excellent winter vehicles.
I miss my liberty but love my jk. Sad to see the liberty didn't have a long production run. Hope they get rid of the compass, patriot and the new "Cherokee "
I love my liberty to. I also wish they still make them.
How's the jeep doin' nowadays? I still have my 2003 and it's a great vehicle. It really works well with all the varying - sometimes extreme - weather we have up here in the Endless Mountains.
Wish my liberty was 4x4. My mama got the 2 wheel drive version and it ended up being my first jeep. Really want that 4x4.
ive been researching suvs for months and I have had my eye on a jeep liberty for years only ever owned 2 older trucks I tell you this video has made my mind up I want a liberty lol the one im looking at is a 2007
get one man I just got an 02 liberty limited it's fucking great
i ended up getti g a dodge nitro im in love with it
Their biggest flaw is ground clearence, I have 2007 and I know it, but you did great job.
That liberty seems to be doing good since you said it has street tires in this clip. I've been thinking about getting a Wrangler, from the late 90's or early 2000's. Looks like all those wranglers behind you were modified.
would love to try out my 06 CRD on a trail like this, thanks from a grateful Canadian Forces member.
The best cars ever. Jeep liberty 🗽

Impressive as all get out. I bet the KJ's older brother YJ/TJ's, etc...
had to be proud of what the urban friendly Liberty could do. Not bad.

alright thanx man. cool thing is in a couple months im getting a dual intake on mine. so i can get better air flow
Four year later, how are old Liberties holding up?
I'm wondering where they going 🤔.
I like the Liberty because it looks funny
I’m 10 years old and my dad got a 2003 Jeep Liberty and it was silver and black and he got it in 2007
Gotta keep a little bit of momentum going if you're going to do that kind of stuff. Especially with slick street tires
Is there anything the liberty can't do?? I have a 04 and just can't let go...
nicely done that means there is hope for my stock as it gets wj..!
Thanks
From all the forums I'm on it seems like people are saying that the wj I have has all the worst equipped stuff that jeep offered back then..
looks like a kewl place to make a run..
I need some help, I'm thinking about buying my first car and I want it to be a Jeep Liberty, should I go for it or no?. I really like these trucks
not gonna lie that is impressive for a stock liberty.

Nice.. Is this Liberty on 4lo or 4hi? I'm assuming 4lo would be the most useful setting for this type of slower paced run?
The stock Liberty tires were NOT good off road. Most people were just using them to get through light snow so Chrysler decided to put quieter tires on instead of the more aggressive tires that were noisy. I swapped mine at 25000 for General AT and those things bite.......
What engine and was it handshiften or auto? Somebody nows?
1:35 it is a stock tires?
I use the tires that came with the car, isn't that what those are?
Just needed some aired-down MTR's and he would have had no problems on any of those obstacles.
i have a 2003 Jeep liberty Freedom Edition. only thing is its 2wd. could i still offroad like that.
its better than a more capable vehicle leads the other cars , if you have a stock liberty leading everybody loses a lot of time and could be difficult to winch it if the trail is narrow
Ya Gotta love a JEEP
She does good on the trail. Throw a rear locker in it and you could go through much more!
great video!! :D
alright well i admit i didnt really watch the whole video lol but still older jeeps had so much more capability than the new ones i have an 81 cj7 and i wouldnt take anything for it
was that one of your dogs or some random wolf?
Yet another example of how "Trail Rated" a Libby can be on stock tires & suspension.
Just imagine what it could do on 31" tires & a 2.5" lift!
impressed.
are there street tiers on that
@Bentsford
Rubicon Liberty lol. So your on 245's?
where is it now?
Pretty good for a stocker.
KJ❤❤❤
Jeep berry Good cars
Ericka Andrade the best cars because it's a vehicle for all terrain
city and off road
where is this trail?
where you guys are located
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty 4x4 limited edition and it’s expensive to fix 😩
-bought it for $3700
-$1200 to fix ac
-bought a new engine $2080
-$1080 to put the engine
-new starter $155
-new radiator $140
-new radiator fan $122
And still no fixed 🤷🏻♂️
I have the same car with selec track gearbox. Tell me why on a part time 4x4 it's better than full time? That is what I supose.
cubanpl part time is meant for part time use while full time you can keep it in all the time
hardly need 4wd with limited slip, i shall post once shit gets muddy :D
Stock Liberty gets it done!
i bet the guys in those nice lifted wranglers are pissed! lol
Proof that the Liberty is far from a "chick" wannabe jeep.... Love it.

Hate to be the guys in the Wranglers that got stuck behind this liberty.
lack of lsd bro (offroad package) .... sorry...
This is a stock Libby with stock, wet street tires. Give 'em a break.
