Neither are the rainbows. Many people don't realize that rainbows are only native to the west coast states but have been well established from coast to coast. Either way, we're glad to have them!
I’m a medical student and have a huge respect for the fly name hantavirus. For those who don’t know hantavirus is a bunyavirus, RNA- sense. It is transmitted by mice. I must buy one now.
Awesome video as always! Thanks for sharing! I may have to tie a few of those mouse patterns up, and definitely going to stop by Sheridan on my next trip up to MT from CO.
Hi, nice fishing, that first fish you caught is just a little bit bigger than the mouse fly i use during the mouse plague here in NZ! Well I exaggerate a bit, after all I am an angler. A few years ago I went fishing with an American angler on his visit to Aotearoa and we fished Lake Okataina in thre Bay of Plenty. We had a good days fishing but my American friend was getting pissed off with me telling him to put his catch back into the water as the fish were too small. He asked “how big do these fish have to be before I can keep one ?”. The regulations for that water was at that time 55cm (22 inches approx.)! He finally hooked into a decent jack and was told that he could keep that one but if he fished Lake Tarawera he would have to give it to the hatchery, he loved the fishing but to this day he swears that I was exaggerating. Harera
Yeah… I won’t pay for a guide 800 miles away to catch those caliber fish. Most cases multiple 20-24” a night on mice are basically expected and chances at 15” brookies in select body’s of water. Day time 3 miles away from home I have better size averages on a creek as well. I’ll stay in Wisconsin.
I'd like to see actual data claiming 65F is stressful to rainbows and browns. MAYBE for brook trout, but this has not been my experience over the past 40 years in the field.
From my experience, when I go fishing the day after “the really warm day”, I see a lot of dead fish (trout) on the bank from inexperienced handlers and potentially too warm of water. It might be a stretch but the end note is to just keep the fishes health in mind! 😊🤙 tight lines
The data shows 68F has a slight increase in mortality and 73F more significant mortality. The percentage points were in the single digits to low teens. According to the data posted below, no mortality was shown at 65F.
Lol saying that Sheridan is special and there is probably areas as good when fishing what I'm 90% sure is private property. The public water has so much pressure around Sheridan and it's one of my least favorite places to fish in Wyoming.
"....not doing these fish any harm...." Ya, just let him flop around on the rocks, then hold him out of the water afterwards just to get a hero shot. The deeper water where you let him go should have been where you took out the hook. C'mon guys...🤷🙄
"It's not about size it's about length" that gave me hope.
The love and respect shown for the fish in this video is honestly so beautiful
At 0:23 just want to let everyone know those browns are NOT native! Great video as always guys 👍🏼
Yes! Thank you!
Thanks for pointing this out Capt. This is my # 3234 pet peeve!
Im sure it was a honest mistake. We cant all be Dr behnke

Are any Browns really native...I mean come one we know how they got here🤙🤙🤙🤙🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪
I appreciate you talking about river temperature, more anglers need to carry thermometers with them!
Fantastic Mark
Love the video, the mouse fly seems exciting to fish.

Thanks, I was going to look up that name. We will put up the flitting video for this fly next week on Tuesday. Cheers
I love fishing for trout and salmon, also pike muskie and stripers on fly rod ,I dont own a regular rod anymore.
will be throwing a mouse and some cicada patterns on the Delaware this weekend🤙🤙🤙
I like October and Nov in NY they are more aggressive here but feed on mice rats and frogs its awesome when they hit

Elena it is first week of October and they are taking mice patterns on the surface
I guess theyre using mice in october lmao
Brown arent native in the US 😬 i think you meant wild but its all good
he meant wild, thanks for your feedback
If I had a nickle for every time... ;)
Thaught of the exact same thing, checked if somebody else noticed before saying anything lol
Also about to say
Awesome video as always! Thanks for sharing!
I may have to tie a few of those mouse patterns up, and definitely going to stop by Sheridan on my next trip up to MT from CO.
We're going to put up the tying video for this pattern next week on Tuesday if that would help you
Awesome video great action. Fantastic footage
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video guys ! I occasionally work mice here in the Catskills, but never in daylight, gotta give this a try ! Tight lines
You should!
Nice video Mark 🎣👍. I've never tried mouse patterns trout, only for Pike & Bass.
Chill guys, they corrected the Brown Trout as “Wild” @4:39
That was awesome.
Native browns and rainbows in Wyoming?
he meant "wild", we all know they are not native. thanks
@@newflyfisher 👍
Love the video we always talk about it when a nice plague is on
I wonder if this would work in southern Ontario
definitely

Did he say native browns and rainbows?
he meant "wild", we all know they are not native. thanks
I've never caught a mouse with a fly... lol
Up herein western Canada, I've only ever caught a couple of cutts with a mouse fly.
Are browns native to America?????
any trying video for the October Mice?
We will post it next Tuesday since there was so much interest in this pattern. Thanks for asking
I need a wool beanie like that.
Wonders never cease. lol

The native brown mouse
😂
I had know idea that small of fish will eat a mouse.
Yes, private water makes it all seem like this is possible for anyone...

I've never had that problem but my waters are pretty cold even in the summer.
I didn't see one 'big' brown in the entire video. They were all tiny.
I gotta try that! I bet on conventional that mouse will slay too🤔🤔🎣 awesome video love Wyoming trout vids
For sure!!
Wyoming is real exotic lol
I thought brown trout weren’t natives to the USA?
you're right, he meant to say "wild" trout
There are no native brown or rainbow in Wyoming. By the way, invest in a net if you're interested in fish survival rate.
native browns in Wyoming? not native to Americas. good video none the less
the browns, rainbows arre notnative. perhaps wild but not native
Rainbow and brown trout are not native to Wyoming. You are confusing wild fish with native fish
Mouse resembles a big bug...fish will hit damn near anything when hungry.
Post release Mortality? So keep em and eat em. That's what being an outdoorsman is about, filling the freezer
Keep em til there are no more fish left hey? Yeah, good plan. Lol trying to prove you're a real "outdoorsman!"
Maybe invest in a net
Brown are native like Buffalo soldiers. 😂
yes, Mark said that wrong, not what he meant.
Sorry, but brown trout and rainbows are not native.
agreed, he meant wild trout
Everyone and there helios 3s lol
👍👍👏👏💪🤝
Native browns eh 😂
WAY too many comments regarding his "native brown" comment...relax folks, we all know browns are native and we all know it's not a big deal lol
Call the wambulance!!! He said native 😭. Never fear the experts are here !
Wild not “native”
You're absolutely right and that is what he really meant to say
or feral, not wild since they didn't swim across the ocean from a natal river ;)
Fish to eat
Trewt

I agree M P
Would someone please teach this guy how to pronounce Trout...lol.
I'm Canadian.. Give me a break haha..
Mark
@@newflyfisher haha get your Zed on!!!
I find it amusing how you Canadians say troot instead of trout
You mean tray-out? Lol
