Well, in 15 years, I have broken an ulna and radius in same arm, broken all toes on right foot, broken both thumbs, torn meniscus, loose bodies in elbow, dislocated S.C. joint, pierced lip from tooth after kick to mouth, popped ribs, kicked in between eyes broke bridge of nose and orbital had raccoon eyes, staph twice, hurt feelings, and a couple concussions…. I forgot what point I was trying to make
Raleri rugby goggles and wrestling headgear are the best solution. Raleris are expensive but have fog protection and offer great protection / field of view. Been using eye protection for 3+ years… raleris are the best.
thanks a lot for sharing this info. I have a surgery on my left eye from an issue I was born with and I feel I don't train at a 100% because I don't want to risk it. I do know how you feel. I've been training since January this year as a hobbyist, training 3 times a week and I guess with that gear I'll improve. thanks!
I have rce been training bjj with goggles since last year it's been hit and miss but I am getting some new ones and trying it out with a rugby cap to hold them in place. Judo is actually a bit safer for my eye considering that there isnt as much ground time plus with the way the grips are. For boxing/muay thai wear a headgear with a metal face cage i basically look like a truck with a bull bar on it 😂
Bro I have the same problem as well. IBJJF unfortunately doesnt allow me to wear it for the coming toronto open. Hopefully get to train with you sometime soon as i just moved to riv-sud Montreal.
Unfortunately, i got a tear on my eye and now I only have one good eye. It's been years since I stopped wrestling/MMA, but I want to go back at least train. I will give this a try
Similar boat. I’ve had 3 eye injuries (2 from bjj and 1 from indoor skydiving) and wore prescription goggles during bjj after each. I seldom wear them now, except when I am playing a new game or use positions where I catch myself getting poked in the face a lot. I haven’t tried it, but apparently there is a product called “Cat crap” (amazing name) that is supposed to work well to keep goggles from fogging up 😂
Hey Brandon. Have you ever tried wearing rugby headgear along with the goggles? I scratched my cornea and found that goggles alone would always slide off but when I added the rugby headgear they would stay in place. Plus I think it looks pretty cool together.
Brandon, do you offer any kind of online coaching, where you would review takedown footage and give pointers, future goals? I started BJJ as an adult, so no official wrestling experience. I love takedowns, but as you know very few jiu jitsu gyms teach takedowns well, and I feel like my progress has been extremely slow.
I accidentally scratched someone's eye during bjj. I felt really bad about it. luckily they walked it off and felt fine the next day And I've had 2 eye infections when I first started bjj from not being used to the dirty mats and not washing out my eye as soon as I felt something get in it. Now as soon as I feel like there's anything whatsoever in my eye even if it might just be an eyelash or tiny bit of dust I'll tap and say I need to wash my eye and go to the bathroom to wash it it out. My gyms mats only get swept like twice a day.

😅
New BJJ fear unlocked. Also have you tried a defogger spray? Try one for motorcycle visors
I should try this - and same. It wasn’t even a thought until it happened
@@brandonreed3x narrowly avoided getting scratched in the eye last night and thought of your goggles!

Rec Spec Max 100s + Cliff Keen Wrestling head gear and you’ll feel like a monster (maybe look funny though)!

Competition is not so bad. Usually less risky. I should be there competing at the IBJJF open! I think
@@brandonreed3x see you there man! I will come say hi!

How do you prevent the googles from slipping upward toward the top of your head? I know you mentioned the head gear. Thank you
Headgear

I use Cliff Keen Wrestling head gear over mine. Similar concept
@@brandonreed3x Gotcha. I'm sorry this happened to you man. Eye injuries are awful.

Sorry, I don’t. But if you’re ever in Montreal I do private lessons. I also have tons of Instructionals at brandonreed3x.com/store

Glad you’re ok
You need to switch gyms
bro when do the mats get steamed/mopped, that shit sounds disgusting
TBH is kinda fitting with googles given how sweaty these training rooms get.
Goggles are great
I actually do like your goggles, you look a little bit more distinct and cyberpunk with them
I appreciate it
I have been spamming this question.
Lots of people have. Hard to respond to every single one. Now I don’t need to
i love goggles, no more worries about rolling with spazzy white belts
Literally. Don’t mind chipping a tooth. But an eye getting hit just sucks
yeah that's why academies in the past banned white/blue belts from leg attacks....
