Two years and I still love watching people discover this incredible performance
Hopefully I was able to give a half decent reaction, because he just blew me away
Same here... well deserved and wonderful, isn't it?!!! 🎉
Never gets old does it?! I'm 2 years in myself now 🖤
Same! ❤ and this was a wonderful reaction 👏👏
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx
Very genuine reaction
❤️
60 year old from Minnesota
When it comes to Ren, throw away all expectations. He never does the same thing, even when he "covers" his official release with an acoustic performance. Years of suffering from Lyme Disease gave him depth, and honesty. Years of busking on the streets of Brighton gave him his voice and presence. Monetarily, he is doing fine, these days. He has requested that if you want to donate money, do it for your local charities, and first responders.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. He is an incredible artist and, for me, he somehow just reached into my soul. I was blown away. I did a bit of research after the reaction and saw that he is monetarily fine and supports charities such as the RNLI - it's good to see an artist with a real conscience
Welcome the Reniverse! Appreciated your reaction and perspective. If you continue into the Rabbithole, you will find he places absolutely no limits on his artistry and his generosity extends to the people he works with. Even his retakes and covers are uniquely hisnown. To learn more about Ren himself, highly recommend checking out his Million Subscribers video and he published 8 Chapters about his struggles as part of the Troubles campaign, meant to raise awareness about autoimmunity and other chronic illnesses. These are on his second YT channel renmakesstuff, which is also the home of amazing BYS videos, including one for Hi Ren.💜
@@K8TDidToothank you again. I feel honoured that people actually watched my video and commented. It's definitely a very positive sounding rabbit hole for me. Such talent doesn't come around very often
Before Ren got Lyme disease, he was street kid, smoking, boozing, using drugs. A hugely talented, musically gifted street kid but a wild child for sure. His health struggles and the deaths of two childhood friends, Joe and Mackay, made a man of Ren. Maybe even saved his life because he was headed down a dark road. And we have all seen too many talented young people fall to drugs and alcohol and wild living.
@@LeesaDeAndrea that's true, too many rise too fast and turn to poor coping mechanisms
Welcome to the Rabbit Hole. It is said that there is life before Ren and life after Ren. We call ourselves Renegades, and we love watching Reaction videos so that we can experience it for the first time again. He is self-taught in piano and guitar, sings, raps, produces, and directs. He does multiple genres often in the same song. Your only expectation when you listen to a Ren song is that you will be surprised. Usually, people follow with the tale of Jenny and Screech. To get to know him a bit as a person, his million subscriber video is great. Enjoy!
Thank you. My journey is just beginning. What an incredible talent he is. I can't wait to check out all his work
Im 63 and this young man has quickly become the most important artist of my lifetime, new sub to watch your discovery of this once in a lifetime artist
Thank you. It was my first time with Ren as it was recommended but it certainly blew me away. It's difficult to put into words as he just seems to reach into your soul
I’m 74 - same ❤
@ it's amazing isn't it
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx I'm "only" 51 and agree, he's so good at everything! Incredible
Seeing a comment like this usually I'd think, Yeah, yeah. That's a little exaggerated. Calm down. But in this instance I totally agree with you. I'm very soon to be 53 and in all the years I've been listening to music of a wide and varied range I've never seen an artist like Ren before. Words don't seem to do it justice when saying how talented, inspirational and more than anything else, important to many, many people who have been lucky enough to find his music. It doesn't matter what genre he feels like doing on any given day he brings next level lyrics, direction, production and performance every single time. He has a song for every mood and a song to put you in another mood if you're feeling a certain way. I've not been in my car and blasted my music since I was in my twenties but lately I've been known to turn the volume up after dropping the grandkids off and pumping Power or Losing It many many times now. And the fact he's so connected to his fans and has come out and thanked the reaction community on TH-cam also speaks volumes to his loyalty, morals and integrity. Most artists will copyright strike you for playing their track. But not Ren. He sees it for what it is and enjoys seeing people's reaction to his songs and their point of view. It is a big statement to say there's been nobody as important as Ren in our lifetime but again in this case, it is so, so true.
Loved your commentary on Ren’s art ❤
Thank you, much appreciated
John I'm so happy to see you react to this. As someone of a similar vintage to yourself my reaction was the same as yours although it took several listens to pick up some of the nuances that you got straight away! I don't know if you realised that this was a live performance, recorded in one take. They were using the building without permission and only had time to do a few takes before they got kicked out!
I agree that he is a generational talent and for me he is the most impactful artist since the Sex Pistols shook the establishment back in '76. His album 'Sick Boi' made it to number 1 in the UK charts in Oct 2023 which as an independent artist on TH-cam was some achievement.
The breadth and depth of his talent is really diverse and way beyond just rapping. From harrowing songs like 'Suicide' and the incredible trilogy of 'The tales of Jenny and Screech' through to his days of joyful busking on the streets of Brighton with his band at the time, The Big Push, there's something for everyone and he has attracted a global following of all ages.
Forgive the long comment but as you can probably tell I am one of those completely under his spell!
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I'm astounded to hear that this was a live performance, that just takes it to another level. He really is a game changer for me. As you say, us of a particular vintage have seen a few game changers and Ren is right up there with all of them. I'm only just starting on my journey with his music but somehow he's reached in and grabbed me. I need to check out a lot more of his work, and it's so good that his talent is being recognised by a growing audience
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx It was a joy seeing the impact of Ren's performance move you. As you age, I find it gets harder to discover something you've not seen or heard before. As opposed to being lost in the magic of the performance, you critique what was involved in the presentation; it's a challenge to 'believe' and get lost in the magic of the song. With this video, it was kinda like when I first saw freestyle motocross, I had just never imagined that level of skill and commitment before.
Everyone will have their recommendations, here are mine that I'm looking forward for you to experience:

@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jxI’m soooooo jealous that you have probably 100 songs from Ren that u still get to listen to for the first time. Enjoy my friend!!!
@ thank you
Ren is one of the few artist I consider to be a true genius. I put him in a class with Bowie and Buckley.
He no longer needs financial assistance, as his music is supporting him well now, something he takes great pride in. So the best way to support him is through his music.
Thank you. It was a first for me and it just blew me away. He truly is an incredible talent and so good that he has received recognition
Be prepared to be blown away again and again and again, he's fabulous, us old ladies love him😁
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Seems like I'm now an old man who loves him. Totally blew me away - he's incredible. I've got a lot more to find out about him
Congratulations on finding Ren. Been a fan of his for two years now. He’s only gone and changed my life. He’s truly an inspiration. Cheers
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. He is an incredible artist and I've only just started to listen to him
Ren is totally independent and totally self taught , guitar and piano
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm starting my Ren journey and learning a lot. My biggest question is how do you get talent like that - and I'm so glad some people do!
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx Ren has been in the darkest of shadows and that is what enables him to wield the light and shine so bright a light for us all 🥰
He did achieve a number one album in the UK😊
Thank you, I didn't know that. I'm just getting started on my Ren journey and I'm already blown away.
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jxbeat out Rick Astley last October. Rick seemed proud of him, actually.
Brilliant reaction, i really hope you do some more, he is truly exceptional, and we are very loyal fans us renegades, please react to The tales of jenny and screech next, then the busking band he was part of , The Big Push singing I shot the sherrif, road to zion, hip hop , he's wearing red braces ,well done on your spot on pronouncing of Bore Da
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Reacting is new to me as I generally review tracks. I've had a lot of recommendations on what to watch next, including those you suggested. So I need to get busy.
Regarding my very limited Welsh, I was taught a little from a good friend who's first language was Welsh, but that you for noticing.
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx I agree with cbradio that "the tales of jenny and screech + violets tale" is in my humble opinion the best way to get Ren in under your skin.
After that there arre so many options.
By the way .... If you just started reacting, you are doing a smashing job.
Best wishes
Henrik/Denmark
❤ Thank you for your reaction ❤ Ren is an incredible human and, yes, a genius ❤ Looking forward to more Ren ❤ Much Love ❤
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I don't normally do reactions, more reviews. But Ren has definitely got me hooked, an incredible artist
Genius.
Nice reaction very well analyzed and welcome to Ren you going to enjoy his work i can tell.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. You must know me 😄as I know I will definitely enjoy his work
Here is some brief information about Ren:
Ren Eryn Gill was born in Wales in 1990 and grew up in Brighton. He studied music performance at Bath Spa University. In 2009 he became seriously ill and had difficulty attending lectures. In 2010, he was signed to Sony Records. However, as his health continued to deteriorate, he had to terminate the contract.
Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder and chronic fatigue syndrome, which led to him suffering from psychosis. It was not until seven years later that a doctor in Belgium finally diagnosed him with autoimmunity and Lyme disease, which led to brain, organ and joint damage as well as PTSD. After stem cell therapy in the United States, his health improved considerably. However, he continues to suffer greatly from his illnesses. For over a year he is now undergoing treatment in Canada.
In October 2023, his album "Sick Boi" was number one in the British album charts.
On his RenMakesStuff channel you can find an autobiographical reading about his story in eight chapters. Very personal and emotional videos. His song Troubles is a kind of condensation of these readings. Absolutely worth watching.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share all that. Before the reaction I knew nothing about him. But now know what an incredible artist he is.
I've got a lot of his work to check out.
Seems like he has had more than his fair share of medical issues
Extraordinary talent this man possesses. His trilogy of Tales of Jenny and Screech is also a masterpiece that should be experienced.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I will definitely be checking out more of his work and the trilogy you mention has been recommended. He's an incredible artist - just blew me away
@BritishDadReacts- the trilogy shows his Shakespearean tragedy side.
This is a deep rabbit hole. Subbed for your ride. 5:33
Brilliant reaction. So glad you found Ren every one in the UK should know about him. Would love to see you do more Ren reactions. Tales of Jenny & Scretch and the Money game trilogy are some of his most famous. Chalk outlines is another brilliant one, all of his busking videos. He really is limitless with regards to genres. Enjoy.
Thank you. He is an incredible talent and I'm looking forward to checking out more of his work.
The trilogy you mentioned was suggested by quite a few people 👍
Loved your reaction very calm concise and inciteful
Watched this in January 2023 and have been enjoying everything else he has created since then .
There are millions of us not just You Tube but other streaming services all ages in his fanbase and groups
He is the most exciting artist I've encountered in decades
Not sure of your musical preferences but he covers many genres plays guitar bass piano raps sings drums a little and produces his own music
He has played in two bands Trick The Fox when signed to Sony around the time he got sick 15 years ago and The Big Push after Stem Cell Transplants helped give him respite from Lyme 2018 to 2022 Also many collaborations with other artists and solo music.
❤
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. To be honest, I have a wide variety of tastes in music, but Ren just blew me away. He speaks in a way I've never seen before and I'm just getting into his stuff - so still a newbie! I did read about some of his medical issues, but didn't know everything and didn't know about his previous musical collaborations - so thank you for that.
Just to clear things up, Stem Cell Transplants in not a band he was in it was a procedure he went through😂
But it is a cool band name!
Fantastic reaction my friend... you will enjoy the rabbit hole 🐇🐇 of REN... in my opinion the most talented artist on the planet at this moment in time 2025 ....👍👍💙💙
Thank you. I'm not used to doing reactions I usually do reviews, but this just blew me away. An incredible artist
Great reaction.
Thank you. I'm pretty new to reactions as I normally do reviews. So appreciate your comment
I'm just adding my name to the list of many many many beautifully mostly broken humans Ren has affected with this piece. Like many I found him approx 2 years ago thanks to my teen daughter installing TikTok on my phone one day when hers wasn't working ... I kept seeing the clip of the very start of the song and it caught my eye as I too recognised the feeling the room & hospital gown evoked ... I headed over to youtube and for probably 3 months after my 1st listen it was as if my entire soul had been smashed open ... finally someone who understood. I don't have a chronic illness as such but I have severe mental issues stemming from a car accident many years ago in which it was fatal for me but then not if that makes sense. Rens words make it possible to transverse then across all illness bringing together a community of like minded humans who totally unintentionally have formed amazing online support communities which as you hopefully travel down the rabbit hole of Rens vast catalogue (spanning/ crossing/ mixing genres as he goes)will discover for yourself..... it's alot to absorb ❤ love from Birkenhead
Thank you for commenting and so sorry to hear about the issues you've faced.
This was my first time with Ren and it blew me away.
Based on all the comments I've had he certainly has inspired a large group of people who are open and supportive of each other. It's so refreshing to see that.
I'm looking forward to checking out more of his work
You are about to discover that the fanbase is an integral part of the artistic experience. There are no equivalents.
Thank you. I hope I do, some musicians are true artists and this guy is, well, just amazing. Blew me away.
I concur with every word you said, I am 62, been into music all my life, played in bands, and still write and record songs to this day. I have never encountered an artist that has completely blown me away like Ren has. His catalogue of songs will astound you, his singing, rapping, guitar, piano, music producing, film directing and performances are all top tier. enjoy the journey
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm not a musician such as yourself so find it a bit hard to react (imposter syndrome I guess) but I'm so glad I did. He's an incredible talent, and I have a lot more checking out to do
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx Your reaction was perfect, no need for imposter syndrome my friend, I watch a lot of reactions and yours was brilliant.
@ thank you so much. I really appreciate that.
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx It is obvious to me that you are a lover of good music and the Arts in general so there is no need to feel like an imposter, just be true to who you are and nearly everyone on this side of the screen will appreciate it (there will always be trolls underfoot but treat them as you would if you found them in the street, stride right by because they are a waste of everyone's time)
@ thank you, that helps. I started doing reviews of music because I saw some reaction videos and just thought that they weren't giving me anything so I decided to try it. I don't have any fancy equipment or do any editing but I enjoy it. I think it's just that in my professional career, there is no such thing as a reaction - it's data, facts and hypotheses
First hand experience can sometimes give a clarity beyond our physical years.
Absolutely agree, he has such insight
What a beautiful reaction. I hope you check out more from Ren. He has so much to offer, not just musically but emotionally and creatively too. There is always something new to take away from his music. ❤
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I will definitely be checking out more of his stuff, he really got to me in a way that few do - blew me away really
Ren is truly a generational artist! WELCOME!!! ❤ ...I can tell by the grey (sad aint it) that we share a similar timeline...While I still love all the great music from our hay days....this young man came into my life about a year ago...and I now listen to very little other than his catalog and that of his marvelous crew of collaborating musicians, whom you will no doubt soon be meeting!!! Subbed to share in your journey down this ever-astounding rabbit hole !!!✌
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. It is crazy that someone can have so much talent and can have such an effect on us of the more older vintage (who've seen a lot). I will now be checking out his other stuff and have had some great recommendations on what to watch
Welcome to the ranks of the "Renegades"!!!
Thank you, most kind
'I don't know what to expect '. LOL! You never will mate. The Reniverse a place where predicting what one of the most original artists of our time is going to do will help you AT ALL.
Welcome to the rabbit hole. I'm jealous that you can experience him for the first time.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm starting to get the feeling that this guy is a generational talent, and it surprised me how the track I reacted to really got to me. Looks like a great rabbit hole to be in
Be prepared for your channel to grow tenfold as you react to more of Ren's music. It's inevitable.
Thanks for that. I do as just a hobby but hopefully I can add a bit of value
Oh it's such a joy to watch someone go through the same sense of wonder as we all did. Excited to see the rest of your journey down the Ren Rabbit Hole!
Thank you, and you're right. It's like a veil has been lifted and you can never go back - or was that the red pill?
Notice the Bowie album , you have discovered an artist that eclipses Bowie talent
Well spotted, I tend to change the albums around. Difficult to make comparisons, but Ren speaks to me in a different way - difficult to describe, but somehow deeper.
So nice to see a uk reactor do Ren,its criminal that hes not more widely known. Hes a gifted musician, taught himself to play guitar by slowing down YT videos ,hes a poet not just a lyrisist, hes a wonderful human and funny funny funny. To learn more about him you could watch his 1m subs video. But the next step is usually jenny and screech, a trilogy that should be played all together. His busking videos are also worth watching. Ive subbed to watch you become a renegade 🇬🇧💙
Thank you for watching and for taking the time to comment and subbing. I'm still pretty new to YT and normally do reviews, but someone asked if I would react to Ren. But I am so glad I did, and I now have so much to catch up on, and I'll be checking it all out. I still find it difficult to describe the impact of just that one song - so I can't wait to check out more - thanks for suggesting jenny and screech. He's so much more than a musician.
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx☺️ We know. We’ve all felt that 😉 That’s the sign of a sprouting RENegade.. 🥰 Welcome to LAR (Life After Ren)
Seeing the vinyl on your shelf, you're gonna love this guy. Really looking forward to seeing your opinions on his other material, especially his earlier stuff. Check out a track by his old band The Big Push called Precious.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I guess I'm old enough to have original vinyl, but not too old to appreciate genius talent. I've got a lot to check out from Ren, thank you for the suggestion
Ren will change your life
I think you are right - it's already stuck in my head
Get ready for great ride. It gets better with every song!
Thank you. I'm looking forward to going down the Ren rabbit hole
He's a stunning and incredible artist and you get more and more drawn to him the more you see and hear. It's a long and deep journey but believe me when I say it's well, well worth it.
Probably the most all round talented artist there is (arguably ever)
Thank you. I was blown away by his video, what an incredible talent. I am looking forward to checking out more of his work
Another UK OAP sub! Ren is in my top tier along with Bowie, Kate Bush and Pink Floyd. Excellent reaction.
Thank you for watching and your kind words. It's certainly changed my perspective - it just moved me in a way I can't describe
Great, heartfelt reaction!! Happily, Ren is now making enough money that he has asked his fans to no longer donate towards his health expenses, as he says he is massively proud to finally be able to do it himself. He's also now able to spend $20,000 and more to make his videos as opposed to things like HI REN, whose budget was roughly 100 pounds. They found the wheelchair on another shoot, they borrowed the lamps, and they had no permission to film in that basement, so they were thrown out by the landlord after only 4 takes.
Thank you for watching and taking time to comment. It was a straight up reaction and I had no idea of his work. Also I don't edit my videos so it's all done in one.
Some others commented and mentioned about how they did the video. It's incredible and he's such an incredible artist. I will be checking out more of his work in the future
@@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx Elizabeth Zharoff of the Charasmatic Voice interviewed Ren maybe a year ago. He went into the making of this and many other videos. It was fascinating and mind-boggling. I think this is it. th-cam.com/video/2d4sH8pvNfE/w-d-xo.html
If you enjoyed this song, may i suggest you react to the "Trilogy" of two songs. 1. The Tale of Jenny and Screech. th-cam.com/video/TYAnqQ--KX0/w-d-xo.html. 2. Violets Tale. th-cam.com/video/a4R9Vk5_CbU/w-d-xo.html. (Watch in order for the full story). This Tale really showcases his Music, Story Telling, Acting and Feeling.
And please do them all in one sitting.
The trilogy is three songs, as the name implies 😅
YT doubled my reply sorry. Trying again : There is a single video containing all three songs _in order_ which greatly reduces the risk people might watch them out of order or having to click on different links.
Thank you for the recommendation, I'll definitely check those out and in the order you suggest. I need to learn a lot more about Ren. He's such an incredible talent and somehow speaks directly to me, as he seems to with so many others
@ thank you, will do
Welcome to Ren. He is an all around talented artist, musician and lyricist. So glad you liked Hi Ren. His busking videos on the streets are excellent also. He does all kinds of genres you really can’t put him into a specific box. Wonderful reaction. Love wellness to everyone ❤❤❤🫶
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. He is clearly so much more than just a musician - he's so creative. I've had a few recommendations on what to cover next of his work. Thank you for your kind words
This young man being brave and creative enough to put this out there has had a lasting effect on anyone who has struggled with both the good and evil we all strive with.
Thanks for taking time to comment. Incredibly creative and brave what he did with this track. It definitely has an impact that goes way deeper than just music
New UK Subscriber for your Ren journey. You mentioned storytelling, Andrew Lloyd Webber called Ren one of the greatest storytellers he's ever seen. Utter genius is a good way to describe his talent - there's nobody on his level.
Thank you for watching, commenting and subbing. I agree, I've been around music all my life but this just blew me away, absolutely a genius. And my Ren journey is just beginning
❤
Ren is ewrythng 🤘😊🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯👍
Very glad you’ve found Ren! He’s independent so is rarely played on the radio. However, word of mouth recommendations (like you were given) and TH-cam reactions have helped him reach nearly 2 million subscribers. He’s a phenomenal artist - a generational talent - and it’s crazy he isn’t better known. But now you’ve found him you’re in for a treat - so many great songs - all very different. Enjoy! X
PS Thankfully he no longer needs his gofundme page
Thank you, and yes I am very glad that he was recommended and I reacted to this track. He is definitely a generational talent, it just blew me away and I've yet to discover all his music so I'm definitely in for a treat.
Thanks for the info about his gofundme page, I did find that out after I'd done the reaction
Wonderful reaction! Welcome aboard! Ren's demographic is as varied as the music he makes. Truly unique. Subbed for more!

Thank you. I think you're right, or at least that's what others have said on some comments
Love when someone gets the importance of this song.❤ A lot has happened with Ren's career from the info you have on Ren. He is doing well financially as his music and profile blew up close to 2 years now. Hi BDR! & Welcome to the wonderful world of Ren! This was a great reaction to this piece of art! I am sure you will get a lot of suggestions for the next of Ren's work to check out, some of it is fun, some serious and or emotional as this is. If it should get too intense, check out "The Big Push" the busking band Ren was in in Brighton. Well Done! Keep Reacting!
Thank you for watching and taking time to comment.
I don't normally react as I tend to do reviews, so this was new to me in a few ways.
I'm looking forward to checking out more of his work 👍
70 yr old Renegade here. He is the first artist I can think of that has so consistently impressed and surprised me. Self taught musician who writes and directs his videos as well. His story telling is incredible. I never tire of his music.
Thank you. He is an incredible artist and just blew me away
I discovered Ren just before Christmas and I haven't stopped watching him since. The word "genius" is thrown around very lightly these days but I have to say in the case of Ren it truly applies, he is in my mind a genius. I am 65 and grew up in what many think was the best period for modern music, the 60's, 70's and 80's. I thought we would never see the likes of the David Bowies of this world ever again. I am blown away and so pleased that Ren has emerged and entered our world. The more you delve into the world of Ren the more you come to realise that we are witnessing the birth of a true legend of the arts!
Thank you, and being of a similar vintage I agree, it is the emergence of a genius. If our years taught us anything maybe it's to keep listening to music 👍
I'm definitely checking out more of this incredible talent
Very nice reaction friend
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Reacting still feels a difficult for me, but I was just so glad to be introduced to Ren
Bore da, British dad! Or rather, noswaith dda right now as it's the evening 😊 Lovely to see a fellow Brit appreciate my fourth favourite Welsh boi! He's fourth because my hubby and two sons might be offended if I didn't place them first 😂😂😂
Isn't he fabulous?? I won't bombard you with details as others have beat me to it, but I'll add my voice to the general 'welcome to the Reniverse' commenrs. I ve been in this rabbit hole for two years now, and am still just as enthralled. My hubby loves him, too (he's 56), as well as my 23 yo daughter and my 9 yo son. Only my eldest boy isn't a fan, but he's not into music at all, so I forgive him 😁
This Cardiff lady has subbed! Lovely, genuine reaction ❤
Thank you, and I have to say my Welsh is limited.
I was completely new to his work and it just blew me away. I just don't know where people get such talent from, he's incredible. And I'm looking forward to checking out more of his work.
I know Cardiff reasonably well, although some late night memories are vague 😉
Wales produces a lot of talent. I reviewed a Maniacs track a few months ago
@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx it's been a while since I had a night out in Cardiff town, but definitely some good memories from tge latter half of the 90's!
And yes, Wales has a fair bit of talent 😊 My Welsh language knowledge is probably no better than yours, I'm sad to say. It s just not really spoken much in south Wales.
Fantastic reaction! You won't regret checking out some more of his content. Keep it up man!
(Bonus points for the Ummagumma album cover and the juggling balls on the shelf) ;)
Thank you watching and taking the time to comment. I'm not really a reaction person, I tend to do more reviews but this guy has blown me away. Thank you for the bonus points - well spotted
I’m 62 & finally stumbled across a current brilliant performer I admire. Nice job. You’ll appreciate REN’s other live, one take videos such as Jenny/ Screech trilogy& Money Game(s). Keep it up M8 - Cheers!
Thank you. He is an incredible artist and I've got a lot of him to watch. The trilogy has been suggested a few times. I'm going to be busy becoming a Ren fan
Ren is so transformative. He is utterly unique and yet so relatable. I'm about your age and I have never witnessed an artist quite like Ren. Welcome to the RENaissance and the RENegades who will flock to your channel now. I won't say too much because others may have already informed you. Just welcome and thank you.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm glad to join and need to check out more of his music/art. He just blew me away - such an incredible talent, it's crazy. I don't know what I'll be informed of, but I feel lucky that someone recommended that I react to him and that I did
Welcome to the Reniverse! This space is filled by Renegades who spread love and support! This is what could be and everyone is welcome! Huh, the new hippies?
Thank you, I'm in, and I've seen that one piece. He blew me away
I see three of my all-time favourite artists behind you: Bowie, The Beatles, and Pink Floyd! After hearing Ren's entire catalogue I can assuredly say that Ren walks with these giants. It's so strange to me that after having the same favourite artist for at least 45 of my 58 years, that Ren has taken the top spot in my heart. He speaks to me in ways no other artists ever have. It's both weird and wonderful.
Liked and subscribed.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I get exactly what you are saying and even after this one video of Ren's I'm so looking forward to checking out more of his work. It is weird and wonderful, he also just seemed to speak directly to my heart - crazy

Wow! What an amazing reaction to what is - imho - the most important piece of musical art of the modern era. It's so nice to see a fellow Brit reacting and I really appreciated your insights; your empathy and life experience shine through the screen! I hope you're prepared for the 'Roller Coaster down the Rabbit Hole of Ren'? There is life 'before Ren' & there is life 'after Ren' - prepare to be forever changed! Big love from Devon xx
Thank you so much for those kind words. It is an incredible piece of art and he is an incredible talent.
I am looking forward to going down the Ren rabbit hole
If you have some Welsh, then you would enjoy Seven Sins. Great reaction by the way.
Thank you, I knew nothing about him before this reaction. My Welsh is very limited but I'll be checking out all his work
It's always wonderful to witness someone realizing the genius of Ren for the first time! Glad to have you aboard! It's quite a rabbit hole of songs that constantly change in style as well as genre, excellent camera work by Samuel Perry-Falvey, and vivid storytelling by a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. His fans are a wonderful lot as well and we love to watch reaction videos! Subscribed!
Thank you, it was like being hit straight in the brain. I knew nothing about him before this video and am looking forward to diving into the rabbit hole of his work, he's incredible
Renegades unite! Would like to request Jenny and Screech trilogy if you want to see more from Ren. I think you’ll be really impressed with his storytelling.
Thank you. A few people have suggested this trilogy. He an incredible talent and I will definitely be checking out more of his work
Welcome to the Ren rabbithole. We call ourselves Renegades and love to watch people who react to Ren's videos. You must react to The Tale of Jenny and Screech, 13 minute version. Tells a tragic story with such unique artistry it will further blow your mind!
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment and I am definitely looking forward to the rest of this rabbit hole. I've had a few people suggest the trilogy you mention. The guy is incredible
it all comes from Ren ! bloody amazing . look forward to watching you react to more . loved this. thank you x
Thank you for watching. He just blew me away. I'll definitely be checking out more of his work
Renegade here ❤ Liked and Subscribed to follow your trip down Ren's rabbit hole 🐇🕳️❤
Thank you. It's definitely a rabbit hole I will go down
Happen to notice that your previous upload was a Jeff Buckley reaction.
Ren has mentioned that he was influenced by JB (amongst others).
Hope you continue exploring more of Ren's music, there are so many facets to it. Rapping, great vocals, great musical composition, great story telling, great videos. Fun songs, sad songs and everyting inbetween. He reaches across so many different styles and genres with effortless ease.
Thank you for taking the time to comment. I didn't know that JB was an influence on Ren.
I am definitely going to do more Ren in the future, I just hope that my reactions are meaningful and add some value
Welcome to the Renaverse
Thank you
Was just watching your Duffy/Mercy video. So sad…Ren is also Welsh and speaks the language.
An example starts his video “Seven Sins”.
Enjoy, he’s a free spirit. New sub
Thank you and hope that the Duffy video was ok.
I didn't know anything about Ren before reacting to this video and it just blew me away
@ yes, it was great! My late husband adored her, and I had wondered what happened to her… thanks Dad
@@905114it's a sad story, such a brave woman to even contemplate going back to public life
I am 5 decades on. Found Ren right when i was diag w terminal illness. He has sustained me. I listen to him every day that i can. Even w/out all my noise, he is easily the most important artist I've witness in this last decade. He is not afraid to speak of the darkest places, not afraid to call out injustice, not afraid to challenge us to look in the mirror, but also has such joy and a love of life, witnessed in other music. Many suggestions for upbeat - Back on 74, anything busking w The Big Push, Bongo Bong... his catalogue spans many topics and his voice is never boxed in. Dive into the trilogies for heavier calls. He has an amazing crew about him. Was thrilled when he took UK#1 as an independent artist. The man is real.
New to the channel and instant sub. ☮☮
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment, and sorry to hear of your situation. I was lucky enough to have someone suggest that I should react to him. Normally, I tend to review tracks and try to give some history and insight, but fortunately I listened. I have yet to react to more of his music, and thank you for the recommendations, but will certainly be checking out all his work in the future. He has definitely created a unifying movement of support - an amazing artist
What a fantastic reaction! You really hit the nail on the head with your insights into his music. I'll be 47 in March and I've been blessed to see/hear some of the greatest artists, some have come and sadly gone and some are still making music, but IMO none hold a candle to the amount of genuine creativity that Ren possesses. In my over 40 decades I've never been this excited about an artist as I am with Ren. He's doing something incredible that's not been done before and his messages in his music are so very needed in this world. I think i can speak for a lot of people when I say I'm beyond blessed to be here for it and I'm honored to be a Renegade.
I'm also so glad you reacted to this and I hope you'll go down the Ren rabbit hole and react to many more of his songs. ❤
Thank you for watching and for your kind words. I don't tend to do first time reactions but it was suggested to me, and I'm so glad I did. He just blew me away, it was so much more than just music.
I will definitely be checking out all of his work over time.
It's changed my thinking.
40 decades..? Are you a vampire 🧛♂️
Only messing, I echo your every sentiment ❤
so happy to be on this Ren journey with you.

Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm only at the start, but wow what an impact he's had on me. An amazing talent
Thankfully, since Hi Ren blowing up and then releasing his Sick Boi album in October 23 and it gaining the number 1 spot, Ren no longer relies on a go fund me for his medical treatment. He and his team of friends who work with him are rightly very proud of that achievement, which is all the more astonishing because he was unable to tour to promote the album.
Yes, Ren speaks Welsh, though he said he's rusty since he's lived in Brighton for a number of years. The first song on the album, Seven Sins, starts in Welsh.
Looking forward to hopefully seeing you explore some more of his music.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. A few people have commented and said how he's now more financially stable. I knew nothing about him before this reaction - it blew me away. I didn't know he spoke Welsh, I only know very little but will definitely be checking out everything he's done.
A generational talent
I hope you'll do more Ren. I'd suggest you go straight into a singing piece and I think you'd love his band The Big Push's cover of Englishman in New York. You really can't go wrong with Ren but many reactors hit a lot of his heavy ones in a row and it can get overwhelming. The Big Push is ALWAYS fun. The only sad one is Dignity and that's only sad because they had to break up due in part to Ren's health and it was a tribute song to all the love they share.
Thank you. I'll definitely be covering more of Ren's work. A lot of people suggested one of his trilogies as well as some of his early busking stuff
@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx the trilogy (aka The tales of Jenny and Screech) is extraordinary - intense, but a work of art.
65 yo....been around for The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Marc Bolan, David Bowie, too many greats to mention, this young man is outstanding
He is. It was a first watch for me and it just blew me away.
Like you I'm of a certain vintage and thls was just next level
Thank you for your reaction. If you choose to listen to more of Ren's music (in your own time or as reactions) you will not be disappointed. This beautiful human being is versatile, deep, raw and he has important messages to share.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I will definitely be checking out all his work, he's just such an amazing talent. He just spoke directly to me with that track
@BritishDadReacts-ui4jx I understand how you feel.
Ren has over the last 2 years become the artist of my life time. Im 62 and had a career in music. Ive got my favorite bands but this guy is just too talented
Thank you for watching. I'm of a later vintage and this has also blown me away
you are so right --- the discordant guitar and vocals are intentional representations of Ren's internal chaos.
Thank you. It was a first reaction and it was a visceral reaction. He's such a talent
It's always nice to see a new face enjoying this music. sir.
Thank you, enjoying it is an understatement, blew me away
Excellent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Please check out more Ren💙
Thank you. I will definitely be checking out all his work. It just blew me away
Great reaction to a genius' masterpiece...!
Thank you. It's certainly changed me, such a talent it's hard to describe
What a lovely reaction. I hope you’ll be reacting to more of what Ren has to offer.
Thank you, much appreciated. I will definitely be doing more
Ren is a Gift to Humanity from The Universe.....subbed for your Ren journey
Thank you. I'll definitely be checking out all his work 👍
Welcome to the Renegades... you've got a hell of a ride ahead of you if you go down the rabbit hole...
I'm a 43 year old Welsh Hippy... Rap was never my thing, But Ren has left me appreciating all his work; musically, conceptually or any other way you choose to look at it.
Thank you, it's been a journey already. I knew nothing before this reaction and now I'm primed to check out all his stuff, he's incredible
Ren is the most important artist in my life time and I was a teenager in the 60s so I grew up with The Beatles and all that great music. Ren is a brilliant musician who exudes music in many styles. He has a huge following among old geezers because we recognise "real" music when we hear it.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
It was a first for me after someone suggested that I react to it, normally I tend to review tracks and give some history and context.
I have to say that Ren certainly blew me away. I have been recommended to check out his other work, which I will be doing in the future
I would recommend the Tale of Jenny and Screech to be your next selection, the full version (three songs) to be listened to in one sitting. After that anything by Ren will be great. You should also check out the Band Ren busker with, The Big Push they do wonderful live mash ups and originals, to huge audiences in the streets of Brighton. Enjoy mate I'm sure you will!
@ thank you. I'm looking forward to it all
Even if he doesn't know it yet, I am convinced that Ren actually is an angelic being.
You might be right, an incredible talent
Hi. Welcome to the wonderful world of Ren. Multi talented. Great reaction from your good self too.
If you fancy checking out more The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full version) is where most reactors go from Hi Ren. But just dip your toe in anywhere and you’ll find gold.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I will definitely be checking out all his work and a number of his fans have suggested the trilogy you mention. He's such an incredible talent, blew me away
I think this is my favorite! I've seen at least what 20 or more of these reactor commentaries or reviews what have you and this man's face as you watch him experience each run of Rens incredibly provocative dialogue and proliferate display of musical prowess you can sense it has hit him where it has hit so many of is and we can at the same time remember what we felt too when we first heard what he correctly establishes as GROUNDBREAKING. the perfect word for such an iconic piece of art. Congratulations Ren you went all the way down and you grapped yourself up and this is the journey to the rise all in our own triumph and I for one feel blessed to experience the sounds or wrath and rejoicing that emerge in the bounty of perseverance and victory over the dark forces. The light that enables with that darkness must be incredibly bright and powerful to overcome it for darkness absorbs light and has consumed others. Shine on Ren you are a force to be reckoned with and your art defies all musical genres and ascends to a new gateway especially for independant artists.
Thank you. It was a first for me after someone suggested that I react to him, and I'm so glad I did. It just blew me away and spoke to me in a way that is very rare.
He's an incredible talent and deserves everything he is now achieving.
I will be covering more of his work as he is such an artist
RENegade here. I have heard hundreds of reactions to this song. Yours, by far, is my favorite. As you get to know his story, you will understand more. He is a once in a generation artist. ❤
Thank you for such kind words. I tend to review tracks, so reacting is new to me. It was recommended and I'm so glad I did. He is definitely once in a generation. I have so much more of his work to check out 👍
Great reaction! Subscribed for more Ren.
Thank you. I'll definitely be covering more of his work going forward. He's just such an amazing talent
Hi I came for ren but very much enjoyed your views and articulation of bits you liked so I have subscribed , great channel I look forward to more reactions to ren ❤
Thank you for such kind words. I normally review rather than react so this was new for me, and I knew nothing of his work. But that's changed and I will definitely cover more
Great reaction. Thanks for checking Ren out. Over two years and still love finding peoples first reactions. Ren is a special artist, please check out his catalogue, with an open mind as he doesn’t sit in one genre. Storytelling (Bardcore as some call it), Rap, Dance, Ska/Reggae. He tends to float over the musical flowers like a Bee looking for pollen. He also was in a band called The Big Push and has some brilliant songs with them as well as some amazing Busking videos.
Thank you for watching. I only know the video that I reacted to but he blew me away.
I will definitely be checking out all his work. He's an amazing talent
He really is a genius. You need to go down that rabbit hole. There's so many sides to Ren, it will blow your mind.
It already has, and I will definitely be checking out more of his work
As you listen more, you'll realize that, not only is he amazingly talented, he is extremely well-read & is a student of music history. But do be ready because he also has a great sense of humor & can be very, very cheeky.
Thank you. After I did my reaction there were things from that song that came back to me that definitely show that is as smart as he is talented.
I'm looking forward to checking out more of his work
You definitely need to react to more Ren, you touched on a few points that are very valid and new. He's a great story teller. I'm 46, never been a 'fan boy' of any artist, and thats exactly what Ren is, an artist! And i've deffo became a fan of his, I can only liken him to Andrew Lloyd Webber in terms of his talent. He's definitely a once in a lifetime Artist. No song is the same. His reggae voice is amazing (Back On 74/Message In A Bottle). Plenty of Songs to choose from both covers and his own like this. Pure Talent! Sony did a doozee with this one
Thank you for your kind words. He is an amazing artist. I'm only 1 video into the journey and he blew me away. I'm looking forward to going down the Ren rabbit hole. I've lots of suggestions on what to watch next so will be starting them soon.
Welcome to the World of Ren. He opens the song Seven Sins singing in Welsh. I look forward to your exploration, Ren elevates lives
Thank you. My Welsh is very limited but I am blown away and will be checking out all his work
