    This has to be one of my favourite things I've done in the world climbing up there. The view was absolutely breathtaking.

    How did you find your way back down in the dark? And you have your nice camera with you... back into the favela to get a motorbike taxi? You must of had a local favela guide with you right?

      Nah dude, no guide. We just walked down thru the favela to the beach. It’s a nice walk.

    Were you concerned about crime or accidents? I imagine police and medical people are sometimes afraid the to enter large areas of irregular housing. I imagine the hills overlooking the favela are even more inaccessible.

      Not at all Charles. Its an easy hike and the favelas near the coast like this one and Rocina are safe. Over the last 10 years or so they have grown into legitimate neighborhoods. It is a different story in the favelas in the North zone of the city.
