I picked up the $19 dollar mini-version of this at Target the other day. _What a hoot of a toy is to play with! _*_Drives my Cavalier King Charles crazy trying to catch it!_* LOLS
UPDATE: after my comment about the sensors been angled slightly downwards, I looked at my device again and realized one sensor had gotten pushed back into the frame slightly, probably from a collision with something. It had only been pushed in maybe 1/16 of an inch or less. Anyway using a dental pick I pushed it back outward fully seated in the rim again, and immediately have better control of side to side motion. Hope this helps somebody else find their problem. Side to side control is via the two optical sensors mounted 180° across from each other on the rim. That is why they had to design it to rotate in flight, so that the two sensors cover 360° each turn. It would probably be a little better to add the other two sensors on the other two axes and charge a couple bucks more for it. But it's a lot of fun just the way it is once you figure out how the thing is working. Once I realized that the two sensors on mine are mounted with a slight down tilt, not fully perpendicular to the ground, I realized it controls better when I hold my hands a little lower for side to side control.
Noisy ! I can find where to charge it ! I don’t have an on off button ! I hope mine is not so noisy ! It looks like I wasted my money . I spent more Thani should on this but seem to have received the cheap Chinese version ...
I picked up one of these yesterday at a Flea Market for $10. After reading the instructions I turned it on, held it on my hand and waited for the props to start. When they didnt I figured it was broken. It was only after watching your video did I understand that it only starts working AFTER you toss it away. Ya, its a fun little toy. I wonder how far it would travel it launched outdoors. How high and how far away with no obstacles. I might find that out tomorrow.
I actually prefer this to the helifar. Especially it you have a room full of friends/family. The slight hesitation in direction change could make for good and inventive contests and a heck of a lot of hilarity
It looks like a new category is emerging for these self-hovering, hand-controlled/obstacle avoiding drones. I liked the spinning and cage of this one. If it could be as responsive as the Helifar, it would be my favorite. But the Helifar is the winner because it works better. I noticed a few times Popeye made the drone go up. I think it's only a matter of time before dogs start training with this type of drone.
Very informative. I'm going to watch the Helifar viideo now. One criticism - camera. Maybe zoom out out so the drone stays in view, or just delete that part. Very frustrating to see it heading for something and then, and then.... nothing.
I got one like that named "CUKU S20" in the mail from Amazon with no seller name or return address (it had an Amazon tracking number). I did not order it. Must be one of those sellers trying to increase sales numbers. Fascinating little machine. Mine is chrome-plated, which looks extra cool reflecting the LED. I don't even bother with hand controls. It just flies around the room by itself. Pretty clever. Happy flying!
@ 8:30 your dog interacted with the drone to make it move significantly. I can say that I have NEVER seen anything like that in my life. That was authentically amazing.
I bought one of these for $0.99 today on AliExpress, came by to see what I can expect and I'm pretty hyped on how much I spent on this cool little gadget
Rc Gang, mine arrived 2 weeks ago and I have been flying it ( well turning it lose ) almost every night. What a blast and pretty unbelievable, Charges in 5-10 min and fly's for 5 min. Came back to your channel to find the link to buy another. This would be a GREAT Gift or in my case I think I will use my 2nd one as a prize at work. U cant go wrong with this one!
Just bought one for my son and I think k the technology has advanced. I can literally "pull" it behind be I think the name "force" is fitting. Kind of mind blowing
Not sure I understand, you say it's 30 to 50 dollars but the r title says $15. Also, it seemed when you moved your at the side of it, it did not respond, but when your hand was slightly below it, coming in from a side, it responded. This seemed pretty clear in the video. This makes sense if it has a single sensor on the bottom aimed at a slight angle. If it seems something for one rev it moves up, only part of as rev it moves away from it. Just a thought.
My friend you can control the direction not by merely holding your hand in front of it behind it or around it but actually making like a pushing motion if not actually touching the Drone softly in the direction you wanted to go try it! Eric
Great drone, great review. When I started this video I was like "Heck Yea, I want it", so just a couple of minutes into the video I hit the link to order it. But on the page was red words that said this "This item requires special handling and cannot be shipped to your selected location". I live in Alaska and I run into this all the time with Amazon and Tomtop. Now Gearbest, Banggood, Tmart, and even Wish don't have a problem sending things to Alaska. I did order the Helifar and should be here in a couple of days. Can't wait. Give Popeye an extra scratch for me. Bye
Finally, something I can get the 15 year old to slowly get him involved in flying things. People just do not realize how boring it is flying by yourself all of the time.
After watching your video I decided to try for my 5 year old grandson.. I do not know if you got a "lemon" or if I got an "exceptionally" great model! It never hit anything. Even my three year old grandson was able to control it as well as Popeye. I watched it bounce back and forth down the short hallway missing the walls by six inches or so not hitting anything. I am a wanna be rc'er without the agility or ambition and have found your videos to be an HONEST REVIEW (non subscriber) but thank you for your honesty
I bought it for my nephew for Christmas and the on/off button doesn’t work. It’s solid. I was hoping to actually see it up close just in case we’re doing something wrong, but it think it’s a dud.
I ordered three of these online and each of them came with two extra propellers which after 10 minutes I need to change one of them. Because when it crashed one of them flew off and when my granddaughter picked it up she decided to bend it so I went to put one of the new ones on it with a screwdriver that it came with the directions don’t tell me how to open the thing up. Do you know how to open it up with the screwdriver?
I bought one a year or two ago from Costco ($20) and opened it the other day but threw the directions away. Never thought to throw it into the air. Got a little exercise chasing it around, I used a ruler to give me a little more distance control. What would it do outside, fly away?
My AMZN order says GALOPAR UFO Drone. $22. The box just says UFO Interactive Air Craft. Ah! There’s a sticker that says GALOPAR. It came with a little remote that, so far, won’t turn it on but it will make it start flying, change speeds, and turn off in the air !? The remote is never mentioned in the instructions. Mine is very sensitive to objects to its side. I did something - The Rolling Function? Where it flipped over in the air and kept flying. My main problem is that the power plug is VERY hard to insert because it’s tight fitting and right against the cage and it’s tempting to grab and break something while trying to insert the plug.
I'm trying to work with one of these and one of the "flying disco balls" to see if I can control either of them better, or better yet, make them quieter! Any tips?
Respectfully this mini drone that you're trying out is not designed to be controlled otherwise it would have came with a controller what it is 4 and I thoroughly enjoy it is letting it do its thing!

She never had used a drone before but 5 min in she was like a Pro. I showed her how to use with and without the controller, both worked very well, the only difference I will say it the helifar seemed to have faster responding sensors, yet the Tai Chi drone was still very much flyable I just think the helifar would be much better at obstacle avoidance as the Tai chi would sometime avoid hitting walls but other time it might kinda bouce off them like it would sense the wall and move away but because its a tad lagging it would tap the wall first. Anyways thought I'd give the JJRC H56 Tai Chi a go since it was about $10 AU cheaper $15 Vs $24US is the difference. So my conclusion is not as good as the helifar but still a home run, especially for the price also that it also works perfectly as an altitude hold micro that's extremely biginer friendly. I do recommend that one.
Can you do a review of the Air Hogs Supernova? It is another "hand controlled" caged-rotor quad. My sister got me one as a Christmas present, and I'd like to know your feelings about it. :-)
Popeye got his first drone of his own!! If it were $20 I'd get one for my cat. She's easily entertained with free stuff though. Like a leaf on the floor that got tracked in on my boot she'll play with for hours, then take it into her cardboard box for a nap :>
I dont believe this would do well outdoors. Maybe on a no win evening or something. It's not unbearably loud, but definitely not the most quiet drone ever.

How to charge?
When I plug into the drone alone the USB turns red and then when I plug into wall to charge the darn light turns off.

Just bought one for my son and I think k the technology has advanced. I can literally "pull" it behind be I think the name "force" is fitting. Kind of mind blowing
5 years late, I purchased this for my cats, and for an autonomous “UFO” it works good enough for it’s intended purpose for 20 bucks.
Not sure I understand, you say it's 30 to 50 dollars but the r title says $15. Because of the spinning, be kinda neat to add foil with different sharpie colors for a UFO look! Although foil will probably mess with everything.
