One of the things I had to learn is that my team is doing this shit even in plat, not just bronze and silver. As a support, when you know your team is going to int and take 2v3s for an unwinnable grub fight you pretty much have to roam even if it's a better play to give up the objective and play around bot.
I've also learned that I need to try as early as possible to figure out who can carry and make plays for them rather than focusing on supporting an unstoppably lost bot lane.
Switching from a "best move" mentality to a "best play given my team" mentality has also helped my mental a ton. Big shout out to Coach Cupcake as well for similar teaching in his mentality series

I disagree. Your team mates do dumb shit, dosn't mean you have to join the dumb party to try to fix it.
If you play in Iron and you yourself follow the iron plays to "fix" them, you are another iron more doing iron shit with better micro. But the plays are still iron.
For my experience, you have to do the right plays no matter what, dosn't matter no one follows, or your team is running it down. If you play like them because they are bad, you become as bad as them.
About roamming, you are right. I have leaved botlane even at level1 multiple times after seeing my adc tanking all the incoming second wave and all-in. I just leave him to die not even wasting heal even if i can 100% save him, mute him and leash the jungler all game long doing double ganks without taking any of his xp. And all xp i get is from fixing lanes after ganks, cover dives, etc. Works pretty well in most cases.
To me support is all about fight for vision. You always make picks in soloQ because people don't group for fight for vision. Do it in the right time and the right place, ping a lot, and you win even the most unwinnable games.

The only thing that I would disagree with is that the bad teammates in iron actually hold people back that much. I recently climbed two of my old alt accounts out of iron and silver to learn mid and top lane, and I won nearly every single game with ease even on champs I'm not good with because I could just solo kill my opponents for free every game. It didn't matter how bad my team was when I was turbo fed every game.
People stuck in those ranks lack some core game knowledge or mechanics that are holding them back.

    • @crispyquesadilla
      @crispyquesadilla 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +18

Maybe in Iron, but there are too many good players in Bronze and Silver and many champs can't just roam around and solo kill like this Renekton can. When I see accounts that climbed quickly out of Bronze they typically did it on a win streak which led to rapid LP gains. If you are "only" winning 2 out of 3 games it takes much longer. Assassins like Nocturne and Evelynn can rack up 15+ kills but still can't force a win because they need to be the one ambushing, they can't solo push because if they get ambushed they die, they need a halfway functional team.

no it doesnt, higher elo ashe want to take hail of blades as thats the lane dominant rune, you poke and reset then continue. if you run lethal tempo in lane against higher elo enemy bot lane especially ones that can engage on you then disengage, you're not gonna be able to use lethal tempo effectively. Also lethal tempo on late game ashe is also not that great consider ashe is super immobile so if if she doesnt have the gold income as she would queued up as an adc then shes not gonna be doing much damage even with lethal.

If you try to fight bottom level players the same way you do mid or high level ones, you'll end up taking a lot of damage or even losing because you're trying to do the "right" thing when your opponent is making decisions with no real rhyme or reason. Also btw taking strong early game champs in low elo is definitely not a good choice when you are not a smurf or have a challenger coach in your discord call. The average bronze player is simply not good enough to convert this early game advantage even when you get fed and your team is most of the time to dumb to finish the game quick. I would even say late game champs are much better in low elo, because the games tend to go much longer and you can also see this at the winrates in low elo, that late game champs are the better choice.

Man, ELO hell exists...IF you get almost no points when you win and loose a lot when you get defeated and you constantly have teams that feed hyper carrys on the other side, try to explain logically how should one climb. I have seen a lot of player do that fresh acc thing and get do diamond+ with ease. It is just not the same game, as you can all see in the video. Why are people crying so much about it on this comment section? BTW high value video with a different approach here, nicely done Rogue.

    • @adamdecoder1
      @adamdecoder1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

Yep, this. ELO hell is completely fake, UNLESS your gains and losses force an absurd winrate in order for you to climb. It happened to me last season where I promoted to emerald and instantly went on a pretty big loss streak, but was prevented from demotion. After the loss streak I was getting +17, -27 or something absurd like that. I had to then go on an 80% wr streak over 40+ games to Emerald 2, AND THEN demote all the way back to emerald 4 with a 50% wr before my mmr finally corrected itself - all due to one loss streak at Emerald 4 0lp. This has been an issue for a long time, but it seems riot is finally taking steps to address it by decreasing demotion protection and lowering your lp by a further 25 when you get demoted.
My problem with the video intro is that he doesn't qualify his statement at all. He just says "your teammates are holding you back", which is not only completely wrong, but also MEGA toxic to the community, AND has almost nothing to do with the rest of the video which is only about low-elo habits. Yes, under the old ranked systems, if your mmr is fucked but you're significantly improving as a player, you will do much better starting on a fresh account. But he needs to explain that, rather than enforcing the delusions of low-elo players that they're better than they really are.

The video is interesting, but I disagree when you say that you don't play the same at your elo and when you play at low elo (ie smurf). Your fundamentals DO NOT CHANGE. Its only that you can punish more mistakes, and snowball earlier. So indeed you play the same ; only the context is different.
Also a player stuck in Iron / Bronze that climbs to Diamond IS NOT a diamond player stuck in Iron / Bronze. It's a Iron / Bronze player that had a declic and learned and hone his fundamentals, rank after rank, that finally achieve Diamond.
    (Small rant 0:11:
The iron player that created a new account and started in gold ; its actually difficult to derank to Iron, so its not suprising he starts above. Moreover, if you coached him, (ie he/she progresses, hones his fundamentals, etc, its only natural that the student climbs. Moreover, on the graph at 0:14, we can clearly see that the student was barely playing before June 2023. Once the student started really playing regularly, he / she started climbing. While he / she might have been under coaching, you people need to remember that with a 51%, you'll climb out of every elo, eventually.
So play better and play more. Stop looking for external excuses and poor everything towards improving yourself. The best way to climb is to improve. Or buy a challenger account kappa)
Remember players you DON'T NEED coaching to improve. There's everything on the internet. What coaching offers is faster results, the feeling of being monitored and carefully advised.
TLDR : elo hell doesn't exist. Players are just bad and don't play enough to climb

when I play in low elo I sometimes know that I should fix a side wave and that I would bleed if I don't but I see my teammates posturing in mid and I know they'll int engage even if I tell them not to so I can't fix it and pressure the side, at least without tp, so I think this is an example of how it might be better to change fundamentals, with that being said if you play a lot of games and fix those waves it might workout well more often than not so it might be more of a short term solution or a way of adapting even when you know it's something you shouldn't do.

I was a Gold player a few seasons ago.
Now I intentionally got placed in Iron 4, to see if the "elo hell" really exists, or not.
Guess what, it EXISTS. I can play flawlessly, but every single game is a coin flip. I can make perfect ganks, but Iron players are the ones that manage to die even in a 3vs2. I don't play 50 games per week, so I can guarantee you that if you end up in Iron, you have 2 options: play more (and I mean, A LOT MORE) and hope to get decent team mates, or make another account and do a better placement. Iron is HELL. Saying elo hell does not exist is bullshit, we don't have 4 hours a day to climb in a useless videogame like all the "pros".

Something else to compare is vs AI in similar games. I cannot win in the training bot games for HotS. I will carry like mad, get tons of xp, and still lose. But I can also get MvP in some normals. When I asked a friend about why this was, he informed me that the AI just doesn't understand what I'm doing if I am outperforming their programming. Not to compare noobs to bots, but I think way too many low level players think the game is played in a manner that just isn't the reality of the game. They don't understand backdooring, resource management macro. and many other concepts that their friends don't teach them, and streamers don't really talk about. Double jungle, lane swapping, these concepts confuse many players that have just been playing "their version" of LoL for way too long, or are brand new, and they just ping spam, and flame in all chat instead of adjusting their strategy.

You should also remember that a lot of people don't deserve to be in lower ranks and they are extremely competitive people, who would like to climb up but SoloQ is not as serious as it was before, and the overall game knowledge of the playerbase is crawling on the floor.
Everyone knows how everything works, supposedly, but they all see their own version of the game.
Junglers get angry at bot lane because they didn't contest, bot lane gets angry at jungler because there is a huge wave they need to catch and they are expected to contest.
Jungler gets angry at top lane because they didn't show up for grubs, top lane gets angry at jungler because they don't have priority, they pinged the jungler to go back but jungler didn't listen.
Mid lane gets angry at jungler for not ganking / not counter ganking, jungler gets angry at mid laner because the enemy jungler got cs lead thanks to a mistake of top lane and they are expected to gank.
It all goes on and on like this. What they don't know is that they are trying to micro manage their own gameplay without thinking what's going on around them. They all think they are the main characters and they should get the kills and the farms and the pushes and everything.
They don't realize they are not playing against a Korean pro team. With all these individiual selfish mistakes, they are letting the enemy team build up tempo. The top laner who is obsessed with farm, loses 2 towers in 10 seconds. Mid laner gets dived by enemy support and loses tower, jungler doesn't know where to help and gets invaded when trying to rotate bot lane and bot tower is gone too, as well as drake etc. and suddenly the game is over.
What players don't realize is that meanwhile they are trying to play like pros, the enemy doesn't. What that means is, if the enemy team is playing really aggressive, you should answer. In SoloQ there are a lot of early kills especially in low elo. Pro players sit still and farm most of the time, because they know their opponent is tough and risky moves are actually risky so it's better to try to get lead by farms and decide the game on team fights and around objectives. Any kill, is a massive lead on pro scene.
Now, in SoloQ where there is a lot of mindless chaotic play, you should go look for kills even if your team is crying for 15 ff. The game doesn't end until Nexus is gone and during a siege, is when things actually start to shape for the losing team.
If their attempts at breaching the base is not successful, that means there is a good chance to win the game unless the enemy team re-organizes and switches to try hard mode.
During siege, every kill your team can get allows to close the gap. You might have to give baron and a couple drakes. But as long as Nexus holds, you have a chance.
Though sometimes, you will just lose maybe due to your team comp, or your team literally being stupid. But in SoloQ, even losing an inhibitor before 15, is an advantage to you because you can just sit there and farm, and if the enemy team doesn't know how to actually finish the game, that is going to be a huge mistake for them.

    • @fortnight5677
      @fortnight5677 หลายเดือนก่อน

      TLDR;
In lower elos you should evaluate the game and the tempo and start looking for aggressive plays and kills. You should stop doing what you are doing even if it means your opponent is taking plates or crashing waves on your tower.
Your jungler not going mental, your mid laner feeling important when your support ganks, your top laner feeling they have a team they can rely on when you show up to defend their tower or help them push... These are more important than getting some minion waves.
Sometimes you need to steal the kills and bait your teammates, if they don't know how to protect you or how to take position. Sometimes you need to ping and type stuff in chat. Sometimes you need to apologize, even if it wasn't your fault.
Sometimes you need to change your build to snowball, sometimes you need to leave the lane because your support is an absolute bot. Sometimes you need to remember that no matter how good the enemy team plays in early game, maybe they just don't know what to do when they are presented with a push back.
Imagine all the games you have lost incredibly stupidly, even though your team had a huge lead. We ofthen forgot about those games because we essentially put ourselves back together and won as a team. But we remember all the loses and the stupid teammates... Most of them being early game.

I don't agree with the early champs and early runnes approach. You can perfectly play Kassadin with fleet and 1vs9 all low elo games without losing a single one until diamond+. I have tryied both approachs in smurfs and late game champions that can 1vs9 in teamfights are the best approach. That dosn't mean that you can't pick Riven and drop 50 kills in silver and destroy the game. But there will be some games that you are 20/0 and you lose with those early game champs just for comps. For example Riven against Nautilus, Ammumu, Jinx, Katarina, Seraphine. You can perfectly lose the game in a fight because your team mates int with 0 vision, give Katarina and Jinx free reset before even the fight start and all your team get cleaned in 2 seconds and you are legit 1vs5 againstva Jinx with lethal thempo and pasive full stacked a Nautilus with all cds, Ammumu with Q, Seraphine with ulti... To me, i get better results with hyperlate game champions like Kassadin, because you can still stomp early game with them because people dosn't know how to manage waves, trade, punish you, etc.
Also there are examples of people climbing with Kassadin to Master with almost 100% winrate.
I also don't agree that you have to "adapt" to play in low elo. Ofc there are low elo cheese strats to destroy the games that are more efficient to climb than a regular playstyle. But those strats stop working after a while. For example, you can play Morgana mid with barrier and rushing Stopwatch to get from iron4 to gold very fast losing trades and playing like shit on purpouse to fake you are bad and make enemies dive you and you use barrier Q under tower and you get a kill. And same in midgame when low elos are playing Aram and dive you with Stopwatch. But that works only because players in those elos don't track summoners, press tab to check for Stopwatch on Morgana, etc. Or Play Lee Top with Electrocute and get first blood 90% of games at level 1 with flash Q after a long trade. But doing those strats you don't learn the game, you just climb. And when you reach diamond+ you have no idea how to play the game.
I think is way better to learn the game properly, with the right build, learn the combos, learn spacing, learn cooldowns, learn matchups, learn how to flank, how to manage waves, how to possition properly, tracking skills in fights, learn to cross map and play ahead, learn tempo, play for vision, adapt builds, learn how to get carried, build spikes, lvl spikes, matchup spikes, indetify win conditions and adapt your playstyle to them, identify lose conditions, how to draft, good blind picks, counters, etc. There are hundreds of things that you don't learn as a low elo player adapting your gameplay to the elo you are at. That dosn't work in the long run unless you already know how to play properly, or you are an elo booster that you only care about getting accounts to master.

I know what you mean about keystones like in low elo i take pta on aphelios whenever I can and in diamond (top of low elo xD) I take more nuanced runes to eek out small advantages. I loved your tempo lines video from earlier but maybe this video should have a disclaimer saying don't do this if your adc, the role is too gold reliant to drop free sidewaves and when you move to the fights that you forsee coming, your low elo team isn't going to peel for you anyway. I understand that sometimes your team flips a fight and you have no choice but to participate but you should hold off on that fight unless you believe it to be game defining or ending, where in low elo i find you can just carry teamfights later because your better with 4 items then the enemy team is with 5. At least that's how I view this tactic as an adc player.

Its so easy to win games in bronze if you are good, A true diamond player on a bronze account could easily have a 60%+ winrate. And you only have to climb out of bronze once, your elo doesn't really reset between seasons.

    My playstyle
Low elo - Garen or a splitpusher so I can play extremely selfishly and take down the enemy base even if my teammates die.
High elo - Galio or teamfight heavy champions because people are worth trying to play with here
Going support or a champ like Galio mid is not as good in low elo, and splitpushers aren't as good in high where people actually defend their base

I don’t understand how to climb I’ve been playing for a year now and I am going no where
My friends just tell me to farm and which is important but will not help me get out of a lower elo

I don’t know if I’m in the best role I’ve tried them all and now I’m at a point to where I’m stuck and am ready to rip my hair out lol
League can be toxic as hell
And a lot of people get tilted real fast
    My self included at times
I mainly play mid as assassins
My first ever champ I played was Akali who is a hard difficulty champ
But I wanted that because she was the first I fell in love with playing now it’s Qyiana
I got Akalis mechanics down and now I dabbled with other assassins
    I’ve tried adc top support
And jungle and I do okay but I still get stuck at the same spot and I’m not kidding when I say I’m a 0lp in iron 4 my Mmr is probably trash when I get a chance to move up a tier I get someone who leaves after remake is available or the other team is winning 12 -2 in kills
I need help I want to climb I love this game because this is the hardest game I’ve ever played and want the chance to play with a team who actually plays how it’s supposed to be played

by the way guys, your shitty mmr is not proof that ELO hell exists. That is what is supposed to happen, if youre getting double lp a loss than a win the system has literally decided you are a lower tier player, and is trying to place you there. The opposite, on a high wr, is getting placed with weaker teammates as your MMR is higher than the average for your rank and all MMR has to be somewhat equal for between both teams. if you're on lower than average mmr (high lp loss, low lp gain) and still losing, you are legit losing with a handicap. the system is treating you like you are a division or two below your rank (because of your mmr) and you still lose. yes, you should rank down, your MMR is your skill rating, and it is far below your rank if this is the case you are seeing. Sometimes a new account can help man, but it sounds like yall are just inflated. Coach rogue has some decent advice here for yall to rank up, and un-inflate your rank

Yeah. well there are some people who consume a lot of VOD review content and professional tournament analysis even. So to these people, decent macro after baron spawns, comes sort of naturally. Or you know, at least they instinctively feel that ARAMing down mid is an awful idea. Which is it almost always is.
But if you are incredibly fed, and your team is already maybe 2-3 man pushing mid and dancing with a couple enemies there? Definitely join them in very low elo, as the enemies likely will all in them with all their abilities, allowing you to kill them all somewhat easily.

The opening of this video is pretty bizarre and disingenuous... It's implying that the iron student was actually playing at a diamond level the entire time, but was trapped by teammates in the lowest elo bracket that exists, and yet somehow evaded this completely on a fresh account and soared to borderline high-elo by applying a couple tricks to exploit low elo habits? I'm sorry but that's just complete bogus, and it's destructive to the community to feed into their delusions that their team is holding them hostage. Shame on you Rogue. You make great content usually, but this is just irresponsible.
While that player who made an insane climb to Diamond from Iron is no-doubt an amazing case study I would love to see an analysis of, and a testament to the benefits of your coaching, let's be real. That is a pretty damn rare case, and the takeaway from it should never be that "elo hell is real, and you're actually way better than your visible rank"
    - Identifying things you can do to exploit low-elo habits: GREAT! No issue with that.
    - Condoning the toxic tendency players to deflect their own gameplay issues, reinforcing the disgusting ff@15 culture that's already rampant in the game: fucking terrible and you should probably think a little harder about the impact of such a message on impressionable players.
