Out of the whole patriot series, this has to be the best episode every, i was laughing and cheering for Ashton and the 45 all the way..

I knew the stock 45 would be surprisingly capable. I put one through its paces all over BC and Yukon on stock tires. Blows minds.

some of life's "Out Bush" experiences first hand. That little 45 shocked me as much as it
did you in its stock condition with only a Two way added after purchase. Glad to see the
apple hadn't fallen far from the tree and I see great things in the future for both the boys
and Mia too. And can't wait to see what vehicles the others select for a first machine.

The 45 needs power steering and lockers. That's it. Keep the tall skinnys. They're half the reason it goes so good.

@@IndyHepburn It has to do with something called frontal resistance. When driving through mud, snow and sand a narrow tire presents less surface area to the medium. A narrow tire will cut easier through mud, snow and sand than a wide one (due to resistance). The best example of this is when turning trying to turn in sand. When the front tires turn, they present a wider surface to the sand. As an example you can feel speed reduce immediately when a turn is initiated because of the resistance.
There is so much more to tyres than just bigger is better which is most certainly not always the case for touring or every situation for that matter..
The idea that because a bigger tyre simply results in more contact on the surface which it contacts therefore equates to a better tyre is misguided.
When choosing a tyre, if you want to be serious about it and get the most out of your 4wd, you need to think about what you're going to be doing instead of what other people might think..
That 45 is going to be a weapon. Cant wait to see what Patriot does to it.
17;25 .The kids are doing an excellent job but they may benefit from a teacher who doesn't get so excited and knows what way to turn the wheels when up against a tree . Kids are pretty good at working things out and these young blokes have done a super job considering the tracks they've just mastered

As an owner and daily driver of a bj70 with no power steering, I truly hope someone tells the kids to not leave your thumbs in the steering wheel while doing offroad. I know Australia has great health care, but broken or dislocated thumbs are no fun.
Trust me, been there and had to drive back with the dam thumb the size of an apple.

U guys give Christian a bit of a tough time. I am on my L s and my first time off-roading and I almost rolled I reckon gently leaning on a tree not too bad good on ya mate. And um Boys good on ya that was lit I only wish I was capable of doing what you do be proud of yourselves

I don't know what it is but i have the same problem with my millennial's (daughters) when off rd, i say stop and they take a day then react! maybe us older folks are more stressed and they are so chilled. Great vid good to see you with the family.
Looks like an awesome weekend. Nothing beats family....
I would get
1. Tires (not to big so no body mods)
2. Recovery points front and back
3. Snorkel
4. Little mods to get more things water tight and hoses on diff breathers
5. (Optional but awesome) Lockers
6. Get some cool accessories on tge used market. Spotlights things like that.
The rest I would keep stock not even a lift. For now no winch. But a 1.6T Tirfor in the tray would be awesome
If this doesn't motivate me to get my new engine into my 71 fj 40, nothing will! Great video that has me excited to get out wheeling again!
