Michael Hutchence was a great lead man, for sure! I saw them in concert in Portland, Maine in 1986. Broke a couple ribs (I was a peanut at 98 lbs.) getting pushed against the barricade in the front row so hard from the crowd! Loved every minute of it though!!
This song is pure lust. The lyrics of "Here come the woman With the look in her eye Raised on leather With flesh on her mind" explains it right there. Such a great band!
What I still trying to wrap my head around is how far they came from awesome don’t change to devil inside! The whole world misses Michael and his words and how mature the band became in such short time because of your love.
INXS is definitely special. Kick is an incredible album. But one thing that struck me just now, this was a chart topper. Huge success. And it has awesome REAL instruments and a kickass guitar solo. What the hell happened?
INXS is known for their live performances. Michael was an exceptional singer, songwriter and frontman. You have to understand that there were the biggest band at that time. They were voted as the best live band, best male vocalist, best international band and of course Michael was the sexist frontman. They blew past U2 and blew Michael Jackson off the charts! Three members of INXS are brothers. In order, Tim (the riff master), Andrew (keyboard, backing vocals, guitar, songwriter) and Jon (the drummer). The others were friends that all were at school together and playing together before the age of 15. They had to wait to go on the road because they had to graduate from school and Jon was too young, but “the best white drummer” according to Nile Rodgers. Michael can sing anything and some day you will have to check out his MAX Q project and his solo album “Loved One”, I think MAX Q is my favorite but there is so much to pick from. There is also soundtracks, live performances and INXS did duets with Jimmy Barnes, Ray Charles and Chrissy Hind of the Pretender’s. INXS did the hard work, the early stuff has influences from Asia and Aboriginal music, hence the are Ozzies. The were banned from radio for a while after there song “Original Sin” from the early ’80’s, the record companies passed on the album KICK, and one company offered them a million dollars to re-record it they passed and it ended up defining a new genre of music. They were also banned from MTV not because of the suggestive sexual content but because of vouyresim in the video “Taste It”. INXS preform on the tube in the UK and the station was flooded with angry calls that the station played a prerecorded track, but it was live and no one believed it because they are that good! That being said you can pick anything to review and pick anything from the 1991 Wembley live concert, it is flawless. I have picked a couple of live tracts for you. If you want to hear and see the talent here is a softer and deeper register “By My Side” th-cam.com/video/fMXLOZiXGJA/w-d-xo.html and the power and energy “suicide Blonde” th-cam.com/video/zH-_Xttr5rQ/w-d-xo.html watch the audience go nuts! You don’t need to review this but it is fun to see Michael when he was young and very shy, he hid behind his hair in “Simple Simon” th-cam.com/video/m1K_hacj-_A/w-d-xo.html. As you can see, they have so much more to offer and I could tell ya so much more. The only reason I have so much to say, is because in the ’80’s you could do anything and I turned INXS into an independent 3 credit college project! I loved the ’80’s!
I have to comment on my own comments because of serendipity. The show I mention above, "INXS preform on the tube in the UK and the station was flooded with angry calls that the station played a prerecorded track, but it was live and no one believed it because they are that good! " was just posted to the internet from a VSH taped TV copy. th-cam.com/video/y1ebTI4mX4k/w-d-xo.html The visual quality is great, vocal are a little quiet, Michael is young and beautiful and this was all before the explosion of the album KICK. This is something you will have to bookmark for later. You have reacted to one of these songs "What you Need", but the others are "This Time", "Original Sin" & "Listen Like Thieves". Now, if you are ever gonna do a live reaction, I will always recommend you do anything from the 1991 Wembley concert for so many reasons.
Great that you are back with INXS!!! This song was huge, one of their biggest hits and was on the radio forever...and still is. It's not my favourite and hasn't aged as well as their other hits but is still fantastic and goes totally off live...as most INXS songs do...they are a live band and the songs are written for live performances in a big stadium.
This was a killer song in concert saw them three times👍 will never forget it, rest in peace Mr. Michael Hutchence This song was not only great in concert but was awesome on the dance floor at the TEENAGE clubs.
RIP Michael Hutchence. We lost a true talent and I just can’t help but wonder if this incredible band could have been bigger than the Beatles if he hadn’t passed away. In their short time, INXS created so many hits! Don’t Change, Suicidal Blonde, Never Tear Us Apart, Devil Inside, What You Need just to name a few. You could never truly put them in a box. I miss them.
A lot people on TH-cam unfortunately don’t listen to a lot of their earlier stuff which sucks it’s some of their best stuff and some of favourite songs KICK is their best album but it’s not necessarily my favourite album and unfortunately the people suggesting these songs don’t have much exposure to their early stuff
2 songs from each of their 10 albums that I think you should check out (excluding what you’ve already reacted to) 1) INXS - Just Keep Walking - In Vain 2) Underneath the Colours - Stay Young - Underneath the Colours 3) Shabooh Shoobah - The One Thing - Don’t Change 4) The Swing - Original Sin - Burn For You 5) Listen Like Theives - Kiss The Dirt (Falling Down The Mountain) - This Time 6) KICK - Need You Tonight - Mystify 7) X - Disappear - Suicide Blonde 8) Welcome to Wherever You Are - Baby Don’t Cry - Not Enough Time 9) Full Moon, Dirty Hearts - The Gift - Please (You Got That…) [Featuring Ray Charles] 10) Elegantly Wasted - Elegantly Wasted - We Are Thrown Together
Woah! I can't believe y'all finally reviewed this one! It was about a year ago when I suggested it, because it was Halloween time last year. Glad y'all liked it!
Mind if I add: Disappear, Never Tear Us Apart, Elegantly Wasted the list is endless !!!! One of the best bands to come out the late 70's (The Farriss Brothers).
Of course it was fun. It was the 80's. I was working part time as a bartender, late 80's when this broke out, i was also in the Air Force as well. The times were through the roof back then. There was this big video screen, and we had VHS tapes with subscription videos sent to the bar with music vids. When this would come on, the dance floor would be jumping through the rafters. Great song, great times.
This is one of my favourite tracks by INXS. The depth of sleaze and darkness in the lyrics is both haunting but very powerful - sexual appetite, pride, arrogance, and that great line: "here comes the world with that look in its eye; future uncertain, but certainly slight". The lyrics shine a light on the darker sides of humanity, but with an amazing guitar riff and Hutchence's breathy, sexy delivery. A classic! Sadly, in a way Hutchence was overcome by his own 'demons', but that just adds to the power and poignancy of this song to me. We all have that potential "Devil Inside" which we need to recognise and deal with. Some choose to go with it and let it consume them, some try to fight but lose the battle, while others keep fighting and win, or at least keep it in check. "Makes you wonder" indeed!
Possibly Australia's greatest musical gift to the world after Olivia! I absolutely loved this song when it came out, unbelievably fun to cut loose to on the dancefloor!
@@MechaJoezilla Totally agree, I already commented because I saw their movie reaction. Actually added that to that channel too. This is a link to that th-cam.com/video/OqSrEhuWrgY/w-d-xo.html
It's funny that you mentioned The Doors when reacting to INXS. Michael Hutchence was compared to Jim Morrison a lot when the band first became popular - not only for his looks & voice, but his stage presence as well. He could captivate an audience. Some other INXS songs to check out include "I Need You Tonight", "Mystify", "Suicide Blonde", "The One Thing", "Original Sin", & "Elegantly Wasted". RIP Michael Hutchence.

What I still trying to wrap my head around is how far they came from awesome don’t change to devil inside!
The whole world misses Michael and his words and how mature the band became in such short time because of your love.
Omg I remember driving to work listening to this song! Love these guys!
One of my favorite groups! Takes me back to my college days. Agree with others, the whole Kick album is awesome.
INXS, a band that had it all, Good musicians, Good songs , a extraodinary frontman and they where cool. (also they were australian)
I saw them four times in high school. What a GREAT band!
"Words are weapons, sharper than knives..."
Great that you are back with INXS!!! This song was huge, one of their biggest hits and was on the radio forever...and still is. It's not my favourite and hasn't aged as well as their other hits but is still fantastic and goes totally off live...as most INXS songs do...they are a live band and the songs are written for live performances in a big stadium.
man i thank you MTV! they introduced me to so much music!
Anybody remember that they had a whole TV series where they picked a new lead singer for INXS ? ✌️
Yes! I actually watched it.
Y’all both had your eyes closed just grooving to that guitar solo! Love it. They were such a great group!
You have to watch inxs live at Wembley stadium this band is a live band
This was a killer song in concert saw them three times👍 will never forget it, rest in peace Mr. Michael Hutchence
This song was not only great in concert but was awesome on the dance floor at the TEENAGE clubs.
Great song! Love this band. Micheal Hutchence oozed sex appeal!
"Dont Change" is their best jam ✌💖☮

KICK is their best album but it’s not necessarily my favourite album and unfortunately the people suggesting these songs don’t have much exposure to their early stuff

Jay & Amber, you'll love their "The One Thing", "Need You Tonight" and "Suicide Blonde"!!
Yep! Also "Listen Like Thieves" and "Good Times" with Jimmy Barnes
Listen like Thieves?
Mind if I add: Disappear, Never Tear Us Apart, Elegantly Wasted the list is endless !!!! One of the best bands to come out the late 70's (The Farriss Brothers).
And “Don’t Change” -early In-Excess (Jay;) CLASSIC 80s track.
“The one thing“ is my favorite ever!!!
YESSSS!! 🤩 Devil Inside and Need You Tonight are Fire! 🔥🔥🔥

But
SO FLAWED 💔💔💔
#INXS
I'm glad you did this song. I think it's one of their best.
SO MANY Great INXS Songs! Great Guitar wrapped up with all The Music Layers! Love You Guys & The Reaction! :)
Try INXS. Don't Change. It's the first INXS song I heard in the early 80's. Real good!
I love his voice 😊
Possibly Australia's greatest musical gift to the world after Olivia! I absolutely loved this song when it came out, unbelievably fun to cut loose to on the dancefloor!
The entire Kick album is worth a listen 🔥As well, Good Times featuring Jimmy Barnes from The Lost Boys soundtrack
Another vote here for Good Times. th-cam.com/video/YiUX0cKEEXc/w-d-xo.html
Agree!
@@MechaJoezilla Totally agree, I already commented because I saw their movie reaction. Actually added that to that channel too. This is a link to that th-cam.com/video/OqSrEhuWrgY/w-d-xo.html
So many great songs. Try any one of these and you will not be disappointed. Need You Tonight, The One Thing, Good Times, Don't Change.
INXS is awesome and this song is awesome too. Devil inside.👍
