On Shining Force 3, there was a very hard to get shining force premium disc which is basically a combat simulator that let you access all the different characters. Those are definitely my top 2 on the system as well, good times.
sega saturn was not popular in the philippines when it was released, seeing it now it does make me happy, the art style of the era and the 3d graphics, feels me with nostalgia, even though I haven't seen these games before, they really look good!
I wanted to tell you that I had the same experience playing Shining Force III. I couldn't stop playing it until I finished it. It is my favorite Saturn game. Panzer Dragoon Saga, Dragon Force and Magic Knight Rayearth are also some of my all time favorite games and some of my most treasured memories of the Saturn.
Thanks for making this video, I was watching on the off chance you'd mention an old game I used to play as a kid that I couldn't remember the name of and wouldn't you know it, you did! Heir of Zendor! Thanks man.
I was a PS1 player and never owned the Saturn console but always wanted to play games like Legend of Oasis and Nights. Thanks for this awesome list man!
All of these games are really good. Great list. Haven't played Magic Knight Rayearth though, because it doesn't have an entry level price. Shining Force 3 is one of my favourite games of all time.
@@BastichB64K I am glad that I collected most of then earlier. Have a full PAL set and most US exclusives too, except for some of the most expensive ones... But you are right, prices have risen so much, especially US games.
Great video, great channel! Glad you're making content like this - especially for someone just getting into the Sega Saturn. You've got a dedicated new subscriber.
Same here, Shining Force III is that good! People often refer to the SNES and PS1 when RPG is the subject, for good reason, but for my brother and I, the Saturn was the console that got us into it, Mystaria, Dragon Force, Lunar Magic School, Grandia. Story of Thor 2 is so good, great concept and gameplay, I remember in the early 00's, everyone that watched me playing it said how cool the game looked, it was 5+ years old by that point. Also, imagine our surprise when we learned about SFIII follow up scenarios, we were in heaven, the language barrier didn't deter us at all.
The Saturn always gets talked down to in the western media which is annoying, its a brilliant machine with an impressive catalogue especially if you love import games , the RPGs were epic !
Yeah, agreed. At the time, my older brother was a young adult and into video games, so my other brother and I, which were kids, had the chance to experience the Saturn as it was our older brothers choice after the Mega Drive/SNES. No kidding, the console is brilliant, the 3D fighters (we specially loved Dead or Alive for...reasons) and even Toshinden Remix was hilariously fun, but all genres were great, Duke 3D, Hexen, and wow, did our jaws dropped when we fired up KOF 96 and 97, we also had a passion for 95 but we didn`t own that one. Xmen vs SF, SFZ3, the list and the comment would be too long, so I`ll stop here!
Shining force 3 is the best tactical I ever played. I know a lot of games on saturn but I forget the heir of zendor, thanks ! I will try it and maybe make a review on my channel. Great video by the way ;-)

Good list. I find Shining Wisdom flawed but very fun and unique. I really have no love for Albert Odyssey though. I would be a generic RPG with no technical issues, but the loading time between commands kills it for me. I think it is only heralded because it is a rare and expensive Saturn RPG that at least looks pretty. Hoping I can play Panzer Dragoon Saga someday.

Excited to check out Dark Savior and especially Panzer Dragoon Saga though, both look gorgeous.

I recommend anyone getting into the saturn and shining force 3 to get the translation of all 3 games from CD romance and play it the way it was intended
We didn’t have many games growing up, but we had these 2 and they were my favorites by far. I played Iron Storm all the time growing up. I don’t recall what map, but I found a UFO on one of the maps.
I played both SHINING FORCE 3and Panzer DRAGOON SAGA... YOU COULD NOT FIT THIS MUCH ACTION IN TO 1, 2, OR 3 CDS... NEEDED 4 FOR IT... AND ALL WERE AWESOME
Iron storm was siiiiick. Guardian Heroes and "the horde", and road rash... top 4 games for sure, followed by BAT, Virtual On, Sega Ralley, and Daytona USA
