TAS Notes (Part 1) Common Enemy (vs Raditz) Kamehameha spam is faster here (As is usually the case with some exceptions). I can get the CPU to act differently depending on when I use the Kamehameha after charging energy, when I stop charging the Kamehameha itself right before it's fired, and where my position is when the CPU gets up. Out of all these options, changing when I use it is the best situation, as the extra energy I charged can be used to fire the next one in a shorter time. Goku's Quiet Rage (vs Nappa) Here, it's actually faster to follow the story for a bit before landing on Gohan, at which we spam Masenko attacks to take Nappa out. The parts with Tien and Chiaotzu are on a fixed timer before the story can progress, so I use Melee infinites involving Heavy Finishes and Ground Slashes to keep Nappa stuck. Both of their energy attacks freeze time when used, which delays the point where you can progress the story, so despite their higher damage, they're slower overall. With Tien's section after Chiaotzu's sacrifice, the story only progresses when Tien loses all his HP. By pressing C-Left or C-Right rapidly while getting hit, you perform a "Get off of me" energy wave that takes about half of your own health bar. Gohan's Masenko deals nearly 6K damage, in contrast to Chiaotzu's 4K Psychic Rock Throw. Ultimate Decisive Battle (vs Vegeta) The same story as with Raditz. Super Saiyan?! (vs The Ginyu Force) Kaioken x20 Kamehameha spam is faster here, broken up with using Goku's "I'm Getting Excited" skill to increase his energy charging rate. Frieza's Ultimate Transformation! (vs The Z Fighters but actually only Vegeta) It's faster to exclusively fight Vegeta and take out all of his health bars in his first form than go through the intended story, fighting everyone else, and transforming. Frieza's Death Beam deals so little damage that his Melee infinites are exclusively faster (In addition to a Pump Up that deals even more). Defeat Frieza! (vs Frieza) Faster to exclusively fight Frieza as Goku instead of switching to Piccolo and back to Goku. Melee infinites are faster than Kamehameha spam this time. I'm able to use "Give Me Energy!" while Frieza is stuck from a Heavy Finish to power up a Spirit Bomb similar to the actually intended story, which deals about 14K HP. It's a second or so faster than continuing Melee infinites with I'm Getting Excited! Legendary Super Saiyan (vs Frieza) In contrast to the RTA route which only uses Goku's base form to fight Frieza until the end, I found it was just barely possible to turn Super Saiyan and take Frieza out without having him reach 100% Power and get all his HP back. The game forces that cutscene and HP restore if Frieza falls under 20K HP while Goku is a Super Saiyan. Turns out, a beam clash with Frieza's Death Ball while using the Angry Kamehameha after using Now I'm Mad! does 20,320. To get the blast stocks required, I manipulate the AI to fire energy blasts that I can deflect. Enraged Android (vs Android 19) It's faster to just complete the entire story section as normally intended. I need Goku's HP to drop to 0 (Assisted with that "Get off of me" wave I used with Tien), then need to knock 19 down as Vegeta (Using a single Ki blast that 19 doesn't absorb for some reason), then need 19 to knock *me* down (Harder than it sounds because most of its attacks don't even flinch Vegeta), and then need to get 19 under 40K HP, before the scripted Big Bang Attack finishes the job.
4:22 *Vegeta gets hit with a Kamehameha* "What's wrong, Kakarot?! You can do better than that!" ... *Goku immediately does it again.* That was just hilarious to me. 😂
TAS Notes (Part 2) Vegeta's Curiosity (vs 16, Trunks, and 18) Due to Cell's increased Melee damage in this one, a TAS-only infinite of Ground Slashes and Heavy Finishes (With a spare Pump Up) are faster than pure energy spam. I finish Trunks and 18 off with a frame perfect charged Smash Hit, which deals considerable damage on its own. If 18 is allowed to go back to idle after falling below a certain heath threshold, a cutscene is forced to play where Krillin swaps in and Cell absorbs 18. By keeping her stunned, this cutscene is skipped. Perfect Body (vs Vegeta and Trunks) While beam spam deals far greater damage, there are HP thresholds I need to avoid with Vegeta in order to skip cutscenes and a Final Flash hitting me. The game forces you into a section where Trunks hits MAX Power after he falls to a certain HP value too, but by that point it's low enough for me to quickly finish him off anyway. Cell Games Begin (vs Cell) Beam spam followed by intentionally advancing a cutscene so Goku goes to MAX power. I also get Cell to do the "Get off of me" technique two times in quick succession, which I work to be in my favor. Gohan Explodes! (vs Cell Jrs and Cell) The Cell Jrs progressively get more HP and Defense, but they go down so quicly with a single string of melee attacks that it hardly does them any favors. Cell is dealt with through a combination of beam spam and melee, including a frame perfect Cutscene Skip to keep Cell down as I get energy back to fire another Kamehameha. Final Battle (vs Cell) Gohan's damage is very small in the first two sections, so I exclusively do melee strings to pass the time until Gohan gets his strength back. After that, the usual mix plus a Cutscene Skip to do the Father Son Kamehameha without needing to do a beam struggle with Cell. Future Peace (vs Cell) Melee strings followed by occasional energy attacks are faster for both Trunks' normal form and Super Saiyan form. Destined Battle: Goku Vs. Vegeta (vs Vegeta and Dabura) If you wait long enough while fighting Vegeta without killing him, you don't need to fight Dabura. As it turns out, however, using Kamehameha spam to take out Vegeta and Dabura is much faster than waiting for the timer to go down to skip Dabura. Farewell to the Proud Warrior (vs Majin Buu) The usual Melee strings with the occasional energy blast. Final Fusion (vs Buuhan) Remaining as Base Goku and spamming Kamehamehas is faster than going through the intended story and fusing into Vegito. Battle for the Universe (vs Kid Buu) Due to Goku's slow energy charging rate as a Super Saiyan 3, it's faster to do Melee strings to charge up energy while dealing damage, and then using the Super Kamehameha occasionally. Conclusion (vs Kid Buu) Every single character you swap into to advance the story along deals pitiful damage to Kid Buu's 70K HP health bar. Out of all of them, Fat Buu does the most, so I deal as much damage as I can with Goku, swap into Fat Buu, and then continue spamming Kamehamehas for the remainder of the battle.
Can't help but feel Majin Buu defeating Kid Buu would have actually been the better ending for the show. The entire collective saga felt a little mismanaged with who was meant to be the focus and having Buu finish it instead of defaulting to Goku would have been neat.
Practically the entire Cell and Buu sagas have been Toriyama trying to do something with the story/characters focus, and his editor going "the fans don't like it, change it".
Trunks: "You won't reach your perfect form, Cell!" Cell: "Plot twist, Trunks. A TAS is controlling me. I'm already in perfect form." Android 18: "Wait, so does that mean you don't need to absorb-" Cell: "Correct." *slaps her into the water, never to be seen again*
I hope in Tenkaichi 4 we get those unique attack animations. When I was a kid I used to play Chaotzu because his attacks were so funny looking. Also Burter.
TAS Notes (Part 3) Immortal Monster (vs Baby Vegeta) Kamehameha spam, interrupted by transforming into a SSJ3 to replenish Goku's Ki. Ultimate Android (vs Super Android 17) OK this one is funny because even though it's still the tried and true method of spamming Kamehamehas, you're 100% not intended to do this because Super Android 17's entire function in the game and in the anime is that he can absorb energy blasts. The CPU is almost guaranteed to start blocking the instant you charge an energy attack, so I had to try a good deal more to get the CPU to do what I wanted. Solar Warrior: 6000 Degrees of Power! (vs Nuova Shenron) Kamehameha spam. Ultimate Super Gogeta (vs Omega Shenron) Melee strings followed up by ki blast spam, unique to Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta out of everyone else in the whole TAS (As his ki blasts do a great deal more than everyone else). A Miracle Saves The Day! (vs Omega Shenron) Kamehameha spam. Ceiling Vs. Ground (vs Nam) Due to being the only mission taking place on the World Tournament stage, this fight is ended with a very quick ringout instead of needing to take out all of Nam's health. Amusingly, the fight ends before the announcer can even finish his opening lines. Battle in Korin Tower (vs Mercenary Tao) Kamehameha spam. Goku Strikes Back (vs Demon King Piccolo) Kamehameha spam. Penguin Village (vs General Blue) Kamehameha spam.
Hi there, I’m just curious and wondering if you can actually do spam ultimate attacks for Gohan (Adult) in Cooler’s Space Battleship. It would of been so interesting 💗😆
Amazing, thank you so much for doing this, and I can't believe it took two months for the algorithm to finally show this to me. As the runner in 2nd place who plans on getting 1st again soon, it's awesome seeing this game pushed to its limits and seeing familiar strategies be the truly optimal stuff. Of course, beam spam wins, but there is a lot here for me to think about aside from that. I love how you also found the Final Frieza clash kill. Just barely enough with the I'm Mad damage boost, but of course due to needing a clash from the ai, I completely wrote it off as tas only, so it was awesome to see it here. I do have something for you though. While experimenting, I found another glitch that lets you do a super using the increased damage stats from a transformation or cutscene super, without the cutscene or transforming. I have a video about it that shows some examples, but put simply, it is the cutscene activation input, and on the next frame, a simultaneous input of skip cutscene and super. This glitches out some supers like beams, but spirit bomb against frieza will work, doing way more damage than normal. And if you use it on the Heat Dome attack that does 99999 to final cell, you can make a simple burning attack do that damage instead. It also works on the Devilmite beam in the what if saga, but I had trouble getting it to work on the Father Son Kamehameha. There's some weird stuff with being in backflip super range that varies for some reason. You can also time the cutscene glitch with the enemy super, which leads to even more weird shenanigans like skipping an enemy transformation altogether. I have another video with some of these weird glitches, but if you are curious at all and do any labbing with this glitch, I'd love to see what you can get to happen. One final note, I love how you had a special note about super 17 being an asshole and making things difficult, he is easily one of the hardest stages and biggest run killers, and it seems that transcends real time runs. Thank you again homie, I appreciate this video and your hard work greatly.

That would be completing all of the Sagas available (This TAS doesn't do the What If Saga and Special Saga, as they aren't required to reach the credits) (EDIT): The above is the criteria for the "All Sagas" speedrun as defined by the community. I imagine 100% in the game itself would involve getting every unique ending of each mission (Which involves, say, beating Nappa as Tien, Chiaotzu, Gohan, and Goku). I don't know exactly, though.
