    Just bought the complete set up with the safety chains and whole works. So far very happy with it. The only question I have is this. With the raised ribs of the truck bed, the hitch only actually sits on small "slices" of the bed. The truck that I bought used has a bunch of spray shine stuff on the bed so the even with the hitch tightened to specs (and rechecked) the hitch assembly would kind of shift slightly back and forth and make a pretty good clunk. I'm obviously going to clean the shine stuff out of the bed, but would you recommend putting down a dense hard rubber pad under the hitch to help it grip the bed? Thanks and big thumbs up on this great invention/product.

      Andersen makes a rubber mat to go under the hitch to avoid this. Or you could do what I did and get a full rubber bed mat for the truck and cut out the goose ball hole. Make sure the top bolt is long enough to get several threads engaged into the tube by the time you get to 60 lbs of torque. I had to buy a longer bolt for my truck. The bolt I got was a 5/8”x4” grade 8 bolt with course threads (11 threads/inch).

    How do you not mention the wrench size.

    They clearly are not monitoring this. If you have questions, you need to call the company. Good luck everyone.

    Why turn the box around if the measurement is more than the side measurement I can’t afford to have less cab clearance?

    Can you explain the “why” behind the measurement comparison between the ball to side rails vs the back of funnel to back of kingpin +4” ? Sorry but want to understand the physics (yes I’m a geek)

      I would guess so that when you make a 90° turn the back of the pin box doesn’t hit the bed rail.

    What size gooseneck ball is this designed for (i.e. 2 5/16", 2", 3")?

      99 percent of GN balls are 2-5/16. I would imagine thats what this is designed for

      Go to the Anderson site, the rules are slightly different for this, I think there are only one or two states that require chains for this since it's a quasi kingpin setup

      And that's the hitches fault? You can only turn so far wether it's a long or short bed. Also you can adjust the adapter forward or backwards according to your bed size. These hitches work great on both.

    • @jeffmockus5400
      @jeffmockus5400 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Pretty sure you would have done the same with a conventional fifth wheel too. Sliding fifth wheel would obviously help.

      The Andersen Ultimate is a 5th wheel gooseneck mounting system. It uses a turnover ball in the truck bed, the Ultimate hitch, and a puck adapter on the king pin. So it is used for 5th wheel towing.
      Research Standard 5th wheel hitch and Gooseneck adapter.

      Did you use a regular wrench instead of a torque wrench? Most people don’t spend the $100 on it and it can cause things to break
