Last night, they were JUST like that right above my head, around 2am. I've never seen them so bright, because I live in the city and I've never seen them move like that either. They were bright green, with tinges of purple and white... my brother and I were just in absolute awe. It was amazing, the Earth and nature are amazing. I'm so glad I got to experience them.
WE (my son David and I was driving back from Port of Chief Mountain dropped of the dinner of Tom at the border of Chief MT and Alberta) it was so dark coming from Canadian side and all of a sudden, these was in front of us... I was astounded and speechless I thought a UFO will land, LOL but it dawned on me and Davey said Ma, it's the Northern Light (Aurora Borealis) WhoaaaWWOOOWWWWW God's wonderful handiwork... he showed this to us to enjoy it all..Thank YOU LORD.
I'll believe this is god when the northern lights spell out the words "Hey, it's God here, I'm doing this." Until then it's random electromagnetic signals that make cool pretty colours in random patterns in the sky
Yukonor, it makes more sense to me to believe that God created all things for a purpose, and put everything in motion according to His perfect will, than it is to believe that a spark started life and we have gone from pond scum to putting a man in space within however long scientists say we have been here. BTW, who created the spark that led to the Big Bang? Put it this way, I'll trust in my God, and believe that He does exist, and you can believe whatever you wish, and we'll find out when we fall at the feet of Jesus Christ to give an account to God about what we did with His Son Jesus Christ. You can take the gamble if you want, but the penalty for not believing in the Only Begotten Son of God will be eternal damnation in utter darkness, pain, loneliness and torture.
ok let me shed some light on you kiddies. science describes how acts of god occur. because every thing has a beginning and a end even gods actions have a beginning and a end. all science as done is look back in the past and done simulations that tbh prove that god does exist take for example the big bang which shows how the universe was made in a singular point and expanded from there well there is a similar story in the bible/Qur'an/torah that says in the beginning there was just one spot of light and then god says grow and it begin to grow sounds a lot like the big bang right? the fact of the matter is both describe the same actions except people in the past figured it out first and with out telescopes or tests and even with out the tests there results are the same. you guys need to stop getting caught up in the science vs religion fight because its not a fight both describe same actions the problem is tho people don't take the time to do all there homework they just listen to whats told to them like sheep XD LET ME GET YOUR WOOL SHEEP
I have seen some posts on the Aurora, but this is seriously the closest vid-capture that is true to what it really is. It changes quickly enough and its amazing to see. Thank you for posting this. :)
I have been fascinated by aurora borealis since I was a teenager...Now I am 50 plus...still fascinated by its awesome beauty. Thanks for this video. The soundtrack has a very good effect on me spiritually. I feel like i am more closer to our Creator .. This is truly a dance of spirits.
WOW! Thank you for doing this video. If there is one thing I could see just before i take my last breath it would be the Northern Lights. They look absolutely stunning. Mother Nature at her best 😀
The music is Visions of Socrates by Martijn de Man. The video was filmed at a place called Ravnastua in Finnmark, Norway. It take groups interested in photographing and timing the Aurora to this magical place every winter.
Its really hard for me as an Indian to afford and view this but I think I just set my lifetime goal. I will watch Northern lights by any means, I love it. Thanks for the video.
That was amazing. We had Northern Lights last night here in Acton, Ontario. I wanted to view your incredible video to find out what was the best way to do this. I was not disappointed. Great job and your excitement in the video clearly showed how incredible this night was. Congratulations and well done.
I wonder what the thumbs down people were thinking. I think this is amazing!! If people would just stop, and take a time-out, to look up they would see the beauty of the world around them and all of the amazing wonders above. Thanks for sharing. :)
I went to Fairbanks last year and stayed at the Aurora Borealis Lodge. It would have to be up there with one of the most majestic and invigorating experiences of my life!!
Aw man. Absolutly beautiful. We used to see the Northern Lights up in Ontario a lot but haven't seen them much anymore. You are soo lucky to see them at this magnitude.
This video made me cry the whole time. The aurora nearly looks like what I saw two months ago in Finland. Unfortunately I do not have proper equipment to film it and my pictures became quite blurry because I had to open the shutter for eight seconds on my crappy camera with maximum of ISO 1600. Thank you very much for this video! It's exactly what I was looking for!
thank you we see this in manitoba canada quite often the colors are spectacular curtain formations but the giant spirals are breath taking thanks again
OMG, This is my uncle's, Oscar Eriksen, lodge the Ravnastua. I saw this on a place very nearby, Karasjok, it was VERY breathtaking and really cool. It's amazing to see this on youtube, THANK YOU for uploading this. :D
Saw them in Pingvellir National Park good Friday 2013....similar but appeared to move incredibly fast for 30 minutes or so...best experience of my life!
Believe it our not, when I was growing up in Glenrock, Wyo I got to see these lights. It's very rare and isn't even close to this in size and color but it does happen. I remember beautiful green wispy lights flittering across the night sky for about 4-6 minutes. God blessed us with the beauty He made in His world!!!
This is how it can be when you watch in person. The speed is not altered in any way. The Aurora occurs on the majority of nights. Ideally you need to be around 66-70 degrees North, so the far north of Russia, Scandinavia, Iceland, Canada and Alaska. Some nights the Aurora is brighter and more active than others, the activity is driven by energy from the Sun and when you get large solar flares or coronal holes the Aurora is brighter and more active. I'm off to Iceland next week, Norway in Dec/Feb
There are few things as ethereally beautiful as the Northern Lights, and that deserves appreciation -- whether they were formed by God, the Universe, or something else. I also love the music -- it really completes this video. Thank you, Mr. Chapman!
@godduss73 It was taken in my uncle's lodge, where tourist can stay the night. It's near the village Karasjok (where I live) and it's called Ravnastua. You can check his web page, but unfortunately it might be in Norwegian. You can see the Aurora almost every day when the skies are clear of clouds of course, but might not be as strong as this.
Thank you for the real time. I only see it on TV and I keep looking on youtube to see what it really looks like and there are all these Time Lapse ones. I live in FL so I don't get to see this.
I am living now in Northern Finland it is always so damn cold in here, but the Northern Lights are amazing. Really nice video, I saw huge one the same night, but only from Oulu city. From outside the cities looks much cooler.
Excellent. Thanks for posting...and for shooting! I wonder if next time you try such a video you could set the camera focus to "Infinity". It appears that the building are sharp but the aurorae are sharper. I know that autofocus features might not make this possible. You could start by focusing on a distant tree or mountain during the daytime (if there is any!), then keep the setting. Thanks again.
@hedonegone1 me neither. it's nice to see it move in real time--for years upon years, all I'd ever seen was pictures. and then in the last few years, all I saw was time-lapse videos, and now this? AWESOME.
This is one of the things I want to see before I die...
If you're from the US check Norwegian Air. They are having a new route added and you can get round trip from US to Norway for under $500. Good luck!
That's just what my son and I said. This has to be nature at its best. And btw, love the Eagles...that's my team too.
Brian Fassbender Are you still alive?
Nah
Last night, they were JUST like that right above my head, around 2am. I've never seen them so bright, because I live in the city and I've never seen them move like that either.

Only God can create such awesome beauty, and there are still people who don't believe in Him. I thank God for giving us this awesome phenomenon.
Omg....please open a science book. These things aren't some magic trick by an invisible sky daddy.
Give it a break, CJ. The universe had to be put in motion by some force, and that Force was and is Almighty God.
I'll believe this is god when the northern lights spell out the words "Hey, it's God here, I'm doing this." Until then it's random electromagnetic signals that make cool pretty colours in random patterns in the sky

Absolutely magical! I never really had much interest in the Northern Lights until I saw this. Amazing!

I think the quality is just fine....actually amazing given what they had to work with. Thank you for sharing.

I believe they are, I think it's a portal where souls are ascending
Thank you. This is so much better than all those time lapse videos.
