  • I take an in depth look at not one, not two, but FOUR of the new hard cases created by SKB and ThinkTank. I've been loving these things, think you will too?
    These 4 are the: 2217-8DT, 1813-7DL, 2213-12DL and 2011-7DZ

As always another great video Scott. Always happy to see the little bell with a Scott Dumas video highlighted for me.
Thanks for taking the time to review stuff for us gear collectors :)

Glad to see you stepped up to a hard case for some of your photo needs. I've been super pleased with mine and it gives me a real sense of security (weather and shock protection) when I'm travelling. :-)

Totally agreed! I never worry about these getting bumped or anything and even something as simple as running from the car to a building in heavy rain is no sweat. Really glad I got some! :)

Best review in these cases I’ve seen. Really, you should be an ambassador for them.
I go back and forth whether I get the 2011-7 or ThinkTank Intl first. Though the SKB is half the price. I would much rather have the TT when traveling though for its wheels and luggage-look. But that’s later.
How about stacking the two smaller cases and strapping them to a foldable hand-truck? Even a small hand-truck can lift 150lbs. Easily enough for all your gear. And it may be easier to put into vehicles too. Just a thought.

Thanks so much! You should let them know that ;) haha.
I absolutely love the ThinkTank International and Airport series in general, but yeah the price is quite a bit different. I do think it's worth it, but in terms of sheer ruggedness these SKB cases will be the best bet.
I think strapping them to a hand truck could definitely work. They do get heavy so that hand truck will be a lifesaver haha, but I actually do the same from time to time when bringing a lot of gear on set. No worries at all about bumpy terrain, tough weather conditions, dropping them or other people handling my bags who don't know what's in them. I never worry about throwing them in a car or in the storage under a bus either which is really nice. They can fall over, I can stack stuff on top of them and save space etc and those are things I just can't confidently do with the ThinkTank bags. :)

Scott Dumas Totally. I’m a fashion photographer and the ThinkTank might make a better impression. Though, fashion photographer David Thompson, he’s on a Phase One video, has his camera in a Pelican and it’s all good. 😉 Keep up with the great videos!

Thank you so much for this video Scott. I am about to purchase a C100 Mk2, and was looking for a case to store it, your comments on how the video case is designed is making me second guess going with that particular model. In your opinion what do you think would work well for having the C100 with the top handle installed with a 50mm lenses, storing an additional 4 lenses (nothing crazy big) 24, 55-250, 10-18, and a 24-105. There will also be a 5Dmk4 stored int the case(with battery grip), 2 mics, a Tascam, and other accessories. I do wedding videography so I am trying to reduce my overall setup time, having everything in one case.

Hey, thanks for watching and glad you found it helpful! The video case has actually been working out pretty well for me with the C200 (top and side handle attached) and a handful of extra lenses even a 70-200 (plus mics, batteries, cables etc). I have a few photos on my facebook page of the setup if you'd like to see how it fits in there (not that it's the only way it can be managed of course).
I've seen some people even using the case with the soft insert for the C200 but I think you'd have to remove the top and/or side handle to get it in there, although you could probably still fit extra stuff around it as well.
If there's anything specific you'd like to know feel free to reach out through Facebook as well, I can usually reply fairly quickly on there. The link should be in the video description but if you can't find me let me know :)
