THANK YOU to every person who suggested sitting in the seat to get the last bit of slack out of the belt. It is tight as a drum now! I feel much better about the install than I did when I started this process an HOUR ago.

What worked for me for tightening was putting the recliner on 3 (the first step they show on this video). When it was on the default level 1 I could barely tighten it, but once it went to 3, it was very easy to tighten it.

At first when I did this it was super loose, I did it just like the video..crap. but I got it to work by leaving one side latched then tightening the belt all way then I sat in car seat ( weigh it down) then applied the other latch. Not budging now

Yeah, I knoticed putting mine was loose too until I stood up in the car and used both my hand and knee to hold it down and in place to get it to tighten properly. I haven't tested in driving yet but I will tomorrow before work around my neighborhood.

I initially had problems tightening the seat using the car’s seatbelt but I found this video and saw how the latch belt worked and used it. You have to push down hard on the seat as you tighten the belt but it worked. There is hardly any movement at all.

What this video fails to mention is that you have to push down REALLY hard on the seat in order to get a secure fit. It also helps if you have someone else give you a hand . And also if you remove the left cup holder and pull the latch belt through it makes it easier to pull straight up.

Use the anchors. But when tightening, lift up the fabric to thread the strap under the cup holder where the belt path is then pull it hard towards you. You can get it very tight and snug. Every other method it’s loose.

@@juritzihernandez best thing to do is take it to the fire department they have classes. But for these bro, I realized you do the back strap to secure the seat to the back of the car seat. Then just do the seat belt through the seat belt pass. Pull the seat belt out all the way and let it go a little until you hear a little click, then you know you’re good. Then slide it through the path and click it in. Then while standing outside pull the seat belt towards you. You will hear it like click and then let it go. What’s happening is the belt is being pulled back into its receptacle. You will notice once you do it right the seat is so firm you can’t move it

I have done this exactly as this video shows. However, unless I am installing it in a vehicle that has adjustable seat backs I cannot get it right. Your video makes it look like it’s easy to tighten the strap but it isn’t. My husband who used to be a police officer who was certified in child safety seat installation cannot pull the strap to tighten it. So now our car seat is just floppy and moves every time I go around a corner. Did I get a defective product?

Please read this before you ship this car seat back ..first off everyone is right..this car seat is difficult to tighten up to the car ..this video doesn’t help with tighten the straps .. I couldn’t do it all..no matter what I did it was loose , bending to the side or wiggle..let me tell you ..I got a male friend with muscles to do it and it’s tight AF…no wiggle at all…not even a little ..I’m shocked bc I thought it was impossible !!! So I will describe this as best as possible …do not pull the strap from the very end of it …pull the strap from the bottom close to the car seat …all the way at the bottom by the adjuster ..pull up like str8 up from the bottom bottom while pressing down on the car seat …hope this works ..if not get a strong man to do it ..this is actually a good car seat …I love it ! But I was like you frustrated AF! Looking for the label to ship it bk …don’t !!! Try my method or get a man to do it …hope it works!

According to the manual, you do not use the LATCH system when using as a booster seat. It says to secure the lower anchor belt and tether strap to their storage locations. Seems like you'd just place the booster seat flush against the vehicle seat back, and then use the car's seat belt to buckle your child in. That's what I'm getting from the video and manual. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

Everyone has said it but it seems you have to thread the loose end of the lower latch belt back through the car seat to even have a shot of tightening it down. I recommend having one person push down on the seat while the other person tightens by pulling on the loose end after it’s threaded back on itself. Once we tried that, it definitely tightened to the right point.

This carseat is terrible compared to the Nina. it doesn't seem safe. There should be a locking mechanism that smashes the seatbelt into the carseat. It makes me really sad that people who can't afford the $800 carseat are stuck with this crap. It's dangerous. It's not fair.

Like everyone else here, I struggled to get this thing tight enough! My husband pulled the straps while I sat in the seat; no dice. I finally tried loosely installing the back hook, then reclining the actual seat of the car just slightly, then threading the lower latch belt through; connecting it to one side and tightening it as much as possible before connecting it to the other side. Still loose. THEN I raised the seat of the car up a bit, and it finally tightened!
Honestly though, I’d just suggest a different brand. Our Chicco car seats have always worked great, and weren’t such a pain to install. I’ve bought other Safety 1st products and I wouldn’t recommend those either. IMHO, avoid this brand

I find it funny the video lapses in rear facing install from when she tightens it to when she wiggles it. It was definitely not tight enough when she first pulls it and suddenly is tight after the video lapse.

This car seat is trash. I’m doing rearface and I tightened it as tight as it goes and you can still move the car seat with no issues. It moves around all over the place. Don’t buy this car seat. Its trash. Their rear view is not secure. I tried it with the seatbelt and the clamps and tightened it tight asf. There should be secure on the back too not just put a strap through the front of the car seat. The only reason it’s not moving in this video is because she has sunk in seats that sink it into place. 0/5

Does anyone know how to get a refund? We got this at our baby shower. We spent about 2 hours in the heat trying to install this. One of the straps is not long enough and the end result is a seat that can easily move.

    • @theren8311
      @theren8311 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You're supposed to run the longer one through, since that's the part that actually extends and shorten. Then buckle then and tighten.

Something I noticed with this car seat is if your back seat reclines make sure you have it at the most upright position at least for forward facing cuz it’s definitely going to be harder to tighten. Otherwise I haven’t had any issues with installing and removing this car seat

They must have updated the manual because loading the car seat into the th-cam.com/users/postUgkxIG_q-ZqgbzYXwbeApK3AybegDUy4f2fF double stroller was mentioned in the manual (unlike previous comments/reviews). The undercarriage basket is quite large but it is difficult to access when the back rider is reclined, however my toddler usually doesn't fall asleep in the stroller these days so I haven't had an issue. I was amazed by how smooth the ride was and how easily I was able to maneuver the stroller in small spaces. My toddler loves that she can see her baby sister (see photo) during the ride :) Plus you can't beat the price! I have only loaded it once in my car and it is fairly light but my mother wouldn't be able to lift it in.

    READ THIS!
There is nothing wrong with this seat. I was watching this as a basic tutorial rather than reading the manual for installation.
I then read all the comments here and thought I made a mistake buying this seat. Then I remembered I was schooled in NZ and not the USA and was able to install the seat with no issues.
People who cannot install this seat tightly are either idiots/do not understand the basic concept of leverage or pathetically weak. You can remove a cover and thread the belt through the seat to tighten, also push down on the seat if you aren't very strong.
If you drive on the left (like we do) the safest seat in the car switches to the left rear seat, yet the straps do not change, which means I had to install the seat from the middle of the car instead of the doorwell. Despite this, it was still easy as hell.
So yeah, ignore the yanks. the seat is fine.

We bought this car seat as both wife and i have our own cars. The first car seat we have is a “Nuna Rava” although they are pricey i think it well worth the money! It feels and looks way sturdier than the safety 1st one. I hate that even after following all the instructions on the video the car seat is still very loose. For future parents please read reviews, watch videos, go to stores and touch and experiment with the car seats displays because after having a good quality one (nuna) and a cheap one (safety 1st) there really is a HUGE DIFFERENCE in the quality! At the end of the day its for the safety of our babies and i think its well worth spending more money and having that sense of security.
