I'm so exited .. I made a decision to change from general to ortho, been doing general for 17 years ... and this videos made my decision to change so much easier.. is a yes for me, what I was doing all my life!!!! ...wish me luck ...

Hello! My dentist told me I need to get braces next appointment, and I’m really nervous! This helped me a lot to understand what is going to happen, but I do have some questions, 1. Does the device they use to open your mouth hurt your mouth? 2. Will the brackets hurt me? 3. How easily will the brackets break? 4. What foods can I eat with braces? 5. Can I still eat fast food? Please answer these questions! Thanks!
These videos are awesome! Thank you so much please do more! I've been an ortho assistant for 2 years and some of the things you talked about in your first video I have done but had no idea why.
Hopefully I go to you guys because I'm going to dentist on September 19th I'm going to the dentist to check my teeth if I need braces cause my teeth are crooked
This is so interesting. As a patient, you don't see all that went into putting the brackets on. Are there guidelines to putting on the brackets ( centered or place low for the bottom row ?) or is it eyeballing it ? thx
I’m an orthodontist nurse in the U.K. and I tell you something, us nurses don’t do all the work that Steph is doing only the consultants or registrars get to put brackets on. So I would like to know do all nurses / assistants in your practice or the USA allow their nurses to put brackets on? Thanks
Just came across this video and i am quite surprised no one mentioned that this young lady already had nearly perfect straight teeth. Why did she bother to have braces on? 😢
she may not have had a correct bite, maybe some cosmetic reason and i know she could do invisalign because it may have been one tooth or two teeth that needed fixing but sometimes it is more expensive so maybe braces was within more of her budget! i don’t know, just my guess!
Thank you SO much for this video. I'm getting braces in 3 days and I now have a better understanding on how everything is done. I have separators in between my teeth rn and it sucks but I'm getting used to it so hopefully my braces journey isn't too bad 😅
@sustym1748 sorry I didn't reply my TH-cam is late on notifications 😅 it sucks in the beginning and I regretted getting braces but it's been only 2 weeks with them and I'm so used to them I forget they exist. It's gonna get better
@yajunnn4004 the appointment usually takes about an hour cuz they have to position every bracket but it depends on how they put them on but your cheeks will be sore from the cheek retractor and holding your mouth open. They put the molar bands on first and the glue they use is really sour and gross and they push it all the way to the bottom of your tooth which can hurt a little bit if it hits your gums (which happened to me). I recommend taking ibuprofen or Tylenol after the appointment so it's easier to get used to the soreness and you'll be able to eat better. It's more of a weird tight feeling the first day but FYI the second day is usually the most painful I've had them for a month now and only a few teeth or one tooth gets sensitive every once in a while when they change the wire. Oh and please take very good care of your teeth when you have braces on because it's really easy to get cavities in between your teeth.
Im.not your student but just a cool feedback I would it love to hear about what ortho tool was use for what, example the scaler, the bracket holder etc... for newbies great page
I had braces 13 weeks ago just feels like load of pressure I do have to get colour changed every 1 week the glue is 🤢 but if you like butter i don’t when done feels totally weird few day you will get used to it
My orthodontist put braces on the upper 6 teeth on my 1st appointment and then i got my 2 teeth removed ,and i had to get 2 teeth removed a week later..... I just want to know is it normal?
Today i have my braces on at age 12. After 1 hour the wire pulls on your tooth and it will ache but i recommend painkillers. Soon you and your body will get used to it and they will not be a problem. 😊😊😊
Hi can you please tell is it required in any case to remove the last teeth 🦷 in the bottom or upper case to make some space for the teeth that will be adjusted after putting the braces. My dentist said that he will remove the last pair of teeth for making space, is it required please tell.
So I’m going into 9th grade and I want to be a orthodontist when I’m older, what classes do you wish you took in high school to prepare you to be a orthodontist.
Based from what I got at kriss ai, using a dental drill to polish the surface of teeth is a common practice in orthodontics and general dentistry. This procedure is typically done to smooth out the teeth, remove stains, or prepare the teeth for bonding brackets or other orthodontic appliances. When performed correctly by a trained professional, it should not damage the teeth. So, maybe there was something wrong with your dentist...?
@@VanessaRodrigo311-nw8ye It's important to ensure that any dental procedure, including polishing, is performed by a qualified professional to avoid potential damage to the teeth. BTW what is kriss?
Thank you for educating our patients and professionals that are in this industry. Just a friendly reminder to your staff, even though they give their patients proper PPE, remember the assistants are not excluded. It scares me that she's not wearing eyewear to protect her eyes from the solutions and debris.
I’m getting braces in a week so this rlly helped bc I have the biggest fear of needles the last time I went to the doctor for a check up I saw needles and I fainted when I woke up I cried then puked then fainted so they had to remove the needles
I think my dentist put my front tooth braket wrong. The maxillary central twin braket is not parallel to the tooth and my tooth was parallel before i had braces, now its slanted like "\". I noticed the crooket braket the first day I got my braces but didn't say anything because I just trusted the Dr. But now 6 month later my teeth are straighter but the front tooth looks weird and the one next to it "lateral braket with ball hook" tooth hasn't straighten out either. It looks like it cant figure out how to fit itself even though that's where it goes. I have my 6 appointment next week and Dr said they where going to shave my teeth so they look better but now idk if I want them to. Do you have any advice on what I can exactly ask my Dr.? My worry is the Dr ignoring my concern and saying it's fine and shaving my teeth wrong. 😭😭
Never ever shave your teeth it's makes tooth sensitive in longer run. Remember, as we age, our teeth weakened so if you shave, then in a few years, you will be crowning them & it cost more. & destroy your tooth
When you’re getting your braces, just try not to like taste the bond and the blue substance because it taste like sh*t Trust me, it’s from personal experience 😭

Yup it gets sucked up.
How come you did not use a bracket gauge when you put on the brackets?

In Texas I don't believe there is an orthodontic certificate for assistants.
