It's so boring to be mad about things all the time. Anberlin is BACK and making cool shit again! It's a little different than before, but how exciting is that?! We don't know what to expect and that's so fun! I'll miss Stephen but Matty is so talented and the rest of the Anberlin guys know how to make great music, so I'm stoked for what's coming next!
I personally love this change. I seen anberlin first in 2008, and then again in 2022. Stephen has gone major down hill live. Like he has almost no control. That’s what happens when you get older and family is first priority. Your performance just naturally goes down. Matty is in the prime of his career, and has become one of the top vocals for metalcore. Especially live! It’s a win-win to me. You get Stephen on studio and get his sound, but live you get someone, who I think, is just an all round better vocalist. And he brought the scream back to feel good drag! That’s a perfect way to start in terms of throwing your own spin on it
You put it perfectly. And sadly, you’re right about Stephen. I’ve seen them 4 times with Stephen in the last 2 years and he runs out of breath a lot now and his stamina seems to be lacking live. Seems like he’s out of practice and more tired. Matty is a phenomenally consistent great vocalist live. I saw Memphis May Fire live a year ago and he was perfect live. This is gonna be a cool live change for Anberlin
Totally agree with Johnny. Its tough to replace Stephen, and i think a vocalist is such a key part of the identity of a band. So as soon as it changes, it will always sound like a slightly different band. I wasnt certain when the song first started if i totally vibed with it, but by the end of the song i was into it. Its an interesting new direction for the band and im interested to see where it goes. In terms of musically, this is probably one of my favourite tracks they have released for a while.

I grew up listening to anberlin through high school and my young 20s they were always great. The new singer is just a new era and to me doesnt feel like the LP situation who i also grew up on.
Been listening to them since 2005 and kept up with them consistently ever since. I think this is a cool change, Matty is phenomenal live. I’ve seen Anberlin live 6 times and Memphis May Fire once, I can see the melding work
I think Matty is going to be great. I may not listen to Memphis May Fire, but I think Matty's going to blow the roof off the place once things settle in. I feel like Walk Alone was kind of short. I definitely didn't love it instantly, and I still think the first two choruses aren't given enough time to properly hit. But the instrumentation still sounds like Anberlin, and I have high hopes for what comes next.
