Awesome video and so refreshing to see too.. there are hardly any channels out there that do this especially as a follow up.. I think currently only Alien has a workshop that he occasionally does this stuff on. Many thanks for sharing and glad you got your ninebot on the road again. Only thing you didn't cover on this was "cost" the fix and how it compares to a new or used ninebot instead

I had a thought, It would be nice when upgrading connector, maybe use a weather sealed
connector mounted externally to make rear wheel RR easier for repairs.

I had bought the Ninebot Max on the Indiegogo platform for around $550 or $600 bucks at the time and was doing small upgrades here and there with Chris and was set to take my Ninebot down to him, as I encountered a hiccup when I installed the sharkset extended bar and front suspension. But mine was unfortunately stolen and never got it back. :/
One the main reasons I bought a Nami to replace my Max and put security measures on it now. Two alarm systems and GPS tracker lol.
Maybe if you and Chris aren't too busy, sometime this year we could all meet up for a ride in WA state. I have a friend here in Yakima who has a Sherman and other EUCs, as well as he's very experienced rider on the EUCs.
I have a Nami, Surron, V11 and looking to maybe purchase a Lacroix Lonestar Supersport sometime early next year. Maybe even one the newer EUCs after first batch

Great video. I have a front and back suspension coming from max mods and will probably get a 48v upgrade along with the fat max motor. I'll definitely be redoing those connections. I'm just curious what would be better option, the external 48v or the internal 48v battery replacement, or both?

Hi there! I need to replace the tire valves, I think the rubber around it cracked on the rear motor wheel. Was hoping that was under the “tire removal” in this video but didn’t look like you needed that done. Any recommendations or pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Hey do you have the my max 48 gold edition battery internal upgrade. I was wondering do you loose the regen break capabilities of the nine bot?
So do I have to open it up like that if I need to replace my back tire? My back tire got punctured and I need to fix it but I'm not sure how to do it

It is alive, the usual blue connector has melted, the control unit has also jumped, a resistance on the control unit must be changed to bring it to 48v safely. We wait for the test of Chris' engine for g30
Thanks for posting this. All of my connectors have melted! I'm going to just hard wire the new controller to the motor wires - hopefully that'll do the trick!
I hard wired the controller wires to the motor using block connectors, but the controller had actually blown.
Bought a new one, had to cut off the black plastic connecters from the new one to hard wire it to the motor...and voila, we're up and running.
Unfortunately a few weeks after that, the internal transformer died! So bought and fitted that and once again, we're up and running!
why they melt?
@@00_itachi25 Apparently it happens quite regularly. There's a lot of current going through those connectors and the metal to metal connection between the two isn't massively strong - thus they get hot, may spark and sometimes melt.

I can't solder at all so what I want to know is what size of wago conectors do I use. I have the 12volt ext battery from mymaxmods and just bought a new controller (burnt mineout like you did)

Hey! Great video. Would you be able to list the size of the screw bits you used to remove all the bolts? I tried a few of the bits in the set that I currently have, but i don't have the correct sizes. I wanted to make sure that I get the correct one the next time I go to the hardware store.
Also are the replacement wires and connectors commodity items you acquired separately? Or are they in some sort of upgrade kit that can be purchased?

So moral of the story, don't use Re-Gen braking, since it can cause things to fail faster, besides putting extra wear on the electronics?
Any tips on fixing the - for lack of a better word “steering limiter”? Steering now rotates 360 degrees.

Question is, if 15 amps on this spot of connectors is not a purpouse? To create the weak spot in wire to protect other parts from fire ? Isn`t this a Fuse connection ???
I had also Blue and Brown wire melted in the same spot. Stock Ninebot Max. And it was still going. Was replaced in waranty still.
No , not fused. The stock connector can't handle the power surge/amps going through, especially on a full battery with regenerative brake set on high on a downhill, clearly an engineering mistake.
I fried my ninebot max with the 48v battery but the controller still turns on but all 3 connectors burned up to ash but can I still use the original controller if it still works
I ran the battery on my ninebot G30LP down to about 11.5 volts because I let it sit to long. Is there a way to reset something so it will charge again?

Hi, i have looked every where for this info but could'nt find an answer , i just wondered if you guys know if the third party G30 (XBOT) controller will work with out the BMS wire connected and not through up an error code, i have a copy G30 and the battery doesn't have battery data cable!? The controller it came with is one of a kind and no one sells it on any web sight. Hope you can help. Thanks in advance.

Is there a temperature that is too hot to ride your scooter or not recommended? It gets over 100 out where I am should I not ride on those days for the health of my scooter?
Over 100 is definitely pushing it. But as long as you're not flooring it for the entire duration of the battery then it'll be fine.
What board do need convert a shared scooter to make it to a regular g30max thanks

How would one know if the controller is dead? I have a max and thought the motor was dead but the power turns on so bought a new motor and still the same. Any help would be appreciated 🙏
Thats how you know lol. Either your controller or your actual spring loaded throttle mechanism.
Im not sure if this video is too old for comment but I have a ninebot max as well and the display just keeps flashing and each flash it lights up each part of the display (Eco, D, S, light, bluetooth, walk mode, temp warning, etc. No error numbers. I can't turn of or on as well. I believe I used Xiao flasher and this happened. I can't find anything online about what the issue may be. If I managed to describe said problem well enough, does this sound like something you've dealt with before
I've never heard of it before. Try reflashing the stock firmware and see if it persists. If it does then its likely a loose connection between display and controller or a bad controller, maybe from water damage.

Hey big fan of your reviews very informative. I have a stock Max Gen 2 and the MyMaxMods external kit I will be installing soon. I subscribe and watched your ninebot max can you ride it through hell test video and obviously the outcome as seen in this video. I just wanted to ask how long and under what kind of riding conditions she lasted before the breakdown and upgrade?
On that super hot day when I was riding around at max speed with the upgrade kit and custom firmware it lasted about an hour I'd say. I could feel a loss in top end speed when the phase connectors started melting. That bad connection led to the controller overheating and... Poof! If you put in the battery extender, I'd open up the bottom too and upgrade to the XT connector for the motor wires too at the same time. Then you won't have to worry about it.

I just bought a g30 max second gen (new), but I had it sitting for about 3 months before riding it. It worked perfect for about half block ride and then poof! Totally dead. It was hard to push home and when I got home I took it apart and noticed that the main battery connector to controller connector would spark and the blue battery light will spark and turn red. I'm stumped can you help?? Ty

My ninebot dash will turn on when I hold the power button but turns off when I let go ? Flashed the displays a 10
Interesting -- the washer acts as a little torque plate
the washer has this lip for safety reasons. it keeps the wheel in place even the nuts are opened a bit.
I'm debating between repairing my Max myself (damaged back wheel+fried controller and connectors+diminished battery capacity after nearly 1.5 years of riding on sport mode) or buying a brand new G30. The screws on the bottom plate are damaged from careless curb scrapes so I will have to invest in a brand new drill as an extra cost to remove the plate. This is fristrating.
How much miles or kilometers have you done on it? I'm planning to get one and use it daily
Have you mod it?. I have an G30E II (25kmh) model, 1gen motor.
Always in Sport mode, with full regen break.
Around 7000km on my scooter now. No burned connector. And Battery works like new.
Only i needed to fix was replace front berings after 1year: Driven all year around in Sunny days, Snow, Rain.

I think it's your controller. If I were you I would do exactly what we did in this video. Replace the controller and the motor connectors.

Ok. I have an issue that I haven’t seen before, nor can I find a history of.
Got Error 14 on a Ninebot Max. Tried connecting new throttle to brain, no change. Disconnected everything except main power, still Error 14 on brain. (Brain=main screen)
Installed brand new module, and error was cleared but button did nothing to change modes or turn on headlight. Wheel when rotated begins low throttle operation (3Km/hr or so) but showed no speed on the display and the throttle does nothing.
Installed an old display removed from a different scooter, and everything seems to work fine now.
Like - super strange.
Will this eventually happen to people who installed the 48v mod and did not upgrade the connectors? Does that increase the likelihood of burning up the controller?
Not unless you're a heavy rider who goes around flooring it in 100 degree weather all the time.
Would 195 be considered a heavy rider?
So we should turnoff Regen break in the app to solve melting in the first place to right
you cant disable it on the segway app you can just set in to the lowest mode but i recommend flash the scooter and disable kers fully
i bought a kit then found out i cant een flash my scooter because the firmware is to new i wish i wouldve known that before i bought it now i can do the st link thing but thats a pain or get a new controller
Well looks like I'm turning my Regen braking onto low or off, that's definitely a design flaw. There's a hill I ride down to work that's easily half a mile and pretty steep. Im coasting at 20mph with the Regen on medium.. this kinda scares me because my commute to work is 3.6 miles..
the melted connectors blew the controller board. the new connectors can handle this regen amps. thers a reason why on cfw the kers is turned off. on stock wireing the connectors are to weak for tuned cfw.

Could be anything from loose connection to a dead controller. You're going to need to do some pretty hardcore troubleshooting.

Good day. I bought a G30 two days ago. Watched the video and downloaded the scooter hacking app. It advised me to backdate my software. After that the scooter won't turn on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How long did you have the kit for and were you riding in very hot temperature?
Well, using the hardware way outside of their specifications is usually a bad idea.

This is related to a hall sensor failure? Was your ninebot loaded with custom firmware? I did some reading and it sounds like replacing the controller, just like we did in this video, is the easiest way to fix it.

I changed the controller and my rear wheel is still hard to spin
Either the phase wire connections are melted, or connected incorrectly, or the motor is fried. I'd lean more towards phase wires though.

A better solution instead of soldering MR60 to the wires is to crimp the wires and use a Wago Connector to join the wires up. Wage allows up to 32 amps which is plenty and give a great connection. As simple as pushing the wire into the connector and pushing down the clamp. Solder wont last as long as a Wago connector.
Then if you need to remove your motor you need to snip the wires again instead of just unplugging

@@dataroberts8962 oh, I was under the impression there was no soldering with Wago connectors. You absolutely need to solder the wires though to ensure a robust connection.

@@GingerOnWheels have used the wago for ages and works perfect. Also these connectors last forever and will outlast solder by a mile
