The Vegas story reminds; when I was in college my folks were excited I was coming home for spring break. I could take them to the airport, do chores while they were gone and still be home when they got back from the Bahamas.

(Just as you head out on treacherous roads.)---Boy, the things ya gotta know about farming on the prairie. ---I left when I was 10, remember one 40 below day, but was disappointed on exiting the house, diamonds sparkling in the snow, it didn't feel any colder than zero. Sigh. Plenty of storms in Albuquerque, but usually only 2 major ones per year. The rest, melted by noon. Now I've got hopes for more rain here in Central Coast California, where the weeds are shin-high, flowers bloom, and feral tomatoes still grow in protected areas. (Wish I had a cistern.) I think the song has kind of a negative tone in that the son gets too busy to be with his family much as the father did in his younger days. And that surely doesn't apply to the relationship between Brian and Cole
@@lordhoho1 I know the meaning of the song, not everyone takes a song at the artist's reason for releasing it. I can think of many songs that are taken differently than their intended meaning. Look at the whole picture of things and you'll see the same. Catch phases from songs can mean as much as the song itself.

It wouldn’t matter where you were living. This humongous storm took up a good portion of the country. It was -7 with a sharp north wind blowing at 28 mph! The wind chill got down to -28.

If you yell loud enough that it's too cold your herd will understand. All that mooing and bellowing is them saying "okay, we'll be fine. You just take off as long as you like and we will be fine on our own". Right?

They don’t but most of them don’t have to milk twice a day and make sure the milk truck gets in there every two or three days. I have seen different size experienced different Sides.
Thanks for showing the folks out here what it takes to get a ribeye to the store for them to buy and eat. So many in our world today haven’t the faintest idea.

yep...Farming is hard...that is why a lot of people don't do it...and I have much respect for your mom and dad...I do appreciate what you do for our nation...WE GOTTA EAT...I don't know if this helps..I was a coal miner for almost thirty years...and I worked with ranchers who had to work the mines, just to keep the ranch from folding...Tough Job, and thanks..

I took a summer break, (my summer here in Australia n gotsta get my VitD), from YT but now the weather has turned so I'm going to binge watch my favourite family. And I didn't realise til I saw Miss Ellie how much I missed seeing her, she's the GOAT of Sonne Farms. 😆

Ya know, if you backed the tractor into the shed (2nd location) rather than put it in loader first, the cab might actually stay snow free for you. Carrying a bale back on the loader to further block the wind into the shed would help too.

We had like 5 warnings going on at once Cole don't miss livestock chores at -20 plus the windchill don't know why they just don't say no travel and if we have to come get you cuz your stranded there's a hefty fine, I know South Dakota had it posted 500 dollars fine if they had to go get you. Hope things warm up while your folks are gone and you and Tiffany have a Merry Christmas.

We had the worst conditions I can remember in my lifetime last week. I bedded down cattle but with the high winds and blowing snow it didn't matter. It looked like they stayed out in the rain then snow then flash freeze. I believe we reached -40 windchill. My calves were shivering. Everyone made it through.

Loved the ending when she hollers at you! That is pretty much the way it is around here too. We in Ohio are feeling the weather too. On Friday we woke up to Neg 5 degrees. It hasn't been like that in a few years. I had to pick up my son in Columbus airport coming in from DC. Luckily his flight was only delayed for 45 minutes. but somehow his original arrival was 6:20 and ended up being 8 o'clock. from my house to the airport on any given nice day would be around 1 1/2 hours but it was 2 3.4 hours . We had it better in our southern area compared to columbus. Lots of wrecks and standstills.

Can still remember the Kansas wind blowing the snow. Chill facter 50 below. Long long time ago. No more for me. Southern California for me after that.

We still have 1 old horse, some chickens and geese. The bobcat killed our ladt goqt, duck all the geese and half our chickens. In the end we got him. Bought some new geese and chickens. No goats yet. As said. We are both much oldwr now.
Oh well. Am happy you are happy and have a good tractor with equipment and vehiclel to drive.
One day there will be automated machines you just push a button and it clears the snow for you whike you watch.
I know. Kind of sad because future machines will lack some of the fun our of doing a good job.
