They were fighting the terrorists on the front lines. Against terrorists, you cannot reason, because they don't listen to you. With governments, you can reason and protest. (Unless you're calling the U.S a terrorist state...)
They're college kids now. So, middle school? High school maybe? That depends on what events you personally feel they had the right to take an interest in.
The Federal Republic of Germany didn't bomb Munich during the terrorist attack of 1972. Terrorists are a case for the police, not the military.

Keep standing up for Gaza
This is one of the biggest issues in the world and the US state is a huge player. These students will have a clean conscience for standing up for peace. It makes campus uncomfortable... compared to the pain US foreign policy and arms continue to cause around the world... it's nothing. I pray that more citizens from rich nations wake up to see what is done in their name. The global south is tired of being the battle ground for wars and exploitation in the name of profit for the very few.
You worded that beautifully💛
It can be supporting the people. Not the war.

This is the best time for Netanyahu. He ias a president in the US, who is very supportive of Israel, but who might lose election to another pro Natanyahu for not reigning in Natanyahu.
For Biden, the best decision is to go hard against Natanyahu, and maintain his democratic base. Since that is the only way for him to defeat Trump.

please explain?

These students want the university to divest their endowments from Israel. Do you think that US universities have investments with Hamas? They don’t. Therefore they can’t protest for the universities to divest.
The people with the pastries in Berlin were actually Germans. And what has killing 14,000 children to do with that?

Why are they not protesting the war in Sudan?
You can organise a Sudan protest.

Correction: Genocide in Gaza
No such thing.
Palestinians should move beyond organizing and financing protests in western countries and univs. They should build governance institutions and adopt a constitution. They should work hard, sweat with discipline and diligence. Nobody else will. Soon protesters will find some other cause.
If anyone is financing protests in the USA, it is Israel. Ever hear of AIPAC or ADL?
How can you build anything in a country when everything you build gets bombed and you aren't allowed to transport building materials in because of a blockade, and when boats try to bring aid in they get boarded, in an act of piracy according to International Law, by the Israeli Military, and everyone on board secreted away to blacksites in Israel. How?
Israel will not allow the conditions for good and stable governance to exist within Occupied Palestinian Territory. They are not even allowed to have an airport. There is no free coming and going. Everything has to be approved by Israel.
Since the Palestinians aren't allowed sovereignty, that means Israel is directly responsible for the situation on the ground there, and by extension, for any consequences thereof.
I don't condone violence against civilians, and my heart breaks for all suffering, but exactly for that reason, do we not have to sympathize with Palestinians? What would you do in their place? If all your "hard work, sweat, discipline, and diligence" was not allowed to pay off because you were living under a violent occupation.
I am pretty sure you would fight back. And call the fighting back by whatever means you had at your disposal self-defense.
