What a great find with the tunnels open - thank you for showing us around! I didn’t think they could be accessed at all these days!

I lived in Dorking for 30 years and I only found out about Deepdene Trail in 2020. I've never knew about the tunnel until now. Great video, thank you

Brave. Could never go in somewhere these days where the only entrance even kids could lock the gate shut behind as a joke. And no way out with all the doors & windows bricked or concreted in. Yikes!

    • @AbandonedUK

Brave! I don't think so. I've Never seen kids out & about first thing in the morning, don't even see them doing a paper round hardly, probably up late on their games consoles. In the unlikely event of being trapped in...
I had my phone & back up torches/batteries, failing that I would have had to resort to trying the rusting spiral stairway to heaven or if one does not like spiders.....Hell ;-)
Thanks for watching & commenting & have a very Happy New Year!

Such a shame the house was demolished. The modern builds are an eyesore. Great tunnel explore though 👍🏻

Loved that tunnel and the way it was constructed with the iron arches, it just goes to show that wherever you go exploring you will always at some point need a torch:)

Really did not imagine the tunnels gate to be wide open, very surprised, I have the same neewer light as you use, plus a back-up or three ;-) this place was a revisit as I had read about some restoration work had happened there.

Very nice story, sadly that beautiful garden is gone to the dogs, nice rusty tunnels, the kind with holes in the floors, nice explore :-)

Great bonus to get into the tunnels again yes. I suppose Kuoni staff are no longer about to check the entrances stayed sealed. I gathered they owned / (still own?) all the land and sought to stop explorers repeatedly getting in there. What's the flooded land and road bridge you showed from 25:50? What is the connection with the Deepdene land? It all looks vaguely familiar, is it Flanchford Rd bridge (near Leigh)? Because I went to school just up the road (100 yards) from there (if it is there) at Burys Court boarding school in the late 1970s. I remember the River Mole often flooding there sometimes to make the bridge and road impassable involving a long detour and delay to my returning to school from our home in Reigate at the beginning of terms :-)

Thanks for your info Tony. You are correct about that bridge (newly built one) Not linked with deepdene at all, although as you mentioned your old school, Burys Court, I can link that though to St Bartholomew's in Leigh, & Horley churches, & Broadoaks Manor in West Byfleet & Tottenham Hotspurs football ground. Enjoy exploring, including local/related history, bit of a detour, much like a flooded bridge! think you'll like the bridge maintenance sign? linked below.

@@AbandonedUK Very interesting & useful info thanks, yes I love the tons of photos of the Flanchford Rd bridge before & after you have linked, new bridge no character like the old one I knew but MUCH more practical- a bit wider and much more flood / damage resilient together with (I think) their raising of the approach roads. Yes I get your association of Burys Court with Broadoaks Manor you have also linked- bought by the Charrington (brewing) family 1911 who also built Burys Court, great photos there too I will look through slowly and also re other local buildings. Thanks also for your other reply on the Lolas's house explore re Arthur's house being posted on youtube as 'sleepy hollow' as Adam Mark & Dave from AWE & 'The ghost trail series- I will look into that. Keep up the great work but take care and stay safe!

Tony - Kuoni moved out of those offices in about 2016 and they are being converted into flats now. (Sad times - we had some great parties in the grounds of that office when I worked there in 2004-7!)

I always hate it when I see people's trash in a location. Like when you entered the tunnel the coffee cup lid and buckets made me mad. It's not that hard to take your trash with you.

Seems like the grandson ruined it. Life of decadence springs to mind. Hope would surely turn in his mausoleum, is his spirit at peace knowing everything he created was destroyed after his death? Interesting to note that Thomas Hope was Dutch (Van der Hoeve) and acquired this seat or land as a result of his marriage to Louisa de la Poer Beresford in 1806. All bizarre, interesting walk.
