Cool Idea! Alternate perspective: Tyrion suggests that dragons may be more intelligent than humans. It may be interesting to consider Aemond as a means to Vhagar's mysterious ends. She was old, lumbering, and perhaps lonely (due to her being heard "crying" when she was riderless prior to Laena). Maybe she chose Aemond as a means to find purpose and go out on a high note. In short, it doesn't matter if Aemond is worthy, just that he is useful.

Aemond suffered greatly. Remember that he is a child who was maimed. He deserved to get slapped around a little for having a mouth, but he in no way deserved to get maimed for life over it. And basically Dragons choose whoever they want, you don’t choose a dragon. They choose you. There’s no way to know that Raena would have been chosen. Personally I think a lot of people are missing the point that it’s not Aemond claiming Vhagar that makes him viewed in a bad light. But the matter of him sneaking out in the dead of night of Laena’s funeral to claim her dragon. A dragon is not a slave and a dragon chooses who it wants but we forget that dragons have chosen multiple people to ride them. Meaning that the chances of Vhagar choosing Baela aren’t as slim as it is made out to be. Then to turn around and flaunt it after claiming it just adds insult to injury and invites what happened to him.
Him claiming Vhagar in the night of Laena's funeral isn't any worse than Rhaenyra and Daemon got together after the said funeral. And he was the only one who heard Vhagar's cried and reacted to it, I don't think the circumstances surrounding his claim shouldn't be viewed as bad at all. The fight after that might be, but kids from both sides are in the wrong.

I just like to think that by Vhagar being originally Visenya's dragon, a badass rider who did tons of shit with her, she saw in Aemond more than enough potencial to do some shit before passing out of old age like Balerion. Gadly to see some people think the same
I think a lot of watchers have been looking at the idea of "stealing" Vhagar from the perspective of, well, Vhagar. Of course you could not make her do anything she did not want to do. But honestly it really is not about Vhagar, but rather her aspiring riders. It's an established tradition for Targaryens to ride the dragons of their deceased close relatives if they do not already have one. It would have been viewed as an expected next step, for Rhaena to at least attempt to master Vhagar, as it was her mother's own dragon. Aemond knew this, that is why he went in the night before the funeral was even finished. I think it may be a misconception that dragons will only approve of one rider in a generation. They will only have one rider at a time, but it is possible they might find multiple Targaryens worthy. That is when it becomes "first come first served." In this sense, Vhagar loved Laena. It is possible that Rhaena's egg did not hatch because she was destined for Vhagar, but whatever the case, given how much Vhagar cared for Laena, it is entirely possible, she would have allowed the very determined Rhaena to be her rider. In this sense, Rhaena, who should have been givent he chanse first as tradition dictated and may have been selected, would feel robbed by Aemond who rushed out in the middle of the night before the funeral was even finished. It makes him seem desperate and disrespectful-- not brave. Vhagar allowed it, but that does not discount the fact that he flouted tradition and propriety and stole his cousin's chance to have her own mother's dragon out from under her nose after being invited to the funeral. Only to then beat up two helpless girls and nearly murder the second in line to the iron throne. He's lucky he only lost an eye.
I think the best way to explain the use and decision to have the kids say someone "stole" vhagar is because that was all they could comprehend at that age.
I've been thinking about that a lot lately... How did Daemon feel at the end? That was his wife and his nephew. Even if he hated them or was just doing it cause it was his duty there's got to be some emotions involved... It also makes me wonder how Vhaegar felt... Going from flying peacefully side by side to being against eachother. I know they say she's unforgiving, but still...
The poor Dragon was morning A pretty traumatic lose, I imagine the Historical hereditary guardian feels a bit of confusion with it's sadness (& probably a little guilty 🤷) when I consider it was probably the first and only time a Rider has asked it to do that... I feel like when laena killed herself it created some sort of blood magic anomaly blood magic is how the valyrian sheep herders initially tamed dragons
Not sure I would agree that Alicent has a bond with any of her children. Even in the scene you picture she is at arms length and helena looks barely interested. We saw the differences in mothering in the first half of the series. Alicent barely held her children or bonded with them at all and as they get older she only looks at them as pawns to grant her house more power.
Well, Alicent's kids weren't exactly conceived with love. Compared to Rhaenyra who definitely had a warmer bond with both her kids and ther father. Alicent performed her duty and now expects her kids to do the same.

I’m also sad that Vhagar’s legacy is destroyed by him, and in her final days, she was used against small folk.
Thats not actually true. She accepted him. She is old but still capable of chosing who she wants to be her next rider. Plus Aemond is like Visenya in character (thus why he liked being bonded to him and accepted him. She stared at Aemond and then accepted). Vhagar is ruthless too in character. So basically they are made to be together. Laena's bravery is what made Vhagar bond with her (Laena was her shortest rider btw).

I agree the segment where Aemond claims Vhagar was great. I liked the dark shading in the moonlight unlike some critics. This episode made me angry at how Game of Thrones was bungled. I don't remember Jon Snow needing to bond with one of Daenerys' dragons. Seems like he just jumped on and went. They should have explored that more. In fact there didn't seem anything special about Daenerys riding any of her 3 dragons.
The girls assumed someone had stolen Vhagar because they did not believe Aemond was anywhere near her. They weren't saying Aemond stole her, even tho they essentially felt that way when they discovered it was him due to their perceived entitlement. They had no idea if Vhagar would have accepted any of them so it was just due to being upset their mom was dead more than really about Vhagar.
Vhagar just seems like she requires a high number of badges to control. In this case, the dragonrider must be particularly fierce and have martial prowess. I think each dragon embodies a certain ideaology, with each dragonrider having a similarity in personality. Nanny Vhagar is proud. Balerion represented the peaceful reign of House Targaryen, starting with Daenys the Dreamer with the dream to escape Valyria, and then Viscerys is Balerion's last rider, with no one claiming Balerion since the Dance of the Dragons began following Vizzy T's death.
Something tells me that it's not nearly as much that a rider claims a dragon as much as it's that the dragon claims a rider. It always seems like the rider is trying to prove to the dragon that they're worthy than vice-versa.
Vhagar was extremely 'old' when Aemond tried to claim her. She was one of Aegon the Conqueror's dragons and by the time of Dance of the Dragons, she was the largest and oldest dragon in Westeros. Most likely she was confused when Rhagar started to mount her, and she almost killed him. but Aemond knew the proper commands and was lucky that Vhagar responded as well as she did. I'm not sure that Baela wouldn't have been able to claim her after Aemond supposedly did, because Vhagar might have sensed that she was Laena's daughter.
She is not suffering from alzheimer's dood lol just because she is old doesn't mean she's not aware. I always said Vhagar likes her riders a bit crazy lol. Other than Laena, Visenya & Aemond are kinda mad.

Gadly to see some people think the same
Well Vhagar is a cougar dragon so it makes sense!
Dragon for an eye? He broke tradition? so what? Do they live in a moral world?
"You look like you'll take me to my death in battle"- Vhagar
She just wants a quick end at this point.
I think the best way to explain the use and decision to have the kids say someone "stole" vhagar is because that was all they could comprehend at that age.

I really wish they’d handled that better as well.
Good video- subscribed 👍
Thank you!
She is the reason why greens did so well in dance, old doesnt mean weak and confused when it comes to dragons... yes, she probably requires more rest but she's still a nuclear house and he dragon fire could melt stones.
Lame ass theory
You got that thousand good job yee 🤙💯
Thank you! :D
Rhaenyra was a harlot....a horrible queen with no right to rule.... I'm with the greens.....the show is biased.....rhaenyra didnt care about the people she wanted the throne because of her right....off.....the ending suits her.....the nerve of her and her little bastards.....the.endingnis fair.....i liked aemond very much....its like hes the son of daemon :)))
Same
Agreed that she is bad. But her folowers and her children r decent. As for the greens besides daeron younger aemond heleana no one is sane.
The greens were all basically Maegors and King Joffree’s
@@jeffreysamson5938 aemond was not insane....he wanted vengeance....i would do the same if someone took my eye after i showed them mercy from a fight they began....the rest i agree....insane
@@Jacaerys1 They weren’t, we see them young and they had nothing to do with Joffrey who was a sociopath from birth. Cercei admitted it, that compared to her other two children Joffrey was “problematic “
Wish we saw examples of dragons rejecting new riders in the show to make it look like it's more than just walking up to a dragon and mounting it.
Agreed. We may see that in the future!
There was nothing special to him by then. Vaghar was just like “What’s the fucking point anymore?”
I’d disagree! Think there was definitely a look of respect there.
@@QuinnTheGM I think he means that for Vhagar there was nothing special to live for until Aemond arrived, lol
@@QuinnTheGM kid got lucky 👁
@@QuinnTheGM there was doubt and then a moment of “ehh, I’ll bite” when he gave her the flight command.
Loved your insight
He chose him because the dragon doesn't like being rode by stupid people.
What?
@@QuinnTheGM He chose Aemond and not the Valyrions because the Valyrions od this show are some of the stupidest characters in the series. They make some terrible decisions later on.
I disagree, Corlys is one of the best decision makers throughout the dance!
@@QuinnTheGM Corlys is not a dragonrider….
@@leykimayri But he's a Velaryion? Which the guy said are stupid?
Good vid . Subscribed
Thank you!
One sub closer
children taking after their mothers is a common theme in The Song, whether it be physical or behavioral traits.
because they both share the same destiny 🗡+👁.
😉
@Supriya Mukherjee caraxes, does die but daemon's body was never found and the legend has it that he survived and lived out the rest of his days.
@@TheRoguePrince0 yea I heard this & thought it was kinda dumb . But thinking about it , Daemon is GGRM fav Targaryen .
@@TheRoguePrince0 When someone’s body is missing they are presumed legally dead. Daemon died, end of story. Besides, nobody would survive that fall.
@@leykimayri Eh not really likely but not impossible. After all there was a lot of displacement into the water BEFORE Daemon would hit (being the bodies of Aemond, Caraxes, and Vhagar) so its kinda like dropping a hammer before you jump off a really high height into the water. With the surface tension broken its much much safer.
i bet this video has really shocked you, its trending over 60k views your biggest so far and i bet when you got 24k off your helaena video you got excited. Keep up the videos your channel will soon take off, i will subscribe.
It really did! Thank you!
@@QuinnTheGM will be nice to see how you grow the channel, try not to lock yourself into one subject as it means your channels life is tied to the show.
