Much love to HCC788. Congrats on the milestone! I'm sorry I was not able to send a video clip in the interval. Things got crazy around here. Regardless of the timing kerfuffle, you'll always have my support, man. - Michael
Your story about finding that review when you were in a bad place really hits home for me. I was in a major depression, none of my antidepressants were working, nothing seemed to help. I know this might sound stupid, but I was screaming inside for someone to notice and just let me know they cared, yet I wasn't going to say anything to anyone because in my mind at the time, if they really cared, they'd notice. (I realize now that I should've said something to someone but I wasn't in the right frame of mind during that time.) I got on TH-cam, watched a few videos that didn't help at all when in the sidebar I saw a video by some guy named HoodedCobraCommander788 that had a review of one (well, two technically) my favorite action figures of all time, a set that I can recall perfectly getting with my Grandma way back in those bygone years of 1985. I clicked on that review of Tomax and Xamot and was transported back to that summer day in Walmart all those years ago. More importantly, I felt something happen. I felt what seemed to be the clouds hanging over me lift a little, I was feeling something I hadn't felt in a long time, I was feeling joy. I watched more and more of your videos, each time being taken back to moments in my life, some benign and some life changing (such as when I was 9 and assembling the Joe VTOL at my Grandmother's house when my Dad called from work with the news that I was finally going to be a brother). Please don't take this the wrong way because I mean it with all the respect in the world, but I realized that if something as simple as watching someone review 30+ year old action figures can bring me happiness in those dark times imagine all the other good things in life there are to look forward to. I'm not sure why but within days my antidepressants were working again, my demeanor had done a complete 180 and I was looking forward to life in general for the first time in a long time. I know I came late to the party only discovering you late last year, but I am in your debt. It's not hyperbole for me to tell you that you played a role in saving my life because I was close to that ledge before I found that one bright spot that illuminated everything else. Thank you, Sir. Not just for the above reasons, but also for being who you are, your honesty and compassion are palpable through your videos. Congratulations on 5 years and here's to as many more as you would like. I, Sir, will be here for the ride alongside you. COBRA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even still to this day these toy's are iconic, So happy to say I now own this Sears exclusive Vamp. Such a great detailed video of a toy I finally got in my hands in 2023. Yo Joe! Thanks for the vid.
i never had the VAMP/ HAL combo but dreamed of it over & again after seeing it in action in GIJoe #1 and looking at it in the Sears catalog and the GI Joe pamphlet insert.
5 years... Lot of great reviews and funny and fun moments. To the next 5 years and onward, Happy 5th anniversary HCC788 Bryan! Its a great honor to call you a friend may you have more great reviews and fun along new friends and as well being company of old good friends as well!
Thank you for five years of great content. I've always loved G.I. Joe for years. I started recollecting when the 25th anniversary were coming out. As I was looking for Joe videos on TH-cam; I stumbled upon your channel. I absolutely love your honesty about the figures and vehicles that you review. Your show was part of the reason I started to go back the vintage line and I'm glad that I have. Thanks again for this channel and many more years of success!!
Thank you for doing this show. I know you get many thank you's but this one is from the kid in me. Thank you for showing me the GI JOE that I missed after I hung up my Red & Blue lasers in 1987 in 1987 . Thank you HCC 788
Congrats on 5 years of education and entertainment of GI Joe. I would like to thank you for your time that you have put into every video. I can't wait for the next five years. COBRA!
Most of my JOES and COBRAS were lost or destroyed over the years from moving around. What I had left I sold them to a co-worker and I now regret doing that. I did buy some of the new release and I'm really not that happy with them. I was hoping they would be the same just better made. Anyway I love your channel keep on going. YOOOOOO JOE!
Congrats on 5 years, HCC788. That is an amazing milestone. I follow mostly firearms and outdoors channels, and there are videos in my personal playlists from channels that didn't last more than a couple years. Outstanding work, sir, thanks for helping us remember a part of our childhoods. VAMP Mk1 retail version was my first Joe toy, and I remember well the issue of the comic where Clutch revealed the cannon remote. I believe his quote was something like "How did you guys think I aimed them without touching them?"
Donno if you'll read this. happy anniversary HCC788. i can't remember when i started watching you. i am just happy i am still watching you though and plan to with the videos that you will make. you brought back so many memories of all i had growing up. keep it up and have a good one. great set for the anniversary
Congrats Hoodie on 5 years anniversary and over 8000 subscribers! I always watch your show when feel down and wanting to remember the good old days of the 80's with GI Joe. Always a fan!!
hey man did you do one of these for the rolling base? I can't remember what it was called but it had a sound pack you could click into the base and play a few different sounds. I can't remember what the sounds were either. Thanks
I love your videos HC, thank you for all you do. I roughly found out about you and Formbx at the same time while collecting Modern Joe that started off in the 25th Anniversary. I collect Modern figs and older vehicles. The collection is massive now! Sometimes I think about having my own channel, but having the time is a factor. Love what you do!
To me it doesn't matter who goes into the hal or the vamp because they're just toys and it doesn't matter if you stick a Cobra action figure in the GI Joe one or GI Joe one in the Cobra one. It is all fantasy and doesn't have to be related to the real world it's just a cartoon and a toy line so to me it doesn't matter who gets in a vehicle or what year it came from they're all just toys. On that note I love GI Joe action figures and vehicles and the cartoons and the comic books. It's just that realism never mattered to me as a kid and it still doesn't as an adult fantasy is a lot better than the real world.
Congrats on five years! Great job! GI Joe is making a comeback this year, I wonder what your feelings are about the rumored retro line of ARAH. Thanks for keeping our childhoods alive
What we would like to know is how you felt about the movies? not sure Hollywood understands having comedians in what's supposed to be based on a real world representation of events could actually capture every audience attention. Thanks for the VDO A-SOME.)
I love the joy you so obviously find in doing these videos and the love and support your family shows you. That's very special. Thank you for sharing your joy with us. Congratulations on 5 years down and good luck in those to come.
+HoodedCobraCommander788 You left out the other 1984 Sears exclusive, the Toss 'n Cross bridge layer with Tollbooth. It was released first only at Sears later in the year before being released widely with the 1985 lineup. Tollbooth's lack of a ball joint neck was a clue to his early design for the 1985 line (or maybe late release for it's intended 1984 line inclusion). I remember seeing both the Vamp & HAL along with the Toss 'n Cross at my local Sears in 1984.
Congrats on 5 years! I remember getting a VAMP and my younger brother getting the HAL for Christmas 1982. My parents thought it would get my brother and I to play together more. Yeah, my VAMP didn't need to tow his cannon anywhere if I didn't want to. Still love that distinctive squeal of the wheels. Susan is a real treasure. We guys with the understanding wives are the lucky ones!
Happy 5 year anniversary Bryan! I'm a casual Joe fan, but you've taught me such a great deal and have given me a much deeper appreciation and understanding of the line and comics. Thank you and cheers!
I found you,and formbx 2 1/2 years ago as I was going thru the hardships of life.Ever since then I watch you every Sunday, and I’ve bought my 1st figure in 27 yrs🤦🏼♂️ Thanks for everything hoodie.
ERRATA: the 1983 versions of Grand Slam were v 1.5 and v2, not v2 and v3.
Much love to HCC788. Congrats on the milestone! I'm sorry I was not able to send a video clip in the interval. Things got crazy around here. Regardless of the timing kerfuffle, you'll always have my support, man. - Michael
That intro is hilarious. Delivery, timing, editing - just fantastic. Congratulations on your impressive accomplishment.

Thanks for the chance to participate. Sorry, I couldn't do anything more elaborate, but I was away from home.
On the subject of Depresson Hcc788, you're not alone. I deal with it myself and your videos help me cope.
Happy anniversary. Great video and I enjoyed hearing your story at the beginning. Looking forward to another 5 years.
Been with you since the beginning and watching this channel grow has been a privilege. Onward and upward!

Dude! You definitely deserve more than 8K subs. Your enthusiasm is contagious and really takes me back to a simpler time. Keep on plugging bro👍🏾
Congratulations on five years of awesome video
the push bar on the no shovel variant looks like it has a black or gray push bar instead of green as another distinguishing characteristic
They didn't even fix the low roll cage crossbar for the updated version in the 00s which seemed weird to me.
Happy anniversary! I joined around 2 years ago and things have only gotten better. Here's to another 10 years.
Congratulations on 5 years and 8k subscribers. So many of us are delighted to see your videos every week.
Love the love the comedy skit that's me and my wife too😂
hey man did you do one of these for the rolling base? I can't remember what it was called but it had a sound pack you could click into the base and play a few different sounds. I can't remember what the sounds were either. Thanks
Wow, 5 years!!! Congrats! Great anniversary vid!
53:39 "There I am Gary, there I am!".
Happy Anniversary HCC788! Hope for a nice time with your videos in the next 5 years!
on the no shovel one I noticed the push bar on the front is black.. are they all like that or is it sort of a hit miss on the color of that?
Congratulations, HoodyCoCo
This video hits home
Congrats on five years!
I love your videos HC, thank you for all you do. I roughly found out about you and Formbx at the same time while collecting Modern Joe that started off in the 25th Anniversary. 0:11 when I show my mom a new toy I want for my birthday
And also happy Easter to everybody

What was with that dark gray brush bar on one of your VAMPs? I don't think I heard an explanation for it.
Congrats on five years! Great job! GI Joe is making a comeback this year, I wonder what your feelings are about the rumored retro line of ARAH. Thanks for keeping our childhoods alive
Great review and congrats on 5 great years!

This is great stuff and way too get personal at the beginning. I am glad you are in a better place in so many ways.
