I need a timer based switch, where the light will attract bad insects and gets killed between 6:00PM to 11:00PM which will help in agriculture. After 11:00PM it has to switch off because after 11:00PM Good insects come out and help the crop to grow and obtain good results for the crops.
I made this using a 2N2222 transistor. What's the purpose of the 4.7k ohm resistor? And how would changing its value up/down affect the circuit or the lights? Good content. Thanks for posting.

When using a pnp -transistor like the BC327 you won't need a diode anymore but the schematics is a bit different then. Using a voltage with a potentiometer at the base of the transistor you can adjust the threshold when the light turns on or off.

How to add a single pole double throw switch in this circuit so that at day time due to sunlight the li-ion battery can get charged and during evening when there is no sun light the switch can be operated to battery for powering the Led. Please explain.
