great video, one idea... maybe is easy to understand if you guys can use the steering camera on the head of the driver, so the view should be exactly the same from the driver position. cheers
the best video I've ever seen for reversing dolly trailer
Something that helps me mentally is, where as reversing an artic the rear wheels of the tractor are like the front wheels of a rigid lorry and so you are steering the tractor unit to steer those front wheels, but when reversing a truck and trailer, the rear wheels of the truck are like the front wheels of a tractor unit and the front wheels of the trailer (even if it’s a double axle then both axles) represent the rear wheels of the tractor unit.
That sounds more complicated than it is, just ponder it for a minute and it will click, I found this definitely helped going from an artic to a “tag and drag” as you can see that the artic reversing principles still apply, it’s just that there’s another step, rather than thinking that all you know about artic reversing is out the window.

Well explained. It took me a while to learn this. I found it is best to look at three things. 1. The side of the truck in relation to the trailer. If you want to back of the trailer to go to the right you want to "show" the front left corner of the trailer. 2. The angle of the front axle of the trailer, this will determine in which direction the trailer will travel. 3. The steering wheel angle. Remember it will take a while for the trailer to react.
I've started trucking this week, and I did everything contrary to what you said, I did big changes, couldn't realy do what I was doing, but next week gonna be different, cos of your 3 "easy follow" rules, so I'm realy thankful for your videos! (sorry for my English knowledge)
Thanks for your video. I built a dog trailer for my utility and used your video to learn how to do it. It took me 20 minutes to back back 100 metres. After 9 months of practice I can put that trailer anywhere I want.

When the truck and trailer are dead straight left to go left and right to go right but follow the front axle of the trailer once you see it turning left you turn right then chase the dolly to bring it back to straight turn left amd right when going straught to keep it straight follow the dolly (front axle) of trailer little movements

I really appreciate the effort you are putting into this. But I have to share my thoughts, as a novice learner. If this was a video, where you had to show, that you understand the dynamics of backing up a truck with a trailer - then it's very good. But. There are plenty of things one needs to reverse in ones head. Showing everything in the opposite direction than what you experience as the driver doesn't help. The video would be much more helpful if you where to simulate a first person experience. Eg. with a head mounted camera, and the side mirrors as an overlay in each top corner. I'm constantly having to look at the steering wheel cam, and reverse what's happening... But thanks 🙂

Ok so i have a question does it make a difference when the ring like the thing that connects with the truck so like does it make a diffference when the ring is connected with the first wheels because you have trailers where all the wheels are always positioned the same but you have also those trailers with 4 wheels or more and with those sometimes the first wheels turn to

Drive regular semi for years in the U S. You make it look way easey. I never got good at a truck trailer The tongue on the dolly can. Go sideways real quick if your not careful
Good video. But I disagree on one thing.
2. Rule only applies when reserving straight or small curve.
A friend of mine has been working in New Zealand for a month and now the company is unable to provide work, what should he do? Company ask him to pine job another place.
Imagine you're standing on the front of the trailer with a steering wheel. Those wheels will do what you do with your steering wheel when reversing
