Imagine being able to play project zomboid roleplaying as a true nomad, being able to have an entire playthrough between point A and B, without backtracking, just moving across the states like in the book The Road, by Cormac McCarthy. That would be sick.
Really hope they could somehow add trains to the game at some point. With the map so big, I want to play like I'm in metro exodus, truly living nomadically.
That would be cool but I feel like trains would require so much actual upkeep and materials and are so complex and variable that they would either be oversimplified from realism (which is not proper zomboid) or they would take a whole bunch of effort and time and expertise to implement and people likely would rarely use them due to the materials and upkeep required.
@@thesysop4998, they could go the alternative route like the Metro series did and jury rig a bunch of scrap-welded, impromptu rail cars. Think handcars or engine powered micro rail cars, i.e what they have in Metro. Makes it viable for the game and a goal to reach on the tech tree.
This game is a masterpiece. From the passionate dev team to the insanely well done ambience, its all done right. Never had a game immerse me like zomboid did. Literally sitting in a 3 story apartment munching away on chips while I hear the snapping of wood beneath me. Its magnificent.

@@AmILateToTheParty I should also add that you're best off NOT spawning on a random part of the map - you'll likely end up in an unfinished, VERY remote part of the map with basically nothing in terms of supplies I tried it once. Spawned on a farm so far away from an built-up area, that even noclipping around for 20 irl minutes just led me to more fields and country roads
I already have pretty much all the compatible map mods that you can get on my playthrough that don't conflict with each other to expand the map a big chunk with more towns and stuff. My map right now is pretty much full with stuff and places to explore, Hopefully they get them all fixed that are affected by the new map update in 42 soon after it rolls out.
Ngl i wish there is more abandoned military things like FOBs or Evacuation sites, or convoys. It just makes me want to know how the military handle things before they left

Bruh why does this sound like those ads that you see on obscure tv channels when staying in a hotel. It becomes surreal if you watch or listen to it on repeat.
It’d be cool if there was an underground military base, like deep in the forest, a nearly impossible to get to little stairwell that leads underground, with booby traps hidden around it and it infested with military zombies like the mall, and at the very end, if you manage to fight through the 1000+ zombies, you get a mini gun
The cool thing is that you can literally survive in just half of one of these towns for quite a long time therefore you could spend a long time discovering new areas and during that long time the devs can be making it bigger
When moving my group to a new city we accidentally started driving into this area and we only realized it because the road suddenly just became a long grey rectangle and everything just suddenly felt wrong
We need a youtuber to start the game with 20 people and whenever someone dies it he gets kicked out of the group no respawn etc It would be hella fun to wacth
there is a mod that has this and it would be a really good basegame feature, expanded air events, maybe like there could be a passenger plane crash site with a bunch of zombies and if you got close enough to the area where the plane crash is, it would play a plane crash sound effect and maybe a big shadow over where your player is
Nice, now I can stay confined to my same farmhouse because my game is in an endless frozen hell of a winter so cold that leaving in a car for more than half a day is suicide.
As someone who lives in Kentucky, my guess is at least one of the map expansion areas from what i know of that area is going to be the state capitol of Frankfort as its in that general area on the map irl. But thats just a guess from me
A year later, but finally we are seeing some smoke signals that 42 will be soonish =D Can't wait to check out these new areas. may find a better base location then my current happy spot in the city.
Project Zombpid is one of those games for me where it seems a lot more fun to watch somebody else play it than even try to pick it up myself. I look forward to the TH-cam videos i volving the new sections.😊

Every developer has their area, you can't expect UI designers or map designers to work on anything involving programming.

Tons if issues with npc will arrive as well, esp if they added quests or something similar, making it more mmorpg-ish and less zombie survival. Theoretically if 2 players were present at Louisville and another was in the new map expansion they probably wouldn’t know of each others existence beyond the fact that they joined
I hope Indy Stone starts trickling out updates as the used to instead of taking the market stance of waiting until it's all done. Playing unstable versions was part of what made Zombiid great.

Meanwhile I've barely finished exploring Riverside and only just started exploring RoseWood. I tried walking between the two because I spawned away from my sister and that took ages (NEVER AGAIN). I wonder how many road trips is it gonna take to go over all these new maps.
Or maybe substantial bigger but I doubt all of those cells will have the same density as Louisville cells. Also the game doesn’t really need a expansion I feel like the games big enough already, and mods will satisfy your urge for more areas. I feel like a better focus would be towards npc’s and end game stuff. Once you get sustainable there’s not really anything to do accept explore and why explore a bunch of homes that are for the most part the same just to find loot you don’t really need. It would be cool if you could like recruit a bunch of npc and create a colony and maybe have a quest path that allows you get a scientist npc that after finding him the proper supplies and waiting a certain amount of time could make a cure to beat the game. There’s a ton of cool stuff they could do that isn’t wasting a ton of time handcrafting another section to the map that may not even be a starting area so by the time you get there you probably don’t need the loot.
One thing i hope happens is some new cars, paint jobs for them, and for EVERY car after a certain amount of time will rust and eventually turn into their "Burned out/Wrecked" variant. Maybe the ability to build spike pits or more explorable undergrounds like sewers or a jail under a courthouse, Ect. Cant wait to see npc humans and animals.
In build 42 cell size will change from 10x10 to 8x8 so Louisville added the 87,5 build 42 cells and it will add 275,2 build 41 cells. Still update will add 5 times size of area than Louiville update.

And yet, no fort knox. I did that mod on the steam workshop, but when I did, it was temporary: let’s give the community a sort of “Fort Knox” while devs release the real version, but years have passed and still nothing.

What is taking so long? These guys roll out new builds slower than any other game that I know of. Especially from a studio who's made BANK from an early access game.
Neet update. Better than nothing, but i dont think this game gets another new wave of players until they add npcs. I think sales would massively increase. Not many games out there that are multiplayer with the zomboid style and have npcs events, traders and etc.

Um, the map's not big enough to make railroads worth it. On top of that, the game's engine doesn't work like that.

There is so much extra areas you can get through mods, the default area is also huge. I am not sure this is really what the game needs as a priortiy.
I'm so looking forward for trying an RV nomad survival run once the new build releases.
