    As intermediate drummer, my set is filled with evans 360 heads. Very nice to see this product made in the USA, over made in China.
    I never tought it was this complicated for items that give me so much simple pleasure. This visit is highly appreciated and very welcome in term of seing the faces of the people that are helping me built some fun time.
    Music is great, thanks in part to evans, and of course Drumeo. Thanks for this report.

    Will there come a day when we can recycle old heads?

    • @DrewKane
      @DrewKane 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      I recycle heads by using them for o-rings and other dampening solutions when recording. I've cut out a 14" head and used it to muffle a 12" drum, for example. I also used spray adhesive and placed a padding over my kick drum head once, using a dot I cut out of a 12" head.

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Drew Kane That’s a good idea. I make 4” impact patches for my bass drums and adhere them using three small pieces of clear packing tape. But some 3M spray adhesive would work well in that application I would think.

    i've been using Evan drum heads for 15 years now. The EC2 SST are particularly good for the sound that I want. Then, for my bass drum I use the EQ3. I have yet to destroy any of the heads. One point I was using the same the same heads for three years, and they still sounded really good. Probably will be staying with this configuration for the rest of my life.

    Very interesting vid. Remo and Acquarian are cool....but I have had the most success with Evans. First Evans head I ever got was an EQ3 22 inch Kick Batter. Was blown away. Now I am into snare and Tom batters....and love all the choices. Evans also fits my Vintage drums with ease. I'm pretty sure I'm an Evans guy!

    • @JJsiN84

  • @danlc95

    This was awesome!
    I'd love to have heard and seen what the original shop was like when D'Addario took over in 1995.
    I was using the original Evans heads from 1991 - 1995 basically the entire span of high school.
    I was the only drummer in the area using Evans on my drums, and I was obsessed with tuning - they always sounded fantastic.
    I've been getting together with my old band from those days and I'm getting the itch to "get the old gang back together" with a set of Evans heads.
    This time around I want to use the EC2 over Resonant clear. I used to use the Rock Glass over that same Resonant and I LOVED them. The EC2 was the head style I always wanted them to make back then.

  • @No_Transitory

    I love Evans heads... i use the EC2 batters and EC reso's for toms... the bass i use EMAD2 and a black reso bass head. I use to play remo... and i still use remo on my snares but for bass and toms... nothing but Evans as i think they are the best. If i find a good Evans snare batter/reso combo that gives me the deep sound (like the evans hybrid with a evans 500 reso) id go for those.. but the hybrid is very expensive considering ive got 9 drums that use evans and a snare that uses remo. Thats the sad thing about adding toms or another bass drum. The more drums you have... the more tuning you have to do. The money spent on drum heads can get expensive. Although im not Travis Barker and dont beat my drums like a red headed step child. I love his style of playing but without the help of his sound engineers i think his set (aside from cymbals) would sound choked as he smashes the hell out of them. Theres no reason to have blood on your drum heads or keep putting sticks through the head. When i heard they change heads every day... and sometimes cymbals too. I thought to myself "what the hell is he doing to that poor drum set." Luckily dude has a small kit. Couldnt imagine what Terry Bozio pays to replace his kits drum heads lol

      megadrummer3 old rumors say it comes from Dupont were Aquarian and Remo also get theirs.

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      megadrummer3 DuPont is the most likely. Evans....not so sure. Many drum shop owners in the know say it comes from China. But presently they might use the DuPont film for certain drum heads since they have such a wide array of models.

    • @danlc95
      @danlc95 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some film though possibly manufactured by the same supplier, are proprietary formulas.
      From what I understand, Remo and Aquarian utilize films exclusive to themselves, and are not sold to competing drum head makers.
      For instance, Evans can't go to DuPont and order rolls of Mylar exclusive to Remo or Aquarian, and vice versa.

    • @dressedtosmellgood
      @dressedtosmellgood 5 ปีที่แล้ว

My first 14" G2 tom head had glue between the two plys. This never happened to me with remo. Maybe dent comes from the Level 360 because it has an edge but maybe not. Because of experiences like this I'm a remo player. Never had a problem with their heads
