This is so sad to see another Racing track demolished. I grew up here and i will never forget the memories this pace gave me and my family. RIP Oran park :-(
That was really one of the most distressing video's I've seen. I got my CAMS Licence there many moons ago (Which included a 5 lap "traffic exercise" RACE) & had so many fond memories of this track. The Topography, how it flowed left and right and witnessing some awesome races. Some of "my" history is gone. "Our" History is gone. All of us are poorer for it's demise.
Ironically I now live at Oran Pk and I certainly wish the tracks were still there (as well as Amaroo) I spent six years after it's closure doing track days at Eastern Ck (I did live only 15 minutes from the track) and few at Phillip Island. Many friends raced there but sadly I never had the chance, I was riding Harleys up till that time and never gave riding track or even racing a thought, I look back and think 'what an idiot' I was as the track work I've done is without a doubt the most fun I've ever had on a motorcycle... No track or sports bike now (I do have a tourer that I ride like one... forever the hooligan) Eastern Ck got boring, Wakefield wasn't much interest and a jaunt to Phillip Island for a few track days doesn't leave much change from $2,000 plus the weather is a lucky dip: driving 1,000klm each way with fingers crossed I was always lucky. It's obvious N.S.W. doesn't like any type of motor enthusiast, they've closed down more race tracks than I knew existed and are forever changing the laws regarding modified and self constructed vehicles making the cost to engineer one ridiculous, not to mention the hoops you have to jump through even with idiotic things like lights being a poofteenth too high/low/back etc. Yes it's all about the money... I recall the sand dunes at Kurnel, at times the road would be covered: they stopped us riding and driving on them under the pretense of preserving them, now they're all but gone: mined from the inside out, just north of Wanda is housing, further along it's land fill and also mining, the small wash area that was in the middle in the 70's is now huge and being filled, it will all eventually be subdivided and be a very expensive housing estate. I drove tippers and have tipped and also loaded there, from what I recall as a kid to what it is now made me sad, angry and sick to the stomach... All the old industry around the harbour is mostly gone now as well and is much the same, the factories originally relied on the waterways to transport imported and exported goods, they were to be demolished and the foreshores were supposed to be made public land, parks etc, there might be a few but mostly I see what is expensive apartments and wonder who can afford them, it's certainly not the average Aussie.
@lunsmann The owner had no choice, they (the government) weren't going to let it operate as a track because of noise restrictions, so the only alternative was to close and sell.
Spent so many days there on flags for motorcycle races in all weather. Eventually put a little 125 around there as fast as I could get it to go. Never did much good but had a lot of fun. When Amaroo Park shut the PCRA NSW held the last official road races there and I worked the grid start/finish so I dropped the last chequered flag on a bike there.
I still can't believe it, can't accept the overpopulation destroying our fantastic race tracks. Rode the last meeting there and wont forget the place. Mid week practice in the 80s, $10, cars and bikes on track at once! Thanks for the video.
I use to race here back in 2001 I have so many photos n memory's of how the race track use to be... If anyone would like photos of me or the track inbox me on Facebook... Cameron mcdonall.. profile pic is a orangutan my dad as a cover photo....
world super bike championship Oran park 1988 Mick Doohan and Michael Doesan blow the factory Bimota Team away on a Yamaha RZ500,I was there.Good times.I have the T shirt to prove it.
so many family memories turned to dust , just like Amaroo , catalina, hume weir
catalina is still there, just can't drive on it anymore
and they wonder why guys keep racing on the streets....

Sadly, Sandown looks to suffer a similar fate to Oran Park. :(

Was an amazing circuit. Cant believe its gone
another track lost, thanks for the video

the Ozzy version of Brands Hatch, a tragic waste of an amazing circuit!...hard to watch, ughh!
We've lost an amazing race track to housing. Very sad :o(
Im glad I got to drive there before they closed it. It still sux!!
i raced there in the sixties and it was a great track with a double decker bus as the administration and compere area.
at least it’s on iRacing
I almost cried when i watched this , how can the government let some asshole tear it appart like that :( , so many good memories there :(
grew up at that track makes me very sad,had to watch.
Build up not out! We loose so much of historical Sydney.
WTF :( It's been demolished into nothing, it's all just dirt... Oran park was a great track & was loved by many. It's sad to seen it like this...
Such a shame.....so many memories. So sad to the two mounds with no Dunlop bridge joining them together...........:-(
That is depressing....
Will the developers name any streets after motor racing names or corners?
No they won.t because they couldn't give a fuck of all the legends who raced there.
That’s exactly what happened.
What a shame. It seems that every time any kind of race track closes it`s for housing.
Plenty of passing oppertunities now!!! :(
damn they took away our moto track for a damn housing estate :( but this is just too far
@blownhemi watch until the end, they turn around.
UK circuits missing out on lots of revenue during lockdown. Doesn't bode well...
Look out my friends your race tracks are also not safe from greedy developers
This was worse than seeing wonderland go
It just doesn't compute. What's the point? WHY?? The guy that sold the track needs his head read.
I find this so sad to watch
government chose money over history
Wrong way! Arrrrgggh! LOL

Doohan and Dowson did blow them away but they were riding locally built Yamaha FZ 750 superbikes.
