Thank you, this fixed my issue that I’ve been trying to resolve for so long, never thinking that it was a remote control issue when all along this was the issue. Who would have thought? I was cursing the tv because of the microphone not working and all the selections would lag terribly. Problem now resolved simply by unpairing and re-pairing the remote.
I tried following your steps in Settings, but your Sony TV is not the same as my Sony TV…So I just decided to do your last two (2) steps: Hold the Volume Down and Hold the Mic Button for 3 seconds until the light flashed and it worked! Thank you!!!

This also worked for me on my new TV. When I paired another bluetooth device it disconnected my remote. Reconnected solved why my remote would not be able to use voice commands on the remote. Thank you so much!

Tv doesn't support Bluetooth headphones and remote. When I connect my headphones. Remote switched to IR mode. Which is very slow and sometimes doesn't respond. Checked with a camera. Not all presses are registered, sometimes the IR doesn't light up. And sometimes one press to the right or left with get it stuck to scrolling right or left. Any ideas.

Is your TV tuned in to Aerial or Satellite channels? The TV button is configurable but I have never tried. I’m sure it mentions it in a first setup. You could do a factory reset.

@@markthegrea your 2016 TV won’t pair with the newer fully Bluetooth remotes. You need the squarer remote like my 2018 TV has. Make sure the remote you order states that it works with your TV.
No, some older Android TV’s were before Voice control was released. The infra red will work with most Sony TV’s in the last 5-6 years, maybe older as well

First thing I did was change the batteries and they does actually show a 100% reading on screen. I am going to try and contact Sony support in the morning. Sounds like the rubber membrane under the buttons is worn meaning that a button is constantly on. Probably needs to be taken apart to investigate

Try turning of Cec in the menu. It’s a way of controling external devices with your TV remote.

Factory resetting the TV, leave batteries out fo 10 minutes then replace with new alkaline batteries

I now have an LG oled. I would check the Sony forums. I rarely used Bluetooth audio with my Sony TV it’s not something I have heard of.

I have seen it on other Sony TV’s under settings. Probably a security feature after an update that needs permission.

Voice control is Bluetooth you may have a faulty infra red sensor, or it’s obscured. Try leaving the batteries out for 10 minutes then put new ones in
