Tip so you don’t have to eat up up your grinding stones too much. This may work especially well for shortening tiny screws.... I back a sheet of appropriate grit emory paper with duct tape and cut out 1.25” rounds. Poke a pin hole in the center and you’ll have a good sanding disk for your rotory tool. Sand object you want to remain flat nearer the hub of the disk as the edge tends to deform when you apply pressure.

Just watched Time Rider's restore. It came out great. I have two of these Dodges. One I'm leaving as-is but the other is missing it's boom and I'll be making it custom. Anyway... this came out great as well :)

@@MatchboxRestoration I just finished stripping my boom-less Dodge wrecker (I'll tell You... citrus stripprer took 12 hours to remove the paint. I'm going aircraft stripper from now on)

Thanks, Raymond! We do it for the fun. It's not that we are competing for "the best one". I think TimeRider delivers great work and it's really fun to publish some themed work together.
I have one of these trucks, and the body is loose on the frame. The paint and the stickers are hideous, so I'm thinking it might be time to do a restoration on it. I love it when you guys come together and work with each other to do these, you don't pick a winner or a loser, and there's not really any competition. Just the way to show off skills.

really nice. I have a problem - that I sometimes chip the paint when I put base parts back together with bodyshells. Do you ever have this problem? Perhaps I do not wait long enough for the paint to fully cure.
We all have that issue sometimes. It's a matter of the paint that we use. Acrylic paint chips off rather easily. Make sure you clean the casting enough before applying primer and paint.

Tu devrais essayer de trouver du primer Tamiya blanc. Ça ferait mieux sortir les couleurs pâles comme le jaune par exemple.
Il n' y a plus de primer blanc, donc j'ai acheté le gris pour maintenant. Merci!

Nick it loks great, I think you got the colors right on. Question do you polish your models before finishing them? I ask as I see some orange peel, and I think that might remove it. I even hate the orange peel on real cars.
Thanks Ken! No, I don't polish them. What should I use to polish them? I've tried very fine emery paper up to 12000 but there usually is not enough paint on the models to wet sand it like that.

Timerider messed his up by making it LOOK like it's been restored. You did a pretty good job with yours, but Marty did one of these that looked original.

I think you can get hung up on paint matching, the paint you are matching is not the original colour anyway as it is aged, furthermore you get different shades between the same models as well.
Yes, that's why I'm going for a color that comes close to the model I have in front of me that I like.

Ik gebruik HG Parket Polish. Werkt prima eigenlijk.
