I heard this song for the first time today. My husband is away working hard to provide for us more often than he's home. The way this song has reduced me to a puddle of tears in the middle of my kitchen floor while putting away groceries is incredibly telling of the way music can connect to our very souls and experiences. I'm so proud of him and grateful for his sacrifices so we can have that bigger home, but it's sure hard on the heart missing a big piece every day of the love that fills that home.

We were in a similar boat.. My husband took a big pay cut to come off the road.. He don't do as much as we used too.. But we still eat good and pay the bills. I'm Happier. I'm content. I love my little house with my wild growing garden. So happy!!!

I live in a town where many people have HUGE homes (including my son's girlfriend). I have a small house and always worried how my kids would feel. They really don't care. And when it is time for his friends to get together, they always choose my house. It's the memories made not the size of the house.
Have struggled with finances for pretty much the last 13 years weve had kids, but i wouldnt trade the bankruptcy or lower credit score for the time ive gotten to spend with the kids

As a financial planner, I get to interact with people and their financial goals. Whether they have $100,000 or 10 million, the happiest ones are always the content ones. I've met people at both ends of the spectrum that are miserable because they keep wanting more and are never, ever, satisfied. It's usually to the detriment of those closest to them and their own real health. I often talk about the lady at the well that Jesus met: there are so many things we try to fill up our lives with but never truly lead to fulfillment (It's empty, temporal satisfaction). Love this song!

In the event anybody missed it, and it seems from the comments that many have, the point is obviously being grateful for whatever it is you might have... down to nothing at all. Happiness is found in your heart and mind, not in the things that may or may not surround you.

This song makes me cry, it's a reminder of what is really important and it's not always a bigger house, though likely the people you call family, whether they're really family or a few really close friends.
I asked a realtor once why older couples buy huge houses.. her response TAXES.. he may or may not have wanted a bigger house. If you earn decent money you hv to spend it on the few things that are a tax deduction or hand it over every April 15th
After losing both parents in the past two years... I have found that happiness isn't found by keeping any of their possessions or belongings even the ones that are super sentimental. I don't long to have or hold their belongings, just them, and I know I will when it's my time to go. Family is everything to me, that's my happiness!

This song remind me of my brother. He wants a bigger house, a better life, a "high quality" life with expensive food, expensive clothes brands, expensive entertainments. And finally, he choose to leave me to have that life, he moved with his lover. But all I want is having good times with him, playing games together, watching movies together, talking sh*t things about another person lols, etc. All I want is just he staying with me. What I seek for is not in a bigger house. The lyrics of this song remind me so much about our story.

I had no idea this song had been out for a year or more. I've only heard it a couple of times on the radio and even then I would always catch it at the end of the song until yesterday. It came on the radio and I listened from the beginning to the end and all I can say is wow... definitely my new favorite song!
I didn't have much growing up but I never went about. I got married very young and struggled for a long time. We finally bought an older mobile home on some property when my children were young, my son was about five and my daughter was two. We raised our children in that house until my son was 19 and my daughter was 16 years old. I wished and wanted a bigger better nicer house for years and years and years. In 2009 myself and both of my kids were in a bad wreck and I thank God they were both okay. I was okay but I was left with a neurological disease that has no cure for the rest of my life. Afterwards there was a big lawsuit and I was awarded a good amount of money, enough to buy a brand new modular home. I picked out every single thing I wanted from 9 ft ceilings to the kind of flooring I wanted I designed my enormous walk-in closet so many upgrades and every extra add-on I could get even the way it was built with extra insulation the best windows you can get. I got the whole nine yards and then some! At that point I had been married foreclosed to 23 years and after getting my beautiful brand new home right before my 29th anniversary I found out my husband had been seeing someone else and he filed for a divorce. After raising our kids in that little old house happily for so many years I got what I wanted (a new house) lost my entire life of almost 33 years together in an instant. Both of my children are grown married with kids of their own and I sit here day after day all alone in this big beautiful house. I live everyday in pain with a chronic illness that requires so much medication just to be comfortable enough to get through every day and every night 😢 So be careful what you want and wish for because you might get it but not in the way you imagined! Especially when what you had was already enough.
And that my friends is what this song is all about. Don't take anything for granted and be grateful to our Heavenly Father for everything you have even if it's just a little old house, because that little old house was always filled with the most important things...love and happiness❤
