Same 4 the fact that Suicide Squad was his 1st film w/ the Joker; at least he saw Phoenix's Joker film.
Also, there are many Lantern Corps with colors representing different things:
- Green: Will
- Yellow: Fear
- Red: Rage
- Blue: Hope
- Orange: Greed
- Pink: Love
- Indigo: Compassion
- Black: Death
- White: Life
Shaq was the star of the superhero movie “Steel” because a group of studio executives said we needed a black guy to be a superhero and the 90’s studio executives only knew of two black people, and Harriet Tubman was unavailable.
To be fair, Shaq had the build to be John Henry Irons. Outside of being a genius engineer and metal worker, he was built like a brick shit house, so Shaq at least VISUALLY looked like he could be Steel. Problem being that Shaq can't play a muscular super-genius because he kinda has a problem coming off sounding like he knows what he's talking about. So it was hard to believe he knew what he's saying when he explained the tech in his hammer.
@@b3rz3rk3r9 Also didn't help that the writing refused to let you forget that you were looking at Shaq. That running gag about him not being able to make free throws was pure cringe, and making it important to a key scene in the climax only made the joke worse
20:11 Actually the thing with Clark Kent is that Clark slouches and is clumsy. It works so well that even Lex Luther refuses to believe that Reckless Clark is Superman. Also, he kind slightly vibrates his face so it can look different and his glasses gives off a harmless radiation that helps his face look different too.
Speaking of Superman & 2011, I really recommend All-Star Superman. A line I like from that movie is from Anthony LaPaglia's Lex Luthor when Clark Kent interviews Luthor during a prison riot, saying how, "I always liked you, Kent. You're humble, modest, comically unco-ordinated. *Human.* In short, you're everything *he's* not." You'd think for the smartest man, he'd put two and two together that it's *exactly* that act Superman is going for to blend in, even when Luthor isn't later powered by a dna formula that replicates Superman's powers.
In Deadpool: "Just don't make the super suit green... or animated."
In Deadpool 2: literally shoots himself in the head before he can read the script.
That joke in Deadpool 2 fucking killed me like I haven't laughed that hard in a theater since

There's actually a Lantern Corp for every color of the rainbow. As well as additional ones like white, black and ultraviolet (not to be confused with regular violet, known as the Star Sapphires). Green and Yellow get the most focus since... well... the hero is green and his most iconic villain is yellow.

13:31 There are multiple color lantern corps. Green (willpower), yellow (fear), red (rage), orange (greed), blue (hope), indigo (compassion), Star sapphire (love), black (death), and white (life) but the white lantern corp can use all the powers of the other lantern corps.
And I think there’s a new one who color is ultraviolet and it’s like a beta version of the white lantern corp.
There actually isn't a White Lantern Corps per se. The "White Lantern Corps", much like the Orange Lanterns, only consists of one person. In this case though, it's someone who can channel the energies of all the Lantern colors, and usually only makes an appearance in times of great catastrophe.
Technically the black corps can also use any/all rings, its just that the one member they tried to raise was both protected and refused the call, but, other, lesser members, could potentially be turned
I think part of the issue is that this was done during the Dark Movie era, when people forgot that you should be able to see what's happening on ths screen. And also DC forgetting that they're not Marvel and trying to do the "dark and gritty realism" thing the MCU was doing, even though the point of the DC comics universe is Hope and Fantasy.

If you haven't watched the Justice League animated series, @theduckgoesmoo, I recommend the episode, Legends. That's where Green Lantern, Jon Stewart, The Flash, Wally West, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter get stuck in an alternate dimension with heroes that are like ones from DC's Golden Age, including one called Green Guardsman, who looks so much like Alan Scott's Green Lantern.
- The movie that was so bad, Doug and his brother had to resort to drinking in order to get through it. Which you can see on their First Viewing vid
- The Blade movies (the 3rd movie also staring Ryan) reviews are worth checking out. An R rated movie that was out 18 years before Deadpool
- Green Lanter was planned to be in Zack Snyder's Justice League but Warner Brothers requested that scrapped do to this film. Supposedly they're making a tv series but that's been in development hell.
And then he has to watch their First Viewing of a Kangaroo Jack since they filmed them back to back.
There might be 3 new green lanterns in live action.
One in the CW, a Green Lantern show, and a new Superman movie

The fact that the Snyder Cut included a Green Lantern scene still blows my mind. The fact that they can even hint at a possible live action Green Lantern adaptation again feels impossible.

Tbf, that was in Josstice League too. In fact Josstice League let him use a Lantern Construct (It was a really bad CGI hammer), which I actually prefer to ZSJL just having him shoot lasers out of the ring.

I remember really liking this movie. I got the green lantern ring, a fridge magnet.
Mark Strong as Sinestro would've been perfect. I could totally buy him more as an antagonist than that cgi turd cloud; if you have Clancy Brown as an antagonist, why not make him Atrocitus, leader of the Red Lantern Corp, as the main antagonist? That would make more sense for Sinestro to turn to alternative source of power, like Fear, to combat Rage when Will isn't enough. How would harnessing Fear defeat *Parallax,* the cosmic embodiment of Fear?
Seriously, how can I do a better job of a Green Lantern story than Martin Campbell, the man who saved Zorro once and James Bond twice?
Oh lord, Clancy Brown as Atrocitus would have been terrifying. His gravely deep voice roaring out in fury with literal liquid rage spewing from his mouth would be so good.
Plus, I agree that Mark Strong as Sinestro would've been better as the antagonist of the film instead of just shoving Parallax in first go. Like, you're supposed to build up TO the gigantic Cthulhu that literally feeds on fear; not just come busting out the gates with it.
@@b3rz3rk3r9 Right, like maybe the intro could talk about an ongoing war between the Red and Green Lantern Corp, with Abin Sur vs Atrocitus. You end the backstory with how Abin Sur brought the war to a temporary truce, and then, you cut to some time later, Sinestro, originally a Green Lantern, and a squad of fellow brothers in arms, come across a planet where the mysterious new Yellow Power Battery is. Within that moment, Sinestro hears an malevolent voice whisper to him or telepathically, hinting at this voice being Parallax within the Battery, manipulating him. Sinestro listens and is enthralled, as he witnesses a yellow ring float from the Battery; he takes off his green ring and places it on, and thus, that end credit sequence of Sinestro in the Yellow Lantern suit would be more fitting, right before your title sequence.
Campbell himself admits the movie was a mistake. He said he had just kinda wanted to do a Superhero film and this was the first one they offered him, but that his lack of knowledge and passion for the material killed it. Martin Campbell did so well with Bond because he loves the character so much. Goldeneye was his love for all the old Bond movies, and Casino Royale came from his love of the original books. He was never able to root this film in any sort of love for the material.
@northwindkey If that's the case, what's his reasoning for *Legend* of Zorro not being as good as Mask of Zorro, which Campbell clearly did put enough passion, knowledge, and effort into the material for rebooting the character? I know he said "superhero movies ain't his cup of tea," but with excellent casting choices, dark visuals, and epic stunts the first movie gave us, how did things become so hackneyed and farcical like a cartoon? It's like going from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to Secret of the Ooze; not as funny, not as badass, and just making it by the skin on their fake muppet suit teeth. 😤🤷Seriously, what "superhero" movie was Campbell *expecting* to be offered? Green *Arrow?* Green *Hornet?* .....
🤔Actually, I'd much prefer a *Green Hornet* from Martin Campbell in 2011 than the one with Seth Rogen.

This is the movie where Ryan Reynolds ended up meeting his future wife. This was attempted to start a cinematic universe but due to this movie not doing well, they started again with Man of Steel.
It sucks because green lantern is my favorite DC hero and I am so worried about their next live action appearance
This movie was so bad that the actor playing green lantern who is currently playing deadpool made deadpool in the second movie of deadpool shoot himself in the head when he took the contract for this movie when he went back in time.
Remeber this review, it was fun one with Cosplay Deadpool.
You are right about them trying again, as there has been a reboot in production. However news about it is scarce and it may or may not have been canceled.

Dude, this was your first DC film? Man, I'm so sorry. Granted, I saw and liked it as a kid, but at least this wasn't my first. That would be the animated film, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

3:52 Sadly, yes, Shaquille O'Neal was in a superhero mivie, and for a hero that has serious promise. The hero in question was Steel, and to explain him: think what would happen if Iron Man was inspired by John Henry and Superman, down to using a soecially-engineered super hammer and a big S on his chestplate. He was created as one of four "replacement" supermen after the real Superman died fighting Doomsday. In fact, they recently animated that too, called "Reign of the Supermen."
What a shame that Steel had to drag down talents like Judd Nelson and Richard Roundtree along with Shaq.

Green Lantern may not be the Best Movie in the Story or CGI Aspect but that doesn’t mean everyone Should Crap on It, He missed Out many Important Things just to make His Point sound Better and to Crap on the Movie even More, Also Most People are just Sheep, They hear it’s Bad and then they just have to keep Crapping On it because they’ve heard from Other People, Especially the Guy who’s Reacting as he just Sucks Up to the Guy he’s Reacting to by Saying Random Crap about a Random Movie just to seem Educated and Logical when he’s Not. Overall, Green Lantern is a Mid Movie not a Bad Movie and not a Great Movie but a Mid Movie..

I would actually reccomend u watch that Mickey Mouse riff as well as the Casper one. There quicker than most NC vids so if u need to do something quicker u could do those
I know that he's said that this is the only DC movie seen before but seriously he needs to watch and react to the Dark Knight Trilogy. I'm pretty sure seeing Green Lantern but not The Dark Knight constitutes as a sin in Christianity, Judaism, Satanism, and Atheism. The only reason I'm unsure is because I don't think anyone else has done it and even then it's confirmed to be a sin in all but Judaism.
I'll be 100% honest, as bad as this movie is, and it's bad, really, REALLY bad, at least I can keep rewatching it and laugh at how bad it is.
The Flash movie, though? I haven't even fully watched that once, I can't stand it that much and that's only 70% because of Ezra Miller being in it.
Green Lantern I can at least enjoy because it's so bad.

You wanna see bad DC? Like, worse than Green Lantern? Watch Jonah Hex (2010). The choice for Josh Brolin as Jonah may have been good at the time, and some of the action is decent, but it ain't enough to fix the cliche writing, shameless Megan Fox flaunting, or story that feels like it was originally a sequel to Will Smith's Wild Wild West. Seriously, where the Hell did they get the idea to give Jonah Hex necromancy powers??
🤷😒But hey, what do you expect when you team up the guy who directed Free Birds with the guys who did the Crank films?
