Because adding in a card that only counters 1, MAYBE 2 classes _sometimes_ is going to be a great addition to your deck... This'll only be a thing if huge armor classes are all tier 1s and consistently get high armor and thats the main reason they win.

You can play around it by not playing any armor gain turn 4 on, which either a.)Makes a dead card in their hand. or b.)They play it early and you are free to get as much armor as you please. Do know that armor druid was a pretty big fucking problem, and they needed to solve it one way or another. If you hate this card THAT much, the same can basically be said about any other tech card. Imagine how horrible it is to get double hungry crabbed while playing murlocs, or getting Ooze'd while you're using Aluneth/Skull of the Manari. It's a pretty toxic idea for tech cards to exist, but yet here we are.

The decks that generate large amounts of armor also have tools that can deal with many different situations, ones that can destroy cheap decks. I’m glossing over many different situations, but I think the general concept holds true.

@@solardile7143 I think it's because it's very niche and they don't want you to feel bad that it's on an epic, so that when it is useful, it's really hard to get and for when it's bad, you feel like you have a shitty epic. Having it be a common is obviously so that people CAN use it when it's needed and don't sweat too much if it's not used in a meta. It goes against the rarity philosophy but it clearly does so in order to appease the players.
Embiggen could also be interesting in other Quest Druid: your 3 attack minions now progress the quest, and once you're finished everything is discounted to zero mana anyway.
Interesting idea, but I feel like it doesn't matter enough. The old druid quest failed because it was at odds with itself most of the time. You have to expend so many resources to complete it (5 minions before the 5/1 that spawned another 5/1) which meant chances are you weren't going to see results from it until later and even then it might only be 3 or so minions. Also if you are topdecking the minions you can potentially be floating the mana you "saved" anyway. Also the payoff isn't even good for combo-like decks since Dreampetal Florist is better and much more controlled (don't auto lose by drawing maly before playing barnabus).
@Micah I don't think he is entirely wrong tho. Most of the time if your opponent is playing a deck that gains that much amour, they can shrug it off and keep gaining amour after you play that card.

Will only deter Paladins from running Thekal if Platebreaker actually sees consistent play in the metagame. Even then, you'd still have to draw Thekal, and if you draw it late, combined with healing effects, Platebreaker won't be a priority for them to play until after they gain control of the board.

Wild is very fun and has a very high power level, but even in this format there should be some standards set. If you have a strategy thar generates infinite damage quite early, or that generates over 2000 armor, then there's a problem. Wild is a game mode like any other, therefore it deserves a bit of maintenance on occasion, when things get way too hectic.

Since I can remember, I've been running secret removal against those damn Ice Blocks, as well as occasional blowouts against secret decks. Armor spam can be gotten around more often than with a control deck, if said control deck is a bit more on the proactive side. My main deck is Krul highlander warlock, and control warrior decks are some of my better matchups. If they don't happen to draw every board wipe they have in the deck against each of my swarms of threats, then I pretty much won.

I think Regis made a good point that Embiggen might not be too crazy powerful in druid since it relies more so on spells than it does minions. Time will tell. I'm totally gonna try to build a zoo druid deck though lol.
I think that actually makes it even more powerful in a mid-range deck. It doesn't mess with your early spells that keep you going and powers up your mid-range. It's a complete non-argument that druid uses spells. That actually makes this better and more reliable.. Also this wouldn't be the current druid. It's be more similar to tempo druid of the past
@@nicholasjh1 definitely good in midrange. Oasis surger pretty much turns into quest reward for one extra mana and there are still a lot of good minions to work with in druid. The question would be do you also play quest if you want more top end cards like druid of the claw and such. Obviously a faster version wouldn't and would run all the zoo-ey cards like acorn bearer, but a midrange version MIGHT consider it. Especially since a slower version gets access to card draw like "3 mana" Nourish to draw the +2/+2 cards.

the one thing that i like about platebreaker is that, unlike other tech cards were, it's just a common card, so if the meta ever tends to be a big armor meta, new players won't have to spend 400 dust on it

I fundamentally disagree. Tech cards shouldn't be legendary. The only legendary tech card is Harrison Jones, and that just does the same effect as a basic card, just with an added bonus.
What if: wild deck with embiggen x 2 and a keleseth. +5/+5 to all the minions in your deck, AND if you have a bunch of 1/2 cost minions , you can play keleseth without having to technically meet his requirement if you play him after using the spells.
0 mana cards would be pretty insnae if you highroll on embiggens. turn one 3 mana 3.3 into the rest of the horrors of your deck. It does set you one card down, but i look at it like: I would use a coin in an agro deck to put out a 3.3 one turn one.

It’s genius design from a financial standpoint... Now that battlegrounds is out, a bunch of new players will be attracted to the game. This new expansion encourages them to spend money, and, because this expansion is so powerful, they can purchase only the newest packs and have a fighting chance against players who have been around for years. You can really tell they’re encouraging this new audience because of all the crazy effects they added, like a 12 hand size.
Also i think with platebreaker i think blizzard is being too direct. Maybe giving this a little less stats and saying “deal x amount of damage to the enemy hero (deals quadruple damage to armor)” (i havent taught about balancing the card so i shall leave the damage as an x)

No, people will run platebreaker. Some people just hate armor decks. They'll throw it in even if they play against warrior 5% of the time, and they'll be happy. Back in TGT, I played Millhouse in decks so I could get a small edge against zoo. Hate cards will always see some play.
I really don’t like the design on Platebreaker... You invested like 14 mana into armoring up over the course of the last few turns? Well too bad. This is weighted so hard towards some classes and is way more punishing than all the other disruption mechanics like weapon destruction, dirty rat and stuff like that.
at worse all they need to od is make it a bad 5 drop stat wise(5/5 is too good for a tech card where the power is all on the battlecry, making it a 4/4 or 3/3 would remvoe it from " auto include" unless the meta demands it), but the effect was long overdue ot curb the stupid high armor decks
The whole expansion seems like a huge troll from blizz to Trump. If he'd saw any of these cards in custom hs, he'd rate them 1 star for design and sometimes for balance too. "A Keleseth power level card! That would never be printed!", "Storm hammer for hunter?!", "This one even breaks the 10 card rule!", "Malygos? Too much going on! It's a common mistake for nubies to make this kind of cards..."
Embiggen is way better than Surrender to Madness. It's cheaper for one so you aren't going turn 3 pass and never getting board back like you would with surrender. Also, the downside is far less punishing. It only affects minions so your spells are still the same cost which can help somewhat keep up in tempo while you draw minions. Another thing is the downside ONLY affects the deck so if we are playing a game where you topdeck embiggen and surrender to madness on turn 4 or something and play both, the druid can still play oasis surger on 5 if it was in his hand meanwhile the priest can't play pretty much anything for the next few turns and just dies.
OKAY so lets talk embiggen. Soooo thia card I definately see could go in quest druid. Simply because of the quest requirement to begin with!! 4 turns with unspent mana. This is a 0 cost card that buffs your late game! A 0 mana do something "later" and in general if you have choose both, +2/2 means WAAAY more than in other minions. Isnt there a minion that gains charge from this? This makes a leroy with taunt for what. 5 mana? 4 mana? I may be wrong but that sounds very... Interesting

Then On turn 4 they play nozdormu the timeless and then they heal to full with nozari before you play plate breaker

But miracle nomi druid is pale compared with quest nomi druid, since they have a lot of value and card draw

If you can ramp by 1 then using Embiggen is strictly a +2/+2 for all minions. If you do small value minions (like Trump suggests) it could be scary.

If you embiggen twice you get that card from Bob’s Tavern that gives a minion +4/+4, but it costs 2 more...

I m so glad they show love for wild mode with those tech cards , tbh big boys (Ex Solem) play wild , and is harder than standard , bc a lot of cards are used and if you don t know or have experience .. go play standard, maybe wild isn t for you , platebreaker will se play more in wild than standard , and only in some meta situations , so pls don t judge or cry for this and put hate on some tech cards , if you are a true wild player then you can say smth , i hate seeing ppl who are only standard mode player , complain about this

Now that battlegrounds is out, a bunch of new players will be attracted to the game. This new expansion encourages them to spend money, and, because this expansion is so powerful, they can purchase only the newest packs and have a fighting chance against players who have been around for years.
You can really tell they’re encouraging this new audience because of all the crazy effects they added, like a 12 hand size.

Also i think with platebreaker i think blizzard is being too direct. Maybe giving this a little less stats and saying “deal x amount of damage to the enemy hero (deals quadruple damage to armor)” (i havent taught about balancing the card so i shall leave the damage as an x)

if anythnig they might need ot nerf its body, since 5/5 is a decent body for a 5 drop, this card should not be a auto include unless the meta is heavy on high armor decks.
In the Platebreaker graphics, the beast should have pieces of High Priest Thekal's armor dropping from his maw because he's totally just eaten the scrawny troll.

No, people will run platebreaker. Some people just hate armor decks. They'll throw it in even if they play against warrior 5% of the time, and they'll be happy. Back in TGT, I played Millhouse in decks so I could get a small edge against zoo. Hate cards will always see some play.

You invested like 14 mana into armoring up over the course of the last few turns? Well too bad.
This is weighted so hard towards some classes and is way more punishing than all the other disruption mechanics like weapon destruction, dirty rat and stuff like that.
at worse all they need to od is make it a bad 5 drop stat wise(5/5 is too good for a tech card where the power is all on the battlecry, making it a 4/4 or 3/3 would remvoe it from " auto include" unless the meta demands it), but the effect was long overdue ot curb the stupid high armor decks

The whole expansion seems like a huge troll from blizz to Trump. If he'd saw any of these cards in custom hs, he'd rate them 1 star for design and sometimes for balance too. "A Keleseth power level card! That would never be printed!", "Storm hammer for hunter?!", "This one even breaks the 10 card rule!", "Malygos? Too much going on! It's a common mistake for nubies to make this kind of cards..."

Embiggen is "Surrender to Madness". 1-2 star card.
Embiggen is way better than Surrender to Madness. It's cheaper for one so you aren't going turn 3 pass and never getting board back like you would with surrender.
Also, the downside is far less punishing. It only affects minions so your spells are still the same cost which can help somewhat keep up in tempo while you draw minions.
Another thing is the downside ONLY affects the deck so if we are playing a game where you topdeck embiggen and surrender to madness on turn 4 or something and play both, the druid can still play oasis surger on 5 if it was in his hand meanwhile the priest can't play pretty much anything for the next few turns and just dies.
Descent of Custom Hearthstone is truly the best name you can give to this expansion

OKAY so lets talk embiggen. Soooo thia card I definately see could go in quest druid. Simply because of the quest requirement to begin with!! 4 turns with unspent mana. This is a 0 cost card that buffs your late game! A 0 mana do something "later" and in general if you have choose both, +2/2 means WAAAY more than in other minions. Isnt there a minion that gains charge from this? This makes a leroy with taunt for what. 5 mana? 4 mana? I may be wrong but that sounds very... Interesting
