- With a small modification Honda cb350 hness just became supremely fun to ride. I’ll probably call it as a sprocket magic. I just changed rear sprocket from 35 teeth to 41 teeth and it did wonders. Do watch the video to get the full explanation 😊
Any improvement on low end torque and acceleration, and also from where did i get the rear sproket as well as additional chain links?
Low end torque has improved drastically. I actually bought from a company called Royal customs but I’m not sure if they’re still active. There are other companies also which provide sprockets. Chain links can be bought from any local workshop.
You can get a sprocket of any size at local machinery store who deals in chain sprockets used in mixer machines. Very easily available, at reasonable price. It's just that you have to get the holes done.

Is there improvement in frequent gear change issue?
And has excessive clutch use reduced?

Gear changes have reduced drastically because you can potter around in 4th at around 35km/hr and 50km/hr in 5th. Also the bike easily pulls away from the given speeds in the same gear without any hesitation.
Clutch use is minimal now .

is there engine knocking there between 10 to 20kmph in 2nd gear. Also is it easy to run over larger bumps with 2nd gear now ?
You can get off from stationary in second gear . Tractability has improved drastically and no knocking in second gear between 10 to 20kmph.

Great modification. In which location is the local workshop where you did the changes? Do you have any recommendation on any specific workshop in Ernakulam district, where these changes can be done? Also have you thought about the 41T sprocket from CB500X, before proceeding with Royal customs? I have been thinking about making these changes to my H'ness for a while, but do not know much local workshops within Kochi/Aluva who have expertise in this modification.
I did ask Bigwing about installing 41T from the 500x; but they were like “it’s not needed”, “we can’t do something like that”, “we’re not sure about the compatibility”,etc. So I didn’t push them more and instead checked out something else. Thing is that the length of the chain should be increased;so when ordering online do ask them to send some extra chain links(3). You can get chain lock from spare parts shop which is needed to fix the links to the current chain. I’m not based in ernakulam so I don’t know a good local workshop there. Always approach a good workshop for these kind of works:)

Does this affect the warranty? I'm looking to buy new CB350 , but i usually cruise only at max 60, which seems impossible in CB at max gear.
Also , one more question without this change how's the mileage if we use mostly 3rd and little 4th gear ?
I did this mod immediately after the 1st service and have consequently taken my bike to big wing for services and chain lubing. Thing is that they haven’t noticed the new sprocket yet. Also I installed this sprocket from a local work shop and I do have the stock sprocket with me. So if in case I want to claim warranty from big wing I’ll install the stock sprocket and attend them. It’s just a matter of an hour to change rear sprocket.
You can comfortably do 45 to 60 in fourth gear without and hiccups in stock form itself and doing so you’ll get an efficiency of 38+ effortlessly. If you’re doing the same in 3rd you can get around 32-34km/l.

I don't understand the language but I could figure out from the comments that you changed the rear sprocket for low end torque. You said you went seven teeth up the rear sprocket?
I read somewhere that going more than 2 teeth rear will drastically change the ride and it's most probably better to leave the front sprocket alone. Changing one sprocket more or less in the front would mean going up three teeth up in the rear. ( check gearing commander website for the maths). I ride the meteor 350 these days, but in the past I had changed the rear sprocket of Yamaha r15(v1) with that of the r15(v2), as it had two teeth bigger sprocket. The low end did increase but the speedo got inaccurate. However my point is that I would suggest you to check those teeth modifications and the maths. Drastic changes to the engine gearing could be an issue in future. I would also suggest you to do some dyno testing and have a look at those changes in the reading. I would have bought a honda if it could pull like the meteor from the very low end and also if it's ground clearance was like the meteor. Anyway nice bike. Please do leave your experience.

I changed the rear sprocket from 35 to 41 teeth and kept the front sprocket intact. Yes, I know one teeth upfront is equivalent to 3 but at the time of modification the people I approached told that rear sprocket was their in stock but front sprocket should be custom made; so I went for the bigger rear one.
The gearing became shorter and bike now feels was better at the lower end of the rev range and that too without crushing ability. If you’ve ridden the hness you would know that the 5th gear has no poke, but now fifth gear is usable and also engine is pretty calm at steady 100km/hr cruise.
Speedo error is something that I haven’t come across. To give a representation of gearing, in stock form bike would hit 110km/hr in 3rd gear but now it redlines at 95km/hr which is something similar to the meteor.

Total cost is approx 5k including labour for fitting

In stock I was able to do 135(in 4th gear - 5th gear aakiyal bike pinne speed koodilla)
But now 4th gear redlines at 120 and then in 5th the bike pulls up to 135
So top speed remains the same 😊
