  • Hey there everyone! Join me, as I repair this non-functioning Trainmaster in order to get it back on the rails again! This model was purchased a while back as a project.
This is intended to be a short series, in order to show you how to get your old PS2 locomotive running again.
Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and some snacks and sit back and join me for some bench-talk ramblings as we get this model fixed up! Thank you so much for your support!
    ❤️🚂😎 -Brian
    Covered in Part 1:
    locomotive disassembly
    smoke unit install
    PS3/2 Stacker install
    reassembly

You have the patience of a saint, the entire DDC is a mystery to me, repairing loco’s gives me heart burn, I’ve only destroyed 4 or 5 of them in the learning process.

Thank you kindly Rick! I’m an electrical engineer by day and model train engineer/mechanic by night..hah! I’ve played around with a few DCC trains mainly with my n-scale, but yep…this stuff can be tricky to work with! ❤️🚂😎

@@naxshack Yep, an electrical engineer, is an awesome career choice. Im a professional goof off and a 220v single phase kinda guy, but after destroying the first few locomotives I tried to fix, I’ve since revived a few of the old beater loco’s you see running around here.

It’s all good Rick! You have some really great looking trains! Especially love that General!

If I can spray some CTC, clean a commutator, solder a few wires and even pull a wheel to fix something, I'm good. But you're on a whole other ballfield! 💯

For sure John! The pre-command control stuff is definitely nice to work on! ❤️🚂😎

Great video, you have definitely made a difficult job look easy. After watching this video I could almost have enough confidence to switch out a PS2 board (please note, I said "almost" ha ha). Awesome work Brian you are a inspiration to me and I'm sure many others. Thanks for this great video I am very impressed with your skills.

Thanks Brian, I own the newest MTH Premier release of the SP FM Trainmaster (PS3) along with the Railking dummy unit. They really are beautiful and muscular looking locomtives. I love Trainmaster models.

Lol Eddie!!! 😂 Yeah, this stuff is a little crazy, I guess! 😅 I figured I had to fix this TM anyway, so might as well film and share it! 😂 I prob should start working on other people’s trains, as I keep looking for more projects to stockpile and work on in the future! 😅

Impressive work Brian, I have a two year degree in electronics but I'm an electrian and rarely go deep into the components. It's meticulous work and I have fat fingers😁

Awesome Joey!! I’m an electrical engineer. I’ve done a lot of circuit board design work over the years, but mainly work with industrial control systems these days. (However, I am a gearhead at heart!!) Growing up as a kid, I lived and breathed HO trains. Now in my fifties, I’m still playing with trains, but needed to move up to O many years ago, so I can see things better without my dang readers. 😉

Wow, another great how-to video. To me, everyone should have a Trainmaster, I have one, and a SP unit makes a good candidate. .

Thanks Kevin! For sure, the SP Black Widow paint on this really caught my eye! I’ve pieced together a nice matching consist for this one too! There’ll be the usual cruise around the layout vid after the series has finished.
