That joy in Rachel's eyes when she goes 'I've got walls!' is so sweet.
Feel bad for Phoebe she was really excited to be working with her best friend and really helped Monica a lot at the time she was struggling she deserved best. But can't really blame Monica either its her dream to be a head chef just things like this happen one of them has to get hurt.

Monica was not Phoebe's best friend. Phoebe deemed her as being high maintenance and always preferred the more mellow Rachel. So it's a good thing that Monica chooses the job at Alessandro's. Phoebe would have done the same.

They still end up being best friends so I agree with you, but their differences in personality and vibes also mean they're not the closest of ones.
Even tho their ability to pay their rent was sus, this show actually did show the progression of 20 somethings in the workplace in NY. Rachel stayed a waitress for many years before she got an entry level position at Bloomingdale's. It never showed her with an office until she worked her way further up the ladder. They don't make shows like this anymore.
It's how she got her job that is super unrealistic.

So how is that the girls getting new jobs? "The girls" in a Friends contest means all three.
The 3 girls did technically all get new jobs: Monica as the head chef, Rachel as the assistant buyer or whatev, and Phoebe got a "new job" for the catering business.
I mean if you want to nitpick, you wrote "contest" instead of "context" LOL.
Well, not all the girls got the job!
This was pretty selfish of Monica, I understand why Phoebe was bummed out. But on the whole Monica's the most generous and giving friend, i think maybe only Miss Chanandler Bong would be on par with how much he gave Joey over the years.
It wasn't. It was her dream job, the catering job was never meant to be something permanent for either of them, and their first try didn't even go thaaaaat well (in terms of relations with the client), it sucks for Phoebe since she doesn't have something ready on the side, but Monica also offers to give her back all of the money invested and to give her the van, so it's not like Phoebe would lose everything.
Imo Phoebe is more selfish here... It's not like she was doing her dream job or that she was passionate about it, she was just enjoying working with her friend, although there were also tense/stressful moments between the two. It's understandable she was disappointed but her friend got offered her dream job, she should be happy about it even if it was bitter happiness.
@@LibellulaireI don't recall how the episode played out tbh as I've not watched it in ages. But from this clip it seems Monica blindsided Phoebe anout not being able to cater if she got the job. If they were truly business partners then she should have mentioned it to Phoebe way ahead of time that she would pull out for Alesandro's instead of agreeing to another job and then pulling out. Like if that were me I'd have been honest about the fact I might not be able to commit to catering if I knew I had a potential job lined up. It just rubbed me the wrong way how she put the onus of cleaning that mess up on Phoebe when she was the one pulling out, even if she was giving back the money. It's not her wanting the dream job that was the issue it was her not being properly honest about her lack of commitment to catering with Phoebe. Glad it works out for them either way though I guess
Am i the only one who didn't like the catering business? Maybe i'm being too technical here, but I always thought it would be completely unfair to Monica, having to pay half her income to Phoebe, when all phoebe would be doing is going up to people and asking them for money..
I always assumed she would help out in the kitchen too
That business was set to fail. Monica would have to be in charge of the stocks, cooking, buying, preparing recipes, etc., while Phoebe would just be like... getting the money, cleaning with Monica, getting things out and in the van and stuff like that. Of course, those are necessary, but Monica would be doing two or three times Phoebe's job.
Also there's no way it would work with only two people in the long run. Maybe for very small events, sure, but Phoebe wanted to do a WEDDING ?!
That job was going to break that friendship for that reason

I'm pretty sure everybody deserves to celebrate their success. There's always someone in worse situation, that does not mean I have no right to be happy at the same time.
In this clip we LITERALLY see Monica cut Rachel and her big announcement to make it all about herself, and then, Rachel, instead of being mad about it or push her own big news is truly happy for her friend, even moved by the news, and celebrates with her. It's only once Phoebe arrives that Rachel mentions her new job.
In this clip, Phoebe and Monica are being self-centered while Rachel is all about congratulating her friend. She's even sensible enough to step on the side and give them some space when they need to talk.

I accept to everything you said, except that arrogant last line. Neither what I said is ridiculous, not what u explained justifies all red flags of Rachel’s behaviour n envious attitude /abusive impulses of hers when she sees others happy. I mean you can always say she even admits multiple times that others happiness stings her badly. Like that girl literally manipulates Bonny to get bald. The way she treats/abuses all of Rosses girlfriends. We can see how she subconsciously always ruins or throws shade at others who she’s insecure about. That’s a given.
