The irony is had Rhaenrya not messed around with Daemon, she could have married Ser Harwin. He's heir to the largest castle in Westeros. He would have been a worthy consort for the heir to the iron throne.

It's a disputed point, but the window where Aegon was, er, pleasuring himself is probably the same one where, many years later, Tommen Baratheon would step through to his death. Cue jokes about pride coming before a fall. It is the reason, however, that even in GOT times, people avoid the space below that window. Interesting fact: at this point, Aegon is played by Ty Tennant, son of the Tenth Doctor David Tennant. Imagine the conversation: "Dad, mum, I got the part in House of the Dragon!" "Well done, Ty, have a model sonic screwdriver!" "Thanks. I just got the script for my first big scene." "Some stirring speech? A fight against a rogue dragon?" "No, actually I'm %$£&*%$ out of a window." How did you feel about the new actors for Rhaenyra and Alicent? I have to admit I really liked the younger actors and it took me a while to make the adjustment, especially as Emma D'Arcy doesn't look like Millie Alcock. After a few episodes I'd adjusted. Like a supertanker it takes me ages to change course. I went to see Millie in 'The Crucible' in London last summer - she was excellent. And now she's going to be Supergirl!
Ohhh thats neat about David Tennant's son! I can definitely see it now (looking past the bright white/yellow hair haha) I thought the older Alicent was SPOT on! I actually thought it was the same actress for a bit there, they did that so well - she feels/looks the exact same, its amazing. The older Rhaenyra also took me some getting used to - I think it might be because their way of speaking is very different as well? But I like both actors, just much more of an adjustment than the Alicent actors! That is awesome that you get to some of the GoT/HotD actors on stage, I'm jealous!
Criston hates rhaenyra because she asked him to be her side peice after he broke his vows for her, he wanted her to take him seriously, it's actually more complicated than just because her refusing to escape with him, he feels ashamed for breaking his vows, king's gaurd take their vows so seriously and espicially criston who's a lowborn and all he has to his name is his white cloak.
Rhaenyra is so spoiled that she can't see how her indulgences endanger her family and the realm. Allicent was forced into alot of stuff. It is so easy to be team Green or at least team Allicent.
That's typical of Mertin's characters. They have their good points, but all tend to be flawed. He doesn't write "white hat" and "black hat" characters for the most part... they're all various shades of gray. And in most cases, those flaws and the bad decisions that follow from them tend to come back and bite the characters in some way. You reap what you sow.
Alicent jumped in with both feet and played her hand far more than what was required by mere duty. She constantly is saying that she did not ask for things but then does nothing to stop future occurrences. Alicent is in deep self denial.
I dont think you have to get used to the Targaryen incest thing. Shit, other noble families in show are grossed out about it. It's icky, nothing wrong with it feeling icky.
How did she kill her child? The baby would have died within her and might already have been dead; she could not deliver the child and the surgeon couldn't help her. Given that she was bleeding, I'd say the child was dead or dying inside her and cutting her open would not have saved him/her and Laena knew it.
@@kimcottingham8043 They didn't show any discussion between Laena and the surgeon. When Laena went out to Vhaegar, it was obvious that that the child was dead or dying inside and that she would not survive either. To expect that Laena submit herself to an agonizing death for a chance that her baby might live is unfair; that has to be her choice, and her decision should be respected. Don't forget, both Laena and Daemon had the memory of Aemma's death, and probably knew that Viserys had ordered Aemma's womb to be cut open to try to save their baby, and the baby died anyway, while Aemma suffered terribly before dying.
I think it is funny and a little weird that between GOT and this show, no one ever says how abhorrent it is to lie about a child's father, both to the man that believes it, like Robert, and to the child. Everyone treats it like it is ok to just cuck guys. LOL.
While the reason war of five kings began in GOT was exactly that.cerci's children were considered as bastards and king's brothers started a war to claim the throne.in the house of dragon the matter is ignored so easily.

It should be considered evil and abhorrent, but I never hear it spoken about as such. It's weird to me. Like that isn't an evil thing that evil people would do.
@@kennyhudson9201 If Rhaenyra were to admit that she committed adultery and allowed someone other than her husband to father her children, she could be executed, the children could possibly be executed as well or at least lose any hope of a decent future. Rhaenyra had good reasons for having Harwin father her children...
Best way to think about the incest, is that George R R Martin first wrote the Targaryens as reptile humanoid creatures. So in that way they would've probably been exclusively "keeping it in the family".
They keep it in the family because their connection to their dragons lies in their blood and they are afraid to lose that control over dragons if their blood becomes "thinner". The real world inspiation for the Targaryen incest is the Greek Ptolemaic dynasty that ruled old Egypt after Alexander the Great conquered it. Sibling marriage was common for them to keep to bloodline "pure". For example the most famous Ptolemaic ruler *Cleopetra* was married to her two brothers.
These are not technically dragons though the people do call them that. They are actually wyverns which have 4 limbs (2 legs + 2 wings). Dragons have 6 limbs (4 legs + 2 wings). Alicent's new underworld character, Larys, killed his father, the Hand of the King potentially to get Alicent's father, Otto, back as Hand again and his older brother to inherit Harrenhal for himself & to punish him for his affair w/ Rhaenyra, both for Alicent to prove his loyalty to her.
The nerve of Alicent to call for Rhaenyra’s child before she even delivered the placenta and not expect Rhaenyra to show up too. Like why the hell would I give you alone time with my child and I know we don’t like each other? She didn’t even name the baby yet wth

Kermit is just a green boy, and Oscar is greener still
Tbc Alicent has has 4 kids, the last born son hasn't been seen yet. But you can see Alicents symbol in the intro splits into 4 bloodlines.
Note that Rhaena said Daemon ignores her but we saw him interact with Baela. It probably isn't a coincidence that Baela is a dragon rider.
The youngest Targaryen son is Aemond. The Night’s Watch maester was Aemon. Different guy.
Yes, several generations apart.
Funnily enough, Rhaenys’s father was named “Aemon”. Names repeat in dynasties
Aemond is not the youngest Targaryren son. Alicent's youngest son is Daeron, who is fostered at Oldtown.
The daughter sees things, note she said he'll have to close an eye, to get a dragon.
Maestor Aemons Grandparents haven't been born yet.
